Is there any harm in resetting the network connections (the next step you suggested)? I just don't want to deal with anymore issues if this may cause some.

You lose your wifi passwords from all time. :-(

I can't believe you're defending Apple on this one. It's hard to take anything you say seriously when you take that position.

If this was the first time Apple had F'd up the BT stack I could see the fanboy defense. However, Apple has a long history of under-delivering on BT.

Remember they were the last smartphone vendor to offer A2DP stereo headset profile as just one example.

This is getting media coverage now due to the flood of people calling their car dealers, who of course can do nothing.

Its getting media? I haven't heard anything except "The world is ending, and your phone might bend" and "The sky is falling because Apple botched a software update" in the news lately.

Confirmed this with VW as well.

IPhone 5 on all ios8 betas worked fine. IPhone 5S on betas worked fine too. GM was also fine. Full release? Broken.

Same here

Add me to the list too, my Bluetooth calling refuses to work properly in my 2015 Hyundai Sonata. Music streams just fine, and my contact list uploads no problem. But when I try to place a call, it'll act like the call is going through and then just hang up. Yet, the call is still actually going through on my iPhone 6. I've tried unpairing it, resetting network settings, etc etc but nothing seems to help. It sucks...I hope some kind of fix for this is found soon.

This is what I'm experiencing exactly. The call is actually being transferred back from the car bluetooth back to the phone, it also locks up so you can't transfer it back to the car. Mine worked on 8.0.0 but quit as soon as I "upgraded" to 8.0.2. I went back to 8.0.0 and so far it seems ok. I won't know till I start using it again on Monday.

No problems before the upgrade, new car so it is definitely an iPhone problem.

Phone iPhone 6

Has anyone found a work-around that works on 8.0.2 and the bluetooth in a car? I have a 2011 Subaru Legacy that worked on 8.0 but is not working even after deleting all phones on my car bluetooth system, deleted the bluetooth profile on my iPhone 6 Plus, as well as resetting network settings. I then repaired but still not able to receive or send calls via the bluetooth car system. Thanks for any insight!

Update on my car (Ford Grand C-Max 2012, Ford Audio with Bluetooth). I applied that "fix" (Turn off Find My iPhone, turn on again, reboot) and I'm nearly there but I don't think theres much else I can do. Heres what I done.
1. Applied the fix (Below)
1a. Turn off Find My iPhone (Settings -> iCloud -> Find My iPhone (Enter password to turn off))
1b. Turn it back on.
1c. Reboot the phone. Doesn't need to be a hard reboot, but either is good.
2. (Optional, but may help it more) De-bond phone and car.
3. Connect phone and car.

Once I done that I was able to see my contacts, call lists, etc. I was able to start a call from the car, but it rang then cut out after 2/3 rings. If I started a call from the phone, the car wouldn't pick it up. I did find that I could have the car on Bluetooth audio and hear the phone call, but music would not stream.

Come on Apple. What have you done to break this standard...

So you are seeing some functionality? I'm not getting anything that appears to show the car bluetooth and my iPhone 6 Plus is interacting. I'm pretty annoyed myself.

I reverted to iOS 8.0 on my iPhone 6, and now can use hands free in my 2014 Toyota Prius Plugin. I was always able to pair the device, and use it to listen to music, but when it would dial a number, functionality ceased even though the iPhone showed the call was in progress. None of the other suggestions in this thread worked.

Some functionality but its useless because I can't hold a phonecall, which is the most important thing.

I own a 2013 Kia Rio and updated to 8.0.2 Friday. It broke the bluetooth with my car. I can try to voice dial and it comes through my speaker system, but as soon the other person answers, the sound cuts off. Still says connected to car, but no sound. Have to use speakerphone or phone speaker to talk.

Add Kia to the list. Thanks!

Does anyone have a work-around that is working? I'm on the verge of resetting and erasing my phone to see if it will work with my bluetooth system in my car. Thanks!

Try the advice in this thread again just to make sure:

Turn off BT on phone.
Delete all BT connections on phone and in car
Reset network settings on phone
Re-pair with our car

That seemed to help some folks. Didn't work for our iP5. Kind of worked for our iP6

At the end of the day, a BT fix from Apple is going to be required.

I'm at least encouraged that they've allowed bug reports to remain open on the dev forum.

Nothing is working on my car (BMW). I can't use the phone in my car because in IL you'll get a ticket if you are not hands free. My hands free was my car.

In a post above I reported that reverting to iOS 8 solved this issue. MacRumors has a story from a few days ago on its front page describing the procedure and download link for iOS 8. It was very easy to revert. I don't think 8.0.2 had much to offer that you would be losing.

Works fine in my 2014 VW GLI with Fender Audio. what model do you have?

2012 GTI. You have an RNS-315 or 510, or the RCD system? I've got an RNS-315 in mind.

The post above made it work for about 48 hours before it cut out again. Streaming music seems fine, but it decided "Call setup failed" on the car's end when placing a call, or midway through it.

It seems like the phone isn't passing the confirmation back to the car stereo that the call has been placed and made. The phone thinks it's still using BT audio just fine, but I've had no updates to the car, and like I said, it worked fine under all betas on my iPhone 5, the GM on my T-Mobile test-drive 5S and once I upgraded them all to the final version of 8.0.0, it broke.

FWIW....

I was using a 5S with my Infinity without any problems (using iOS 8.0). Upgraded to a 6+ and couldn't use the bluetooth to talk, and hear, during telephone calls. Everything else seemed to work.

After upgrading to 8.0.2, I deleted the bluetooth connection from my phone and the car and then re-paired them. I now have full functionality.

Hopefully 8.0.2 fixes this issue for some of you.

I read somewhere that this is an issue with people that have multiple devices with iCloud backups. It was mentioned to go into your account and remove any older devices that you no longer use. I had old iPhones and iPod touches, iPad etc that I no longer have. I deleted them from my account through the Find my iPhone app.

I don't have iCloud devices with backups. And I can't think of any correlation between bluetooth and iCloud. It's like saying having a cat for a pet makes your car more likely to get better gas mileage.

Lost Bluetooth functionality when updated to 8.02 in my Suburu Forrester. Was fine on 8.0. I tried deleting the profile and the car does not even recognize there is blue tooth when I try to pair it. Not good.

I am hesitating on resetting network settings as my Wifi is sluggish and I am afraid I could lose that too. Anyone lost Wifi after resetting network settings?
