I am hesitating on resetting network settings as my Wifi is sluggish and I am afraid I could lose that too. Anyone lost Wifi after resetting network settings?

No but u lose your stored favorites, so those people u go visit once every 5 years so u don't know their WEP key, gone.

Lost Bluetooth functionality when updated to 8.02 in my Suburu Forrester. Was fine on 8.0. I tried deleting the profile and the car does not even recognize there is blue tooth when I try to pair it. Not good.

If you reset your network settings, you will need to re establish your connection to your wifi network. Resetting the network settings, removes any wi Fi passwords you may have saved.

Try the advice in this thread again just to make sure:

Turn off BT on phone.
Delete all BT connections on phone and in car
Reset network settings on phone
Re-pair with our car

That seemed to help some folks. Didn't work for our iP5. Kind of worked for our iP6

At the end of the day, a BT fix from Apple is going to be required.

I'm at least encouraged that they've allowed bug reports to remain open on the dev forum.

Unfortunately, this did not help with my bluetooth connection with my car (Subaru Legacy 2011) after I followed the above. I'm hoping that there is an iOS fix for this in the next release. Thanks!

Usually doesn't especially since the people manning the chats are just customer service reps who don't have any actual technical training (sorry to burst their bubble but Apple's "Genius 101 University" 2 week class isn't technical training.

But hey, hopefully the bug reports actually get looked at. Surely Tim Cook must want to be able to use his phone in the car.

You have no idea what you are talking about. There is no Genius 101 University, there is 5-6 weeks of training to build and verify your skills. Is everyone technically inclined? No. But I know quite a few people in Apple support that are very good at technical troubleshooting. For you to talk down like that just proves what kind of person you are. Hint: not a good one.

I happen to be one of the people that unfortunately have to provide support to you, and people like you. It's awful when I have to deal with people like you. I try my hardest to resolve your issues, and sometimes, it's out of my control. Yet I still have to pretend that I'm so thrilled to be helping you. Well I'm not. You are the worst.

I've never walked out of a store and said "gosh that guy is smart" ... Apple trains to do scripted troubleshooting, nothing more.

You can defend your job all you want, but the "Genius Bar" is no different than a troubleshooting tree to keep grandmas feeling like they're taken care of.

Very well said!

Tell you what, how about I go and sample 5 geniuses from 5 random stores regarding this issue... here's what they'll do:

- "restore your phone"
- "reset your network settings"
- replace handset
- blame your car
- blame you
- tell you to restore again
- tell you to try re-pairing
- tell you to restore yet again

Hmm, come to think of it, funny how the advice they give is the ineffective advice given on this thread by those claiming to be "technicians" (retail employees). You can't get mad at me when you're a retail employee and I point that out. Apple teaches employees how to troubleshoot. Call it a technician, but it's a customer service rep.

I finally got this thing to work! I have an iPhone 6+ and a 2014 Hyundai Sonata Limited. I tried most of what everyone was recommending and nothing seemed to work, even including resetting All Settings.

What worked for me is this:
I have 4 iPhones (6+, 5S, 5, and 5C) and they WERE sharing one Apple ID. The 6+ and 5S were on iOS 8.02 and iOS 8.0 respectively. The 5 and 5C are still on iOS 7. I had to create a new Apple ID for my son's 5S and set his phone up as a Family Share on my Apple ID, since my Apple ID is the "Organizer". Then I had to ensure that the Share My Location settings were correctly setup, which means that the proper device was selected in the "From" box.
Here is how you do that:
Select Settings.
Select Privacy.
Select Location Services.
Select Share My Location.
Select From.
Then make sure that you select the current iPhone that you are using. (In my case it was my iPhone 6+)
Select Back.
Now in the "From" box it should show "This Device". (I did this on both the 5S and 6+.)

What was originally happening when my son's 5S was on my Apple ID, both his 5S and my 6+ were showing on the "From" selection page on both iPhones, and that was causing problems, apparently.

I also have "Handoff" turned off as well, since I don't have any Macs or iPads to use for Handoff.
Here is how you find that setting:
Select Settings.
Select General.
Select Handoff & Suggested Apps.
Turn off or on Handoff. (Mine is off.)

After all of that was done, I deleted my Sonata from my iPhone Bluetooth Settings and deleted the pairing in my Sonata. I restarted the iPhone 6+, paired it again with my Sonata, made a few test calls, restarted the iPhone, and made another test call. It finally works!!

I really can't explain why this worked for me, but I believe there are software glitches with the new iOS 8 Location Sharing and Handoff features, especially when the devices share the same Apple ID.

UPDATE: I have tested this for a few days now and have restarted the iPhone several times and it is still working!!

Sounds like you're just a bitter Apple employee (or contractor) who feels the need to belittle customers for no reason. To say your comments are jaded is putting it lightly. And then you come at me saying I'm being rude? You're the one violating your NDA by identifying yourself as an Apple Chat Support Agent on a public forum, and on top of that disparaging Apple's customer base while presenting yourself as an employee.

Classy!

You know what's in the NDA now? I'm not even employed with them anymore. The simple fact is that you ARE a jerk. And I dread having to deal with entitled ones like you. I guess you could say that I'm bitter having to deal with people who take out frustrations on people that have nothing to do with their issues. Who think they deserve free things. Who act like it's the end of the world when their products don't work exactly right. Why don't you grow up and treat people with some respect? I wouldn't have said any of this if you hadn't decided to disparage people who try to help you.

It's not like Apple's policies aren't leaked online time and time again ...

http://www.technobuffalo.com/2011/1...hes-employees-from-talking-about-the-company/

I really think you should read Apple's policies about posting in forums like this. They clearly state that you shouldn't represent yourself as an Apple employee and say the things you say.

Just some advice. Never know who might be reading.

I edited my original post to reflect my current employment status, is that good for you?

I AM POSTING FOR MYSELF, AND ONLY MYSELF, AND NOT AS AN APPLE EMPLOYEE OR CONTRACTOR.

So Mr. Know-it-all, are you ready to discuss how you are a jerk after all?

Huh? Clearly you didn't read your policy. I'm done with you.

Back on topic please thread, LOL

My policy? I'M NOT EMPLOYED BY APPLE. So it's not really my policy. The original topic is that something isn't working correctly, and you're being a spoiled baby about it.

In about 20 of your previous posts, you identify yourself as an Apple employee, so which is it? Sounds like you may be bitter because you are jealous of Apple employees and are just a contractor. Either way, sorry I offended you by saying apple "support" retail and chat employees don't really provide much in the way of technical support. I stand by that sentiment, but understand you take it personally, and apologize you feel insulted.

Now can we please get this thread on topic on how none of our bluetooth works in the car, the one place bluetooth should work?

Oh, they're only suggesting you try those things because they don't know what they are doing. Because they're so stupid, they don't know about terminal access in iOS right? You realize those Geniuses don't write the code that has the issues, and they can't change issues with the software. So being a jerk to them doesn't help resolve your issue. Yet you want to highlight how inept they are because they are following the only troubleshooting that can be done with iOS devices. They're so stupid, right?

Well hey, thanks for the backhanded apology. Read my last post though. It's not that I disagree that the issue is frustrating, it is. I wouldn't be happy either. But my entire point is that all too frequently people take out those larger issues out on people that have no control over it.

Why are you so angry? I didn't call you an idiot. I didn't call you a horrible person. I didn't call you stupid. Yet you continue to call me names and insult me. I've added you to my block list.

Does anyone have a work-around that is working? I'm on the verge of resetting and erasing my phone to see if it will work with my bluetooth system in my car. Thanks!

V

This has fixed it for a lot of people.

Go to settings \ general \ reset and select 'reset all settings'.

The above will mean you have to set some things back up on your phone such as wallpapers, sounds etc. but you will not lose any data. Take a backup before if you are concerned. Please note, this is a reset all. Reset network doesn't do it.

Re-pair with your car and there is a good chance it will be working for you now.

This thread needs a big cleanup. Unbelievable how grown people keep taking shots at one another like a couple of middle graders.

For people who actually HAVE the issue, it's incredibly annoying coming to a thread on MR where people are supposed to be civil and find bickering instead of potential solutions that are overshadowed by your lack of respect.

Has anyone been able to consistently get their iPhone 6/iPhone 6 Plus on 8.0.2 to connect to their car system? Thanks!

2012 MERCEDES 500 CSL...
I finally got it all working..I deleted my old iPhone 5s and repaired with 8.02 its all working fine ...

Has anyone been able to consistently get their iPhone 6/iPhone 6 Plus on 8.0.2 to connect to their car system? Thanks!

V

I have on my Plus.

I deleted my previous phones stored entry in my 2009 Mazda 6 and then reset all settings (general > reset > reset all settings) and then repaired the phone.

I'm able to get Bluetooth but if I make a call from the phone (without voice failing through the bt setup) I have to manually select the bt connection in the audio settings during the call.

It worked for me.

So before I had iOS 7.1.2... when I paired it with my car, it seamlessly placed and received calls via my car's audio system (Hyundai). When I upgraded my iPhone 5S to iOS 8, that stopped, so I just figured it was because I had to re-pair it with the car.

Then I got my 6+ and it's the same way. Now when I am connected via bluetooth, I place a call, and it says it's going over bluetooth, but it doesn't interrupt my car's music, and the audio doesn't play over the speakers. The only way I can talk to the person is if I press the Audio button on the phone and select speakerphone or iPhone as if it wasn't connected to the car.

This seems like a huge step backward in technology, and I'm not happy. Anyone else experiencing this? Is there any work around? I really can't deal with going back 5 years in time.

Thanks!

EDIT: Based on comments in this thread, 8.0 and 8.0.2 broke bluetooth connectivity for almost all users. The following car brand owners have reported the issue...

- Hyundai
- Chevrolet
- Aston Martin
- BMW
- Mercedes
- Lexus
- Toyota
- Acura
- Infinity
- Ford
- Mazda
- Mitsubishi
