I saw that some other VW folks have had an issue and I wanted to share.

I had a problem connecting my iPhone 6 to my 2013 VW GLI. I tried several times to connect and then decided to try deleting the profiles in the radio and resetting my phone via Settings>General>Reset. But even after that, it still would not connect properly.

Ultimately, I decided I wanted to start completely over and connected my iPhone to iTunes and first reinstalled iOS 8.0 from apple servers and then restored my profile. And now it works fine. I wonder if it was a problem with the initial iOS 8 that came preinstalled on the handset.

Hope this helps.

Add Nissan

Please add Nissan to the list. Worked fine with 8, but now that I went to 8.0.2 on my iPhone 6, Siri will interrupt and work over the car speakers and microphone but phone calls will not. This is in my 2013 Nissan Altima.

I have the same problems with my 2010 Ford Galaxy with NX Navigation and iPhone 6 ( 8.0 and 8.0.2). iPhone 5 and 4s with 8.0.2 are working as expected.

YESSSS. It's so annoying. 2013 Ford Fusion here. I just assumed it was an issue with Ford. Apparently not.

I can stream music fine over bluetooth, but every time I get a call it disconnects after a second or two of being able to talk.

I never tested my iphone 5 with ios8 before getting rid of it for a 6, but my 6 will pair but then disconnect from the radio when a call comes in and the phone still says it is connected.

I have a 2010 Dodge Challenger with the RBZ head unit 7 speaker system and Uconnect system

Have been able to get a 4S to pair with MyFord Touch and display Contacts, but will not place calls or read text messages. Same symptoms as OP's post.

Add Honda

Very glad to see this make the main page of MR. I am having issues too. Audio in my Honda Civic works fine but it will not make calls via Bluetooth. The phone tries to send the call to the car but it gets returned back to the phone after a few seconds.

To try and help with another issue, I reset network settings right around the time 8.0.2 came out and I have yet to figure out if it was the network settings reset or the 8.0.2 update that broke things but I tend to think it was the update. I even took the car to the Honda dealership today but all they do is blame Apple. Both the lead tech and the service woman are Android owners so they seemed happy to put the blame on Apple (though they are probably correct). They have not had anyone else call or ask yet about this.

My only option left is to try Reset All Settings but I hate to resort to this and I hope 8.1 with a fix will be out soon.

By the way, I am using an iPhone 6 (4.7).

Software QA

To thread starter and Apple [B said:
EDIT: Based on comments in this thread, 8.0 and 8.0.2 broke bluetooth connectivity for almost all users. The following car brand owners have reported the issue...

- Hyundai
- Chevrolet
- Aston Martin
- BMW
- Mercedes
- Lexus
- Toyota
- Acura
- Infinity
- Ford
- Mazda
- Mitsubishi [/B]

Having been in the software business managing projects for a major federal contractor for 15 years on large software systems, it seems clear that Apple has a major problem with their software Quality Assurance process.
From this particular IOS 8 Bluetooth and other 8.0 issues requiring the embarrassment of pulling a release, as well as others on their several hardware programs, a tendency to use their hardware customers as QA providers, identifying system problems for them after release rather than exhaustive (as well as expensive and time consuming) in house testing is obvious and reprehensible.
This is not good for sales, corporate image or stock value.
Is this an accelerating trend in Cook's administration?
Only time will tell.
Apple may have to choose between "cool" and solid, dependable, innovative products.
Personally, after 29 years of use of dozens of Apple products starting with the Little Mac, I have learned to wait a while and watch the forums and Wall Street Journal before purchasing new Apple products.
Apple will fix IOS 8 for us eventually, but it doesn't have to be this way given thorough QA testing in house.

2014 Prius

Work 5S and Personal 6. 5S worked just fine before ios8. Brand new 6 didnt work right out of the box. Now both are at 8.0.1, still no bluetooth with my 2014 Prius and BluAnt bluetooth headset. Really annoyed @ Apple right now.

I've actually been posting on a different thread in the iPhone forum... I have a Hyundai Sonata Hybrid and have been having issues with 8.0.2.

I have a friend who has the exact same car. I asked if he was having the same issues. Said his was all good.

We just went to my car and tested my phone. No go still. Then we deleted my phone and tried his. WORKED! We have the exact same phone (6) and are both running 8.0.2.

Not sure what is up. Called AppleCare and they said to do a full restore on my phone and see if that helps.

Bluetooth on GMC

Yes I've been on the beta of iOS 8 and it's worked pretty good then I upgraded to the 8.0.2 and it connected once then has yet to work at all. I have a GMC Acadia.

2013 Acura TL; iPhone 5

FWIW - I've not had any issues pairing or using my phone in my automobile. I've used the phone and streamed audio from several apps.

I did get into a quagmire where I'd downloaded 8.0.1 to my phone but was not able to complete the update since the verification failed once the update was taken down. I needed to reset my phone and re-pair after that incident since my phone wasn't recognized after the restore. After re-pairing everything has worked ok.

I've also been able to pair with a BT speaker (Turtle) okay.

VW Golf 7 with Navigationssystem «Discover Media»

After more than 40 min drive the phone did not connect. I switched then bluetooth on and off several times on both radio and iPhone 5 and after many attempts it finally connected.

Has anyone found a work-around that works on 8.0.2 and the bluetooth in a car? I have a 2011 Subaru Legacy that worked on 8.0 but is not working even after deleting all phones on my car bluetooth system, deleted the bluetooth profile on my iPhone 6 Plus, as well as resetting network settings. I then repaired but still not able to receive or send calls via the bluetooth car system. Thanks for any insight!

I got the 6 on launch day, had the same issues, and was lucky if the 6 connected 10% of the time, whereas my 4 had zero issues connecting.

On my 2012 Subaru WRX, I had to delete the phones from the steering wheel, and then pair the 6. Now everything works just fine.

Same issues here... Acura TL

Same issues here. As mentionned earlier in this thread, the issues seem to be related to continuity and the way devices are authorized for bluetooth connections. If you are one of the "unlucky" users that have multiple devices running ios8 and they are all logged in the same icloud account, chances are your handsfree bluetooth connections have issues.

As of ios8, all devices logged into the same icloud account get automatically paired for blueetooth communications. The only way to remove a device from the list is to actually sign-out that device from icloud.

it looks like for some reason linked to continuity, the ios device gets mixed up with regards to which device to use for phonecall output. That is why in most cases the pairing process works, any other function like streaming or Siri works but phonecalls do not.

This continuity thing should probably be called discontinuity instead :)

Mark me down for having iPhone 6 Bluetooth problems on both a 2014 Chevy Impala, and a 2014 Kia Rondo.

I can play media over both cars (Podcasts, Music, Youtube), but when a call comes in, the ringtone plays over the speakers, but the dash doesn't even recognize the call.

Problem is here in Alberta, we have a distracted driving law, and even holding a cell phone to talk into is considered distracted driving. Would be hard to prove to a cop that my iPhone 6 is having Bluetooth difficulties.

Even if you could prove it, I don't think that'd be a defense. It's like having an open container in the car. Even if you prove you weren't drinking it, the law says no open container in the car.

Here in CA we have the hands-free law as well, and yeah, I'm seriously annoyed not being able to make calls in the car. It's like going 10 years back in time. I can't believe Apple screwed this one up.

Happy to report that updating iOS fixed my issues with the Model S though a few users at TMC are still having problems.

Doesn't connect to Bluetooth when making a call

My issue is slightly different, every time I make a call when connected to my Mitsubishi the connection keeps reverting back to the phone and even if I use settings to tap back tO the car's BT The phone keeps dropping the connection. Once the call is active I can select the car's BT and it works. Makes driving difficult

I have a 2012 VW Passat and had no problem whatsoever connecting my iPhone 6 via bluetooth. Keep in mind that you have to rename your new phone before syncing it. For instance, my iPhone 5s was "G-Dave's iPhone". The iPhone 6 must be renamed, hence my iPhone 6 is now "G-Dave's iPhone 6". :apple:

Add Audi and Seat to the list. Not that it makes much difference though as we know it is an iOS 8 issue.

I'd sooner replace my phone, because ANY other bluetooth device on the planet works. Clearly the issue is not the car's audio system. LOL

Completely untrue of course. Automakers implement bluetooth all sorts of ways themselves and lots of rings don't work with various cars.. But Apple can do a better job. I'm having this problem in my BMW.

That is what I did when I paired my iPhone 6 to my BMW. I gave my phone a unique name and also deleted the pairing for my old phone. I only use it for voice calls so I am not concerned about the other possible functions

I have experienced similar issues with my Withings Smart Baby Monitor since the upgrade. It ran perfectly prior to the iOS 8 upgrade, and now constantly drops out unless we move over to wi-fi, which isn't always possible.
