Didn't have any issue accessing 3rd party keyboards on the lock screen on 8.0, 8.0.1 or 8.0.2. Have a 4S.
Maybe it's related to having 'show message preview' in the notifications settings turned on?

Anyone know what happened to the my script keyboard? I can't find it on the app store and it looked really cool (it showed you to hand write letter s and words)

It seems indeed they removed their app from the App Store (probably temporary). I can't find anything on their news, blog or twitter/facebook pages on this matter.

The PathInput iPad app is now also updated to iOS8 keyboard. See also TS for link.

Another swype keyboard is coming soon it's called 'AI.Type' and it's already available at Google Play for a while so it seems.

Anyone else have problems with the custom keyboard loading? Sometimes when I open iMessage I get swype, other times I get what looks like the old IOS 7 keyboard.
Apple also has the logic such that if the custom keyboard is taking too long to load, it will not wait and will just switch back to the default Apple keyboard.

This could have to do with the order of your keyboards. So first set you 3rd party keyboard and then the Apple keyboard. Some websites suggest to remove the Apple keyboard but i wouldn't recommend that.

In iOS8.1 developer release (Beta) they did resolve another bug with 3rd party keyboards: (source) some keyboard related issues should be resolved.
Fixed in iOS 8.1 Beta
Network access gets disabled after adding a new keyboard from the same bundle.
Custom Keyboards may go blank after app switching.
Known Issue
3rd party keyboards may not appear in Safari, Maps or 3rd party apps on the Simulator.

Workaround: Keyboards should be testable in Calendar, Spotlight, Contacts, and Photos.

Anyone notice that not all apps work with custom keyboards? I have a viatalk app for my phone service and the keyboard just shows up blank

I believe this has to do with apps not being up to date (yet) to be used with 3rd party keyboards in iOS8. I think a lot of apps should update their apps which should resolve this matter.

See also a response on Twitter from a user to the 3rd party keyboard Path Input in this regard.

I also noticed this post from Swype on their forum in which they say
Why can’t I see the text I am entering in some applications?

In some applications text fields are not correctly responding to the height of the keyboard (like the App Store review text field, arg!). This is an iOS 8 platform constraint and we are working with Apple to get it resolved.

I just added another three keyboards in the TS (iKeywi, ScribbleBoard, SnipsKey, Translator, KeySonic). I also added a link to an article in regards to the full access.

Anyone using the TextExpander keyboard and have an honest opinion of it? Seems it's a mixed bag on the reviews and I really like the whole TextExpander thing.

I'm sticking with the stock keyboard for now. Third party keyboards are too glitchy for me at the moment.

I wish they would include voice dictation and Apple's autocorrect. I got so used to typing about 85%-90% accurate and having autocorrect complete it for me. I can type fast that way. I know most people hate Apple's autocorrect, but the 3rd party one's aren't really my taste. The voice dictation can be very useful, but the 3rd party keyboards I've been using don't include it.

I downloaded iKeywi but its super buggy and slow so had to remove. I just want the stock keyboard with number row on the top; Is that too much to ask?!!

From what I read it looks like Apple doesn't allow access to the dictation
Yes, Apple did not open the API for keyboard developers to use the Siri feature. If keyboard developers want dictation, they would have to implement their own Siri. I do hope Apple opens up that API though.

Agreed, I bought it today after I got excited seeing it in the appstore, however as you have said, it's super buggy, crashed my iphone few times, doesn't work in all the apps very well, doesn't always show up when using spotlight, I hate that there is no option to turn off the clicking keyboard noise, it wants to send all my typing etc to dev (why would I want to share what I type to the dev, even as a way to improve things, this is a privacy breach if you ask me).

Lots of bugs needs fixing, I stopped using it for now, I just want it to to work like it does when jailbroken.
