If I let the battery die completely, then plug it in to recharge it, it takes two or more hours before it will reboot and work again. In the meantime, all I get is the empty battery symbol with a little bit of red at the bottom and the charge bolt.

Prior to iOS 5, it would reboot and function 2-5 minutes after plugging in, every time. Guess I'll have to stop my practice of letting it drain completely. :(

as someone mentioned, i click on a link in safari and it opens a new tab. the new tab doesn't load, just a blank white page with the webpage address up top. i have to click the reload icon for it to load. If i go back, the previous page will load only half of the page.

Do you have open tabs in background selected in the options for safari.

When I try to sync photos from an external drive to the iPad, it freezes at the last step and gets stuck when it says 'Waiting for changes to be applied'. iTunes is frozen and has to be restarted. This doesn't happen on the iPhone and it doesn't happen when I sync photos directly from the computer.

I've restored the iPad and reinstalled iTunes, but it still does it.

Also, on the iPhone, when you sync photos you get a duplicate folder. You see 'Photo Library' and also the same folder with whatever name you gave it on your computer. This may well not be a bug, but just howiOS5 organises photos, but I don't like it!

POP Server

I update my iphone 4 to ios5 and in my mailboxes there is not a mailbox link for "POP.secureserver.net" (this didnt appear before the update). When I open my mail I get a message "cannot get mail, the user name or password for POP.secureserver.net is incorrect. Any ideas on what this is and how to fix it?

ipad safari, clicking links opens the new tab, and nothing happens, unless you switch ot another tab, then go back. soo frustrating

I'm experiencing something similar to this as well. Using my iPhone 4 I was updating a thread of mine on another forum which contains various links to images. Prior to updating my iPhone 4 to iOS 5 clicking on one of my image links would result in the given image being displayed in a new page without issue. Now that I'm on iOS 5 the new page remains blank. If I press and hold the link however, then choosing either "Open in New Page" or "Open in Background" based on my "Open Links" setting the new page will then display the image without issue. It does not remain blank. I should note that when creating posts on this other forum HTML code has to be used. To have an image link display the given image in a new page I'm using target="_blank". That being said, I'm also using target="_blank" for links that are simply opening a different web page. No issues there. Only seeing this issue with links that display an image in a new page.

Since upgrading my iPhone 4 and my iPad I have noticed on several occasions for both that when turning devices ON using the Power button, the device will flicker ON and immediately turn OFF. It's not a case of not pushing the button firmly enough. I've always used the Power button vs the Home button to turn ON unless the Home button was necessary for wanted function (i.e. holding Home button to engage Voice Control to dial) knowing that some have reported broken Home buttons eventually.

I'm not sure that this is an indication of anything more than a glitch resulting from the upgrade but wanted to get it on the record. It is only mildly annoying at this point. Is anyone else noticing any funny business regarding the Power button?

+1 here as well. Anybody else?

Someone at the Apple Store helped me figure this out today. Just delete the picture that you have attached to the contact and then just reassign it to the contact. It fixes the issue just fine. Somehow trying to convert the info from the previous OS to this OS causes the pictures to stretch.

I'm also having the same issue. Another problem I'm having is with the iPod touch 4g. Some things run really smooth like opening apps, but some are really laggy like closing apps, or typing. Also, the screen, sometimes, does not respond.

I did a little iMessage experiment with two iOS5 iPhones today.

On one phone I turned off all data (Wifi & cellular) and left the celluar phone-network on. I sent an iMessage to this phone via the mobile number with a normally setup iPhone. The message was sent via iMessage, the message just hung and DID NOT revert to SMS.

I thought iMessage was supposed to revert to SMS when it realizes that the recipient has no data coverage?

I noticed that my iPhone 4 sometimes does not connect to certain wifi networks. I have no problem with my router at home, but noticed at a few restaurants it would not connect while other phones at my table would. Tonight I was at Old Chicago with friends and even though I had full bars on wifi, when I would try to connect, it would say unable to connect to network. However a friend of mine with an iPhone 4 on the old OS was able to connect as was another with an android phone. This also happened a few days ago at Buffalo Wild Wings. This does not occur with every network, so my phone is fine. Even after resetting network setting I could not connect. Apparently iOS5 is not playing well with certain wifi routers.

I don't know but the seek bar seems to act funny after switching to the Music app (via the app switcher thing) from a different app.

I set up iOS 5 successfully, everything is working fine, however I noticed that all my music was gone from my iPhone. When I plugged it back into the computer to update, it shows up briefly in iTunes but before it even gets into the phone options or starts to back up, iTunes freezes and I get a nonstop beach ball.

I've tried restarting iTunes and the computer, done a hard reset on the phone...all with no success. I can't backup the phone at this point because iTunes keeps crashing. Anyone have a similar problem, or thoughts on a fix?

Misc bugs so far, small but annoying

- The Notification center is ignoring the 'show preview' option for Mail
- Volume is inconsistent for alerts and custom Vibration does not always work
- In the 'Music' App, sorting by album results in some duplicate album names
- In the 'Music' App, sorting by album results in albums listed under the wrong letter, and getting progressively worse. For example, Inception is listed under 'L'l for me.
- The Calendar Notifications are showing birthdays from the Birthday calendar despite the Birthday calendar being turned off the Calendar app. (It would be nice if we could select which calendars we wanted notifications for and what type individually).

Some of these things aren't obvious, but some of them make me wonder how they were missed.

I'd love to see some options and changes to the notification, settings multitasking area, but this isn't the thread for it. Can anyone point me in the right direction for it? Yes, my user is new, but I've been a long time lurker.

I have a number of custom ringtones made from various sources- some made with GarageBand, some purchased.
In IOS 5, there is an option to use custom SMS tones for individuals in your Contacts, but only some of my tones are showing. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to which tones show and which ones don't. It's not based on size of the file, the length of the tone, the name or source.
I've tried to figure this out with no success, so I'm guessing it's a bug.

  • When a text message fails to send, so the usual "!" appeared beside the text message. However, if I went back to the home screen, there would be no "!" on the messages app icon to indicate a text message failed.
    .
  • iMessages waits far too long to decide to send the iMessage as a text message because there's no 3G reception.
    .

If you enlarge (double tap) a video that has soft subtitles in it, it won't display the second line.
