I was trying to find the article but you summed it out nicely. I remember this as well.
I'd be fine if the whole display is slightly yellowish, at least it's uniform. I'll only be annoyed if it's at certain parts of the display.
I don't think it has a yellow tint. For some reason, True Tone appears to make the screen have a yellowish tint, but you can turn it off, and it goes back to looking like an iPad Air screen. Huge noticeable difference after you turn it off. Here we go again...but yah that sucks if they have display issues
[doublepost=1497480952][/doublepost]Yellow-gate indeed. My 10.5 ipp is the poster child. Perfect 9.7ipp right, 10.5 ipp left. Both full brightness and TrueTone on.Is this an actual issue, and how widespread is this? My delivery is scheduled for today. Should I refuse?

Left one is more accurate - at least according to my calibrated iMac I'm seeing it on. Obviously, the photo probably isn't "accurate" etc. More neutral. Some people don't like that warmer look, though.
Might be my eyes these days. I like a lot of contrast. Color in photos look great on the 10.5, but text is generally washed out.
Out of 1,000 iPads 1 is tested you just a poorly calibrated one. Return it.apart from the new iPad being amazing and the new 120hz is insane my iPad 10.5 has yellow tint problem and warmer even with true tone off like every apple product I have and it’s brighter on left side compared to right I’m so sick of every amazing apple device having these issues I’ll try upload pics to show you, lcd is such bad news for screens
As has been said several times in this thread, if you don't like the yellow tint of the new 10.5 iPad Pro, turn off True Tone in the display settings, which has the effect of constantly adjusting the white point of the display, it has nothing to do with contrast and text.
My other monitors are color-calibrated and the iPad Pro comes pretty close to a neutral white point with True Tone disabled.
I noticed a very slight yellow strip down the bottom of my 256gb rose gold wifi + cellular. Once you notice it you can't ignore it so I went and picked up another from the apple store this morning. Currently setting it up but it does look much better, maybe a slight bit of yellow in bottom left corner. Once setup i will compare and take back the worst one.
I dread buying anything from apple as you just don't know what screen you are going to get![]()
My 9.7 ipp has truetone enabled, and it is not yellow at all. Why the difference?
Keep us posted !
I thought my second was ok but after a day I couldn't not see it
How many tries do you give a product?
You people forgetting to shut off true tone? If you want a whiter, bluer screen shut it off. If you want a more yellow, calibrated screen, turn it on. Not that difficult.
What does it look like when you turn True Tone off? The color temperature should look more neutral white that way.
But after a while, the quality of manufacturing improves. By waiting a bit, it is possible to get a "perfect" screen.
I have thought about this too. Is there any validity to the notion that the quality of manufacturing improves in the months after release and those devices will have fewer issues (e.g. yellow tint of display, uneven brightness, etc.)?
There's always speculation about this. I tend to never make purchases immediately when a new product releases. I like to usually wait a few months until manufacturing can slowdown and a product isn't necessarily being accelerated to meet the current demand.
Yeah but turn off True Tone, and they look just the same.[doublepost=1497480952][/doublepost]Yellow-gate indeed. My 10.5 ipp is the poster child. Perfect 9.7ipp right, 10.5 ipp left. Both full brightness and TrueTone on.
