Just been playing with mine and the screen is uniform (my 9.7 ipp wasn't). It's quite bluish with true tone off, but lovely with it on. Not too yellow for my liking and much better then my 9.7.

Can you guys the people who have a perfect display mention the starting letters of your serial number. should be DMP or DMT something like that.

Mine gets even MORE yellow when I turn TrueTone off. Text starts to become smeared into the background color. I have had every iPad since the first, and this is the worst screen I have ever received. This one is going back. A complete embarrassment.

Interesting, I have never seen an iPad with 'smeared text' with True Tone off. Could you post comparison pictures before you ship it back? In any case, I hope the replacement will work better.

In bright daylight and/or outside, I hardly see a difference between True Tone on or off. At night, True Tone makes the display look quite yellow on my new 10.5 iPad Pro. Color accuracy is important to me, which is why I don't use True Tone at all.

Keep us posted !

I thought my second was ok but after a day I couldn't not see it

How many tries do you give a product?

Well I discovered a dead pixel so I took it back to the store tonight. Opened a replacement in store, another dead pixel. Tried 4 iPads in total and they all had dead pixels!!! Argh!!! Ended up getting a refund, even the staff member was horrified. At least the one with the uneven screen doesn't have dead pixels. Now I don't know what I am going to do :(

This is one of the problems. Before when I've had such bad luck, I kinda wanted to go back to one i'd returned as "the best of a bad batch" ... but unfortunately it's been returned as faulty and you can't :(

That's why if you fear it may get worse buy a second compare side by side and return the one you can't stomach

I would echo some of the comments about giving it some time. I had a (albeit small) yellow area on the top left of my screen but after 4 hours of use it has disappeared. If I had the yellow tint I'm seeing on some of these pictures I would possibly give it a few days then look at returning if it was no better.

Edited to add: My serial number also begins with DMPT

What’s your screen like. I woulda say mine is 98% perfect. I can usually pick out imperfections pretty easy.
Mine seems perfect but I've never noticed a problem with any of my many apple devices. Either I've gotten lucky or I'm not very sensitive to issues (or the problems are overblown)

I got used to my 9.7 screen which wasn’t uniform at all. I wished I didn’t things as much as I do. Although I am getting better with age.

This was my first 10.5" that had it worse than second, but both went back.

The photo also doesn't look as bad and obvious as it did in person, but this is what it looks like to those that are curious

the bottom right portrait, or top right landscape like this photo, was where the yellow protruded the most

shame because minus bad off axis tint, and finickiness unless viewed straight on, it was a nice panel.

Not as nice as my 9.7 pro though which must have the nicest panel of that generation, because it was superior to both my 10.5", uniformity issues/off axis aside

that's what I'm doing. If that unit has a similarly perfect screen but without the white static flickering during the apple logo start-up screen ... I'm a happy camper.

$800 is too much $ to worry about a lose display connection cable...

I agree, thats suspect

Don't remember seeing that on either of my units, but I went straight to iOS 11 almost out of the box

even first boot up, don't remember seeing that but also may have not been paying the most attention

Both my serial#'s were DM fwiw, of my plagued yellow edge devices

I wonder if others find a perfect screen with DL

maybe DL is the factory to hope for,

Edit got a third serial number DM

Same problems. I give up!

Any excitement for this new gen is gone for me

A lot of this has to do with True tone and what seems to be different algorithms in the new iPad Pro models. I do notice at night with lamps on the display is definitely warmer than usual (no it's not night shift) but right now at work it's very much a cooler white and exactly what it was with my 9.7 pro.

Just food for thought.

I think my screen is pretty close to perfect. It's a little warmer than my iPad Pro 9.7 (that has a bluish white screen) so I'm not currently using true tone. It has an even, white screen with no yellow tint.

DMPT

Had the 10.5 a few days now and can't take it half the screen is so yellow when I put my iPhone 7 plus on it it's a huge diffrence, why can't this dam apple screens just be white all the models in apple shop are perfect I can't be arsed to keep taking it back for new one, even now typing on it half the keyboard is yellow and other half is pure white, this is so sad cos apart from that the iPad is amazing but I can't take the yellow anymore it's not even the whole display it's bottom left half
