I am planning on getting the Ipad. I just think about uses to much and think about the long term. All the major products i buy.. I have to think of long term. All of my nikon lenses ive invested in this past year are mostly the updated lenses.. And i see that i could have the best for the next 6 years till the next replacement comes around. I think long term on any thing that costs alot. Im about 99% sure i want the Ipad, and get the 64gb wifi version and just simply sell it used when 2nd gen comes out at a bargin rate. Maybe cover half the cost of the 2nd generation.

Not rude but to the point. The thread was answered many times in the first page. It will probably be about a year as that seems to be the standard with most apple stuff. Nobody can be more specific than April 2011 really.

You should definitely wait for the 2nd gen. Of course by the time that comes out, it won't be long until the 3rd gen, and the 4th gen won't be far behind. Probably best to just skip the whole thing and stick to pencil and paper...it's still on version 1 and going strong.

I doubt we'll see a plastic case for an Apple device like this ever again, given the radio-transparent ceramic they will apparently be debuting on the new iPhone this summer.
Dude, just go buy your ipad and enjoy it u're wasting your time. Just buy it now, use it for a year sell it, and buy the new one. Most Apple products hold their value pretty well. I sold my 13" MBP for $1150 a week before the newer one came out, so I spend a few hundred bucks every year instead of waiting 6 years and having to pay full price again.
Stop thinking long term with electronics, they are like dogs, they grow old quick.

Since Apple has, surprisingly, left out a camera in the iPad, this leads me to believe that they will soon release a 2nd Gen iPad that does have a camera along with increased functionality. I have therefore decided to hold off on the iPad as I plan on getting the new iPhone HD when it comes out. Has anyone else restricted their thirst for the iPad in order to get a camera?

Thanks for sharing, we are certainly comforted by your decision and hope you enjoy your new phone, the one that has not even been anounced and with no release date in siight, and while enjoying that while waiting for an Ipad custom made to your specifications that may or may not ever be released!
