Prosser is now saying preorders this Friday and release next Friday...

Seems likely, but I remind everyone that he's also:

- Said the Air 4 would launch on Sept 8th.
- Said the release was imminent on Sept 29th.
- Said that the date would be announced at today's event.

As with most leakers, people will only remember when he's finally right though, and marvel at how he does it.

That's fair, but I would be surprised if he's wrong about something so near

Well, he was wrong yesterday about the date being announced today. He also first declared a Sept 8th release of the Air 4, and was still swearing he was right on Sept 7th.

I have no doubt that he does have reliable sources, but sometimes he's just guessing, and he's guessed like 4 times for this launch. He's going to be right eventually if only because there's only so many days in October.

Steve Jobs era: pump out a revolutionary product fast and hard and show it off before you even knew that it was stable and won't crash.
Tim Cook era: have a product and produce a long drawn out video that has more effects and scenes of a campus and make a person wonder if they waited around a month to film and edit it...and then repeat bits of information that say the same thing and then show different commercials that say the same thing and review the same thing. Don't mention the product that you did the month old over produced video either...because, whatever, right?
I'm really hoping that they drop all the insanely OVERLY produced videos. I miss the old keynotes where they introduced the product, put out the bullet points of its features and speed and specs and then price. I didn't even mind when they started with the commercial ad and THEN showed the in-depth analysis. Now they seem to just show off computer generated fake scenes and labs and rooms of there gigantic building on campus and green-screen inserts of the presenter and a bunch of "magical" special effects. It always feels as though a high school student had a AV project and wanted to play with every effect in the system. I guess wipes, dissolves and other silly transitions have been replaced.
I want to apologize for those of you out there that really were saying: "WOW!!!! How did they go through the floor like that and rocket into another room through the walls?! OH NO...Lookout for that scientist! That was close! Geez whiz, now we are up on the roof! Oh my gosh! there's a tiny man that's living in that tiny room model! I totally forgot about the product we were even talking about!"

Seriously though, once I learned that you dont have to update every year then I’ve adjusted to what Apple has become and its fine.

I've also been waiting for the new Air to come, what a ? month! Bad product reveal Apple, very infuriating.

Just an FYI, Apple's back to school promotion ends on Oct 29th in Europe — and yes, I'm fully acknowledged that this might be irrelevant since only pro models are eligible for the offer — so technically speaking, launching the new Air on Oct 30th (Fri) would still meet their "available in October" claim... ?‍♂️

It almost feels like Apple is embarrassed to talk of this product. very odd..
Yes, even though the update of the Air does not seem rushed, we do know there has been issues with iPadOS 14.0.1 and possibly they are having bugs or problems with adapting the Air with some iPad Pro features (this is completely speculative, of course). My first thought at a possible issue with user satisfaction is the Pencil 2 being used on a device that has a higher latency and motion rate of 60Hz vs the 120Hz of that it was designed for.

I'm tired of waiting for something that was announced weeks ago.
The Apple store next to my office (in Germany) has iPad Pros 11", 126 GB on stock.
Can be picked up tomorrow morning. Just ordered it... ?
No more waiting for a phantom.

At this point I'm starting to think that maybe there is some kind of production uncertainty after all. I can't think of a single reason why they still won't even give a date otherwise.
Can I take a victory lap on my prediction? Haha jk, but I do think there are some serious supply constraints. Just look at shipping estimates on the iPad Pro, for instance. It was annoying that they announced it so early, hope it won’t be another AirPower.

I just ordered a Pro in the US from Costco. Not worth waiting and the price is actually pretty close.

Don't worry, it's not going to get scraped like AirPower. It's not a new product that they're trying to engineer for the first time. It's an iPad, with a body they've been making for years and a processor that they're about to ship by the millions in their phones. The only kind of new tech it has is TouchID in a new form. Worst case scenario would be that it's delayed into November, and I don't even believe that will happen.

I'm pretty sure, that Apple wants to stick with precedence and have the first device available with the new chip be the iPhones. Now, Prosser said that there will be preorders this Friday, but I feel like Apple would have announced that today if it were the case and he's really losing credibility.

Yeah my AirPower comment was tongue-and-cheek. I think it’ll be available this month but only when Apple is good and ready.

3-4 weeks for a Pro here (Poland). Air is like a unicorn, can't see/get one. I guess i'll save me some money this year. Might be a smart thing ;)
