If friday is the day, buy any accessories (pencil, keyboard, case etc) you want for it before that, if its anything like the last holdback release a few years ago all the accessories were out of stock on launch day.

I ended up just buying an 11 inch Pro in a store on Monday. I needed more than 64GB storage and that brought me into the iPad Pro price ballpark anyway. It's the first iPad I've owned in about 4 years and I'm mostly very happy, but kind of surprised by how clunky iPadOS feels compared to iOS in certain areas.

I did the same. Delivery from Apple Store nov. 18. I think it's a great device!

Your guess is as good as anyone else's at this point. Apple certainly hasn't said that will be the case.

Exactly. Apple hasn't even said that it will be available to order on Friday at all. I can see people waking up early (or staying up late) on Friday morning and being disappointed when it's still not available.

This drawn-out release has put the Air 4 that much closer to Black Friday sales in the U.S. I think I’m going to wait and see if there are some decent sales on the 2020 iPP 11” that will bring the iPP 256GB closer in price to the Air 4 256GB. I’m really leaning towards the 11” Gen 2 now, and it won’t hurt to wait.

That's where I'm at now. I have a 7th gen 32GB right now, and I needed more space so was thinking about getting the 128GB 8th gen for $429. What's that? For $170 more I can get the much faster and upgraded new iPad Air? I have to do that! Wait...that's only 64GB, so I'll have to get the 256GB for $750. But for only $50 more I can get the iPad Pro 11" in 128GB, which is perfect for me! Wait a second...

Yeah, it's really strange. Waiting sucks, but at this point we might as well assume that it's the 31st so that anything earlier is a pleasant surprise. I'm tired of thinking I've figured out when to expect it only to be disappointed when it's wrong.

I would expect the reviews to appear at or around the time the new Air is available to order and there haven’t been any so far.

I am surprised they didn’t just say something like it would be available from mid or late October, if that was going to be the case.

The 2020 Air does seem to be generating a lot more interest on these forums than its predecessor, and it’s worth remembering that the 3rd generation model received excellent reviews. I’m interested to know how many people are upgrading to this from a base model iPad or replacing an existing Air, as opposed to those looking at this instead of a Pro model? I get the impression that a lot of people may fall into the latter category.

They made the wait so long that I'm not buying one in October. It would be stupid to do so and only end up with a 2 week return period. November 1st brings with it the holiday return window, which opens it up to 2 months.

Haven't holiday returns started already? I know my Amazon orders this October are showing return window up to January 31.

Does it really take more than 2 weeks to decide if you want to keep something though?

I thought I had a previous Air, but I have a 2017 iPad Pro so that's what I'm switching from, with my partner getting my old iPad.

I did the same as well. Nov 4-12 delivery.
Hopefully the Air will at least be in one of the Apple Stores and I'll see it in person.
Then I'll decide which one to keep.

I think a lot of people will go for the Air now instead of the Pro models. I’m sure the price gap will widen further when Apple release the next generation of Pro models.

I’m less sure that people will upgrade from the base model iPads to the Air, which is what I think Apple had hoped would happen. The 8th generation iPad is terrific value for money and it’s quite a big jump from that to the Air.

After Apple being radio silent on the Air4, I bought the Pro 11 last night. They even had local delivery so I spent most of the night setting it up. I am happy with choosing to go this route versus waiting.

Not sure what Apple is thinking right now.. I wonder if their priority at the moment is the IPhone in regards to the new chipset and supplies for the Air4 are just too limited? If that was the case, maybe they should have held off on announcing it. I feel like they are losing an opportunity with students that need an iPad for school and those that just need an update.

Any confirmation of the 2018 Smart Keyboard/cover fits the 2020 Air? (Camera position looks right but Apple isn’t against moving things a millimeter off just to break accessory compatibility).

Unless the delay swayed a buyer to a Chromebook, I don't think they care one way or the other...as long as you end up buying an iPad from them.
