I did the same. Delivery from Apple Store nov. 18. I think it's a great device!I ended up just buying an 11 inch Pro in a store on Monday. I needed more than 64GB storage and that brought me into the iPad Pro price ballpark anyway. It's the first iPad I've owned in about 4 years and I'm mostly very happy, but kind of surprised by how clunky iPadOS feels compared to iOS in certain areas.
Your guess is as good as anyone else's at this point. Apple certainly hasn't said that will be the case....so are these pre-orders gonna go live this Friday (same time as the iPhone 12)?

I believe revenue is recognized when the device is shipped...that’s when your credit card is charged typically. What's something? That's what the page has looked like since they announced it on Sept 15th. At least, in US and Canada.
Exactly. Apple hasn't even said that it will be available to order on Friday at all. I can see people waking up early (or staying up late) on Friday morning and being disappointed when it's still not available.
This drawn-out release has put the Air 4 that much closer to Black Friday sales in the U.S. I think I’m going to wait and see if there are some decent sales on the 2020 iPP 11” that will bring the iPP 256GB closer in price to the Air 4 256GB. I’m really leaning towards the 11” Gen 2 now, and it won’t hurt to wait.
...it could even launch on 31st October then I guess seeing that it is still 'October'!
WTF is Apple playing at..........???
Haven't holiday returns started already? I know my Amazon orders this October are showing return window up to January 31.They made the wait so long that I'm not buying one in October. It would be stupid to do so and only end up with a 2 week return period. November 1st brings with it the holiday return window, which opens it up to 2 months.

I’m interested to know how many people are upgrading to this from a base model iPad or replacing an existing Air, as opposed to those looking at this instead of a Pro model? I get the impression that a lot of people may fall into the latter category.
That was a great iPad, the longest one I ever owned and I sold mine in March 16 when I got a Pro 9.7. It’s going to be a big upgrade for you....I'm upgrading from the original first gen iPad Air 2!
I would expect the reviews to appear at or around the time the new Air is available to order and there haven’t been any so far.
I am surprised they didn’t just say something like it would be available from mid or late October, if that was going to be the case.
The 2020 Air does seem to be generating a lot more interest on these forums than its predecessor, and it’s worth remembering that the 3rd generation model received excellent reviews. I think a lot of people will go for the Air now instead of the Pro models. I’m sure the price gap will widen further when Apple release the next generation of Pro models.I thought I had a previous Air, but I have a 2017 iPad Pro so that's what I'm switching from, with my partner getting my old iPad.
After Apple being radio silent on the Air4, I bought the Pro 11 last night. They even had local delivery so I spent most of the night setting it up. I am happy with choosing to go this route versus waiting.
Not sure what Apple is thinking right now.. I wonder if their priority at the moment is the IPhone in regards to the new chipset and supplies for the Air4 are just too limited? If that was the case, maybe they should have held off on announcing it. I feel like they are losing an opportunity with students that need an iPad for school and those that just need an update.
