Do any of you have an idea of when we can expect to see this new iPad on Amazon after Apple releases it?

I have a bunch of Amazon gift cards that I’m using towards the cost of this iPad so buying directly from Apple isn’t an option this time around, unfortunately.

I think they might go live tomorrow and the shipping will start next week, after the A14 is fully presented on iPhone event. Still doesn't really make sense why there was a September event, if they want to release the iPad Air after iPhone presentation, but it seems they are waiting for it...

And the reason why they didn't say the exact date in October was just to not hint the upcoming iPhone event?

I'm forever hitting the refresh button in my browser and hoping this link turns bright blue so that I can click it!!!!!!

Well, they introduced Apple Watch 6, Apple Watch SE and regular iPad that you can purchase already, so it actually made sense to have an event in September.

I'm super interested in this.

If Apple finally ditches Lightning in the upcoming iPhone, I'm getting a new iPhone (for the first time since iPhone 5) and this new iPad Air and also the first ARM Mac that comes around.

May the Lord have mercy on my wallet.

....are we under the assumption that orders may go live next week after Tuesday's iPhone 12 event then?

No assumptions, only guesses.

I think that it could go on sale tomorrow. Releases often happen on Fridays, and even if they are intentionally trying to keep it off the streets until after the iPhone event, taking orders tomorrow will still mean that at best it would start arriving in people’s hands around the same time as the event, so I don’t see a reason to wait any longer than that given that by the end of next week they will likely be dealing with iPhone preorders.

That’s all just guessing though.

0% I'm buying a new iPhone, Mac and iPad then. Just saying.
Practically all Macs since 2016 have usb c as standard, along with all iPad Pro’s 2018 onwards and now the iPad Air 4 has usb c, so your covered on that front TomOSeven. It’s just the iPhones that are unlikely to have usb c, but you never know they might do in the future.

Based on what you said and that you’re 100% right, it does really highlight how daft the situation is. For a product line it’s a messy important detail.

Some people speculate that they will skip USB-C all together on the iPhone and go from lightning to totally portless. I don't know if I believe that though. Wireless charging still isn't ubiquitous or refined enough to make that practical as the only charging option in many situations.

Yeah, it would likely mean not being able to charge your phone in a number of situations and the elimination of all accessories that require a ported connection. Also, wireless chargers require wires, too, and they're often bulky. All I need when I leave the house is a cable and I can plug into my car or somewhere else.

I think we're a long way from a portless iPhone.

You mean you don’t have a wireless charger in the car??!!! 😱
It’s really amazing how many new cars don’t have them built in these days though.
I‘m having wireless charging fitted to my 3 series when the new CarPlay head unit is fitted next month.

I’m not really interested in wireless charging in my car right now. My phone already charges fast and I like being able to move it around and use it while it’s charging.

I’m not sure if this would be physically possible, but it’d be cool if one day we had router-like devices or hubs that transmit charging signals that can be turned on like bluetooth or wifi when we need to charge. A truly wireless charging experience.

Wireless chargers in many cars are SH*T. When you listen to music or run navi thru carplay, they have trouble to charge your phone at all, % is "stuck"... if you're lucky.
If Apple goes "no ports" on the iPhone, im out. I very often use my phone while charging, can't do that on a wireless puck.

Just curious, but does Apple often make store pages for unavailable products? I’m trying to remember what else they did this with.

It just seems like a lot of potential “impulse purchases“ (“faster” chip, cute colors) will be lost because you can’t preorder it. And now with a new IPhone/AppleTV/HomePod/AirPod/AirTag event in a few days then I could see a lot of people just losing interest.

I think this occurs quite often. New products are posted immediately after keynote and preorders go live later. It usually doesn't take this long before it's available for ordering though.

I know for sure we had similar delays with the XR. I had to put the preorder date for that on my calendar so I don't forget (to replace an iPhone 6+ with rapidly degrading battery).

Considering buying the new iPad Air when it arrives.
I have a late 2013 Macbook Pro 13 that is connected to my OLED TV in the bedroom today via HDMI (1080p @ 120hz). (when I do not use it as a laptop)
Uses a Magic Mouse 2 and Magic keyboard with the Macbook.

Can I use the iPad Air in the same way?
- Can I use the Magic Mouse 2 and Keyboard at the same time on the tablet?
- What resolution do I get on 65 "4K OLED when I connect iPad Air with HDMI?

Looking forward to your answers.
Was it a stupid question, or don't any of you know the answer(s)?

Any Bluetooth mouse and keyboard can be used at the same time.
Not sure what resolution you’ll get but the display will mirror the iPad screen, unless you’re watching certain media apps you will get black boarders.

Thanks for answering. Good to know about mouse/keyboard use.
I thought I would get at least 1080p@60hz with cabled HDMI connection, but I was hoping for more.
What you are referring to are wireless mirroring?

I don't follow many launches very closely, but the only comparable example I can think of is the iPhone X.

It was announced at the September event along with the iPhone 8/8 Plus, and preorders didn't begin until late October or maybe early November. Its page on the Apple site was prominently featured the entire time.

Two differences in that case though. For one, the iPhone X was a major tentpole item for them, so they wanted to promote it as much as possible. Secondly, they gave a specific preorder/release date right off the bat.
