Talking to myself here too, with this post. I don't understand the impatience and all of the "conspiracy theories." Apple announced the iPad Air 4 will come out in October. It's only October 6. Come on people, chill out. Time goes by quickly. It will be the end of October in a blink of an eye. Enjoy life and the many things we have to make it better, or at least we think it makes it so. Seriously, it will come out when it comes out. Does it really matter if we get it today, or in 30 days? Will it make that big a difference in our quality of life?

You’re right. I’m not really bothered by it, just really curious. And honestly, with covid having cancelled or disrupted so many things that I normally enjoy, maybe I’m a bit more invested in getting a new iPad than I normally would be. ?

I know that no one has a way to know this for sure, but do you guys think that the Pro 2018/2020 will still feel faster than the Air 2020 for single-core tasks because they have 120hz? Or will the speed of the A14 in the Air outweigh its lower refresh rate?

I'm waiting for reviews before I make a decision. I plan to use whatever I buy for the next five years, so I want more information than is currently available.

I bought an iPad Pro recently and want to use them simultaneously so I can see which one I want to keep. That 14 day window is creeping up.

If you want to use it for the next 5 years get the Pro version w/ 6 GB RAM. Or just wait until next spring for the 2021 Pro.

At least next week's event is now official.

That makes it pretty likely that the Air 4 will be on sale on or before the 13th. I can't imagine that it would go on sale after the iPhone despite being announced a month earlier. It's weird that they're coming out at practically the same time. Even under normal economic circumstances most people don't have the cash to buy both of these products, and will likely have to choose one or the other.

Agree, but that’s why Apple has the payment plans. I think the latest it’ll be available is Monday/Tuesday. That way you won’t actually have it in your hands until after event. But like someone else said, just let us order it and ship it when according to your product timeline.

Starting to look like it’ll be released next week after the iPhone event which is honestly just so stupid from apple by announcing the product a month before. If their so afraid of the A14 performances being released prior to the flagship phone, why not just announce the iPad Air during the iPhone event. Just doesn’t make sense. Allowing us to pre order now and then ship next week would’ve been the best option.

In fairness, for most people in the US, the iPhone doesn't really make a difference in their monthly wireless bill. It's only the iPad that they're likely to pay cash for.

I’m not even sure if that’s available in the UK, I’m assuming it is. But I’ve never used it before. I tend to just buy it outright and with apple releasing two products at the same time with iPhone and iPad, are people really going to be spending above £1.5k for two items? Assuming they go for the pro edition of the iPhone. Imo they’ve honestly stunk this up and should’ve just swallowed their pride and released theAir 4 either when it was announced or sometime this week. Or, do what they should’ve done and just announced it during the iPhone event so that their precious A14 benchmarks doesn’t get leaked.

Agree, because you also have to think some people already bought the Apple Watch 6 and outside of the phone you have new headphones, Apple TV and AirTags coming. Lots of money to be spent.

Exactly my point. Now having bought the Watch Series 6, and plan to buy the Air 4 and newest iPhone, that’s just over 2k alone on three products. It’s crazy.

Still don't see the issue. There's a bunch of Apple devices released every year. Would 1-2 months gap between releases really make that big of a difference?

Personally, I set aside funds per paycheck for entertainment expenses (including tech) and I just work off an annual budget. Besides, I don't need to buy every single device that Apple releases and I certainly don't need flagships in all product categories.
