I have dealt with Samsung service multiple times. I have a Samsung refrigerator, washer, dryer, and two big screen TV's. Not any better or worse than any other tech company to deal with....including Apple.Wait till you have to deal with Samsung service lol
Oh, now I see, that was someone else in this chat. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I appreciate your perspective. 👍🏻. I use all Apple devices now, I do have access to a Windows PC, but don’t really use it for anything because I don’t really like Windows all that much. My favorite computer is my iPad, and it’s the one I use the most for my workflow. I have a Mac Mini, but it isn’t really essential for anything, just a nice to have so I can still tinker with macOS and stay up to date. That and saving local backups of my iPad when I’m testing betas. When I originally bought the iPad, I thought I would use it as a companion device to my MacBook I had at the time. Once I began using it, I discovered I didn’t need a MacBook anymore, and many aspects of my workflow work better on iPadOS than they did on the Mac. So then I decided to replace my MacBook with an M1 Mac Mini, and I love the combo of the two. It is handy having a Mac Mini, because I can use it to manage external storage drives I wouldn’t want to carry around, and use it as my own private “cloud storage” and “cloud PC” if I want to via VNC. I do have a smaller cheap Android tablet as well, but I never use it because the apps that are essential to my use case aren’t available on Android. I’m glad that it is a good fit for you and others, I think both have their pros and cons, and so it’s just more a matter of preferences and workflow when deciding between the two. I think some are way too tribalistic and quick to judge both platforms, which I think is a shame. 👍🏻Someone here did call Stage Manager a joke. It just wasn't me. I haven't used the files app on DeX enough to have an opinion yet. Only been using this for two weeks compared to iPad for 14 years. I am not going to say any tech sucks because I love tech in general. Remember, I am a self proclaimed techno nerd/geek. Gets kind of tiring going around to all the individual forums to talk about individual devices, brands, and OS's, when I am a member of what I personally consider the best tech forum on the internet. I just wish my love of tech with no camps was relevant here.
Samsung uses Gorilla glass 5 on their Tablets. Personal question. Does being abrasive to others on the internet give you some kind of pleasure? That would be a major turnoff, probably cheap glass lol
Out of curiosity, did you have “Center Window” enabled for Stage Manager? I noticed that apps were opening full screen, and that isn’t the normal behavior I experience using Stage Manager. For me, they open at a more medium size on the screen.I welcome you to make me a video of Stage Manager doing this. While I do like Stage Manager, DeX definitely has the better windowing implementation.
And here is Stage Manager on my M1 iPad Pro 11
Yeah, I’m really excited about that as well! I’ve been watching for it since iPadOS 17, and my Substack has seen exponential growth since sites like Macworld and MacRumors have linked to it! 👍🏻Oooh! Looking forward to this...

Too bad!Wrong thread, this is iPad as a laptop replacement not samdung.
I just checked Settings, and I don’t see a setting for “Center Window”, I believe it’s just a default behavior of Stage Manager. It could be that those apps were already open full screen before turning on Stage Manager, which would then explain why they were opening in full screen. Otherwise, I’m not completely sure what’s causing that. 👍🏻Your experience and mine is very similar. I also bought my iPad Pro as a companion device, but quickly realized I could replace my MBP with it. I also bought an M1 Mac Mini, and now have an M2 Pro Mac Mini. You can read the whole story at the link in my signature.
My M1 iPP 11 is my Laptop
Yes!
Good question. I just enabled Stage Manager to make the video. Didn't mess with anything else.
@SurfsalotToo bad!
You sir, are about to disappear from my computer screen. It's real easy to be considerate and courteous to others on the internet....even when you disagree with them. Good rule of thumb to follow is, don't say stuff to people on the internet that wouldn't have the nerve to say to their face.
I totally disagree about Stage Manager. Stage Manager is much better in my opinion than my experience with display models using Dex on Android tablets. I wouldn’t call either a “joke”.
And calling Android’s file app a “real” filesystem vs iPad’s Files app is a non-starter. They’re both real file systems. And they’re both mostly the same in functionality. You move files around and organize them into folders. That’s true of both.
I’m glad that Android works for you and others. But saying iPadOS’s features are a “joke” or “not real” seems a bit too far.
You do you... no need to justify your moves, if it works for you... that's all that matters.Guessing I'm gonna shock some people here. After being an Apple user for 30 years, and using my M1 iPad Pro 11 exclusively for the mobile aspect of my real estate business for over 2 years, I am adding Android to my repertoire. I tried Android(Samsung One UI and DeX) on a Galaxy Tab A9+ I got on sale for $229.00 at BestBuy a couple weeks ago. The hardware is no match for my M1 iPad Pro, but I like the software experience much better with the One UI and DeX. On my Tab A9+ with DeX enabled, I now have a true desktop environment to work on. Hard to believe, I know...but I will, like @DeepSix, be using a Samsung device for my real estate work now. Probably be getting a Tab S9 Ultra/S10 Ultra, and a Galaxy S24/S25 Ultra. My wife already wants my Tab A9+ to replace her iPad, and a S24 to replace her iPhone. Yes, the phones can also provide the same desktop environment attached to external monitor, mouse, and keyboard with DeX. Let's see you do that iPhone.
I disagree. How is the file system not “real”? Am I just hallucinating when I use the Files app? Or perhaps it is a “real” file system, just one you don’t like as much.iPad OS has never had a real file management system annd never will because of how locked it is. Android you can drag and drop from any device. And quickshare works just as good as airdrop.
Samsung One UI is night and day better, they aren’t even in the same universe.
It's a matter of perspective... as @Kal Madda mentioned, who really needs to have that many apps open.I welcome you to make me a video of Stage Manager doing this. While I do like Stage Manager, DeX definitely has the better windowing implementation.
One thing where Android's file system seems genuinely superior is that it basically treats the entire phone as a flash drive. So you can take some photos, then connect your android phone to a windows laptop, search the contents like you would with external storage, locate the files and drag them to your PC.I disagree. And again, I’m glad that you like Android, but One UI isn’t objectively better to all people, just better for you in your subjective opinion, which I think is perfectly fine. We each have our preferences, and I respect that, let’s just not get too carried away thinking our preferences are the only ones that matter or exist. 👍🏻
I guess that’s true, but when you plug an iPhone into a Mac, it does allow you to access files and things stored on the iPhone from the Finder app. I think on Windows, you use the iTunes app, now I think it’s called something like “Apple Devices” or something. That allows you to access the iPhone’s files on a Windows PC. Personally, I prefer this, because it makes my data much more secure and harder to access. One thing where Android's file system seems genuinely superior is that it basically treats the entire phone as a flash drive. With my iPhone, I had to plug it in to my work laptop with a usb-c to lightning cable, open the gallery app, and loading the preview window would like fail half the time. I ended up just uploading the photos I wanted to transfer over to OneDrive, and then downloading them from OneDrive on my PC, and I have not bothered with wired transfers ever since. Like this works for me because I am aware of the limitations of iOS and have since evolved my workflows to work around them, but for less tech-savvy colleagues, I can't extend the same advice to them because they haven't invested in the same infrastructure that I have. At least with Android, I do have spare thunderbolt cables (the generic kind) that I carry around and can load out at moment's notice.

Why are you even on this forum? As far as I can tell you just enjoy being a provocateurTransferring any files onto an iOS device is like trying to walk through a brick wall. Ridiculous amount of runaround and excess hassle. Never again for me.
Not really. For me, it's either airdrop or cloud storage. Hardly a hassle, but maybe I have already normalised the process after dealing with it for so many years.Transferring any files onto an iOS device is like trying to walk through a brick wall.
