iPad can definitely be used as a laptop replacement for most cases especially with the changes in iPadOS 26. However for some cases I am still not satisfied with the Files app. It is one of the reasons why I decided not to get the Magic Keyboard for my brand new 11" Pro and besides I also have my MacBook near me at all times.

For truly nasty websites which are totally incompatible with the webkit version which lives on iPad i use Puffin Browser. It is quite rudimentary and slow but when nothing else works it is able to do job.
Oh yeah, I think I recall you talking about that! Thanks for the suggestion. 👍🏻 This may be a great option for you @Supermallet! 👍🏻

Thanks! Between this and the browser you previously mentioned I likely could do all the work I need to do on the iPad...but I decided to hold off for the moment due to price and the time it would take to sell my current MacBook and iPad to recoup the cost. The timing just isn't right.

Awesome, I’m glad I could be helpful. 👍🏻

Now that the Liquid Glass effect has become less ‘liquid’ in beta 3, I strongly believe — and hope — that we’ll soon get a slider to control its intensity.
Any other guesses?
I know there were settings in Accessibility to adjust the effect and make it more or less transparent. I don’t know if they just completely removed the ability to make it more transparent, or if they just moved the slider less transparent by default. 👍🏻

It’s a button, and if you now enable it, it only reduces the Liquid Glass effect even more.

To those using the latest iPadOS 26 (beta 3)… have you experienced any bugs regarding wallpaper not displaying on external display?

I’m not encountering that issue. I’m on Beta 3, and the desktop monitor is still working with my wallpaper. Perhaps a restart will fix it? 👍🏻. (PS. Lighting is weird in the photo, the two displays don’t look that different in reality, though the monitor is a bit dimmer than the display, possibly my brightness setting or something. 👍🏻)

Yeah, I did a reboot and my custom wallpapers not displaying on the external monitor. But when I applied one from Apple… it works.

That stinks. I guess you’re running into a bug that I’m not. Yeah, this wallpaper I’m using is even a custom wallpaper, so that’s pretty odd. Hopefully it’s resolved in the next beta. 👍🏻

Oddly enough, it's been what I been asking for... to have two different set of wallpapers lol

Oh, I wonder if it’s a feature then. Are there any settings for it in the Settings app?
Umm.. to be honest, I think it’s a bug. I don’t see anything in the Settings for it…. I have tons of Wallpapers setup saved. I like making custom wallpapers for both Lockscreen and HomeScreen.

For my setup, I like having a different Lockscreen & HomeScreen… so let me back up and show you what happened. I rebooted… applied a new setup, choose a different Homescreen wallpaper from Apple. It successfully showed up on my external monitor.

So, then I went back into Settings and decided to choose one from my already saved Wallpaper setups and it doesn’t change the one from Apple on the external display. So, if anything… I can go in apply a new one from Apple and have that applied while going to my saved Wallpaper setups to use on my iPad.

Oh, ok, that makes sense. 👍🏻. Maybe part of the difference is that for me, I have a clean-slate as far as custom wallpapers are concerned, since I just switched to the new iPad (which is working out beautifully so far, btw. zero regrets!). So I added that custom wallpaper with Beta 2 trying out a couple different wallpapers. 👍🏻. I’m thinking I’m going to make my own in Designer soon that compliments the Liquid Glass UI well. 👍🏻

Interesting. Never experienced it on beta 2… that’s what prompted me to ask if anyone has experienced it, but tbh I’m not seeking for it to be fixed lol.

As soon as I updated to beta 3… plugged up my monitor and seen a black/blank screen, then decided to start a new wallpaper setup and use a non-custom wallpaper (Apple’s default ones). And viola, no black/blank screen… are you plugged in via USB-C to USB-C?

I’m working on a new desk setup with an M4 iPad Pro and a Studio Display with Magic Trackpad/Keyboard. The Magic Trackpad has some lag to it, has anyone else had this happen?

Don't see that on my M4 iPad Pro and MKB.
