I'm in Northern Virginia, I'm hoping they have some in stock in the states, Just seems kind of of weird I order a AirTag on pre-order day and it was shipped from Pennsylvania- I was just surprised that they had stock already in the states, I know depends on demand, if they don't have any in stock in the states than I know they will ship from china. I hoping they have a alot of stock in the states that means if they do that means they can either ship them out earlier, or wait a little so they arrive on launch day. I know sometimes people get there order earlier

I don’t think they actually have any stock in the states, because otherwise there wouldn’t be such a long wait between April 30th and now. What probably happened was that on April 30th, apple gathered up preorders and placed that order for the first batch of products. Now that I think about it... I wonder if the first batch is already sitting in some warehouse in California and just waiting to ship out the week of 5/17!

They could have some in stock already at the warehouse since if the pre-orders were April 30th and won't launch intil May 21 - so I say that gives apple time to get some stock built up, and since i order mine couple on May 3 and I got the May 21 to 28 time frame

Did you order a 12.9 or 11 inch?

Thanks to all who answered my question about “order time of day” and shipping time.

My thoughts are that the only ones who will be getting the “earliest” delivery window are the ones who placed their orders in the first 15 minutes. Then, the next window may have been in the next 15 minutes.

My confirmation email was 39 minutes after the site was opened for ordering, and my delivery window is 2 weeks after the initial window. I’m thinking that I’m in the third group.

Obviously, it will be storage size dependent as well, whether engraving was ordered(that actually seems to be speeding orders up, oddly enough), and possibly even colour dependent as well. Space Grey seems to be the most popular. I don’t know about the storage size, but possibly the 256, 512 GB and 1 TB sizes are more popular than the smallest and largest sizes.

There seems to be lots of stock of the 11 inch version.

Ordered a 11 inch wifi only 256 GB space grey
Oh that’s why you got May 21-28. Because there was a lot 11 inch still available. The 12.9 went very fast for those dates even ordering by 8:15am est after it disappeared from my cart 5 times from 8am - 8:15am.

There seems to be some belief that engraved orders are moving along faster than non-engraved. That is usually not the case. I doubt there will be any difference between those two when it comes to ship and delivery time frames. I believe engraved orders are getting more visibility, because they have additional prep time.

Personally, I like the idea of engraving, but I sell my gear a year or two down the road. I imagine engraving can only hurt resale value or not at all, so net zero or negative.

Yes I know. I was just saying that you got the may 21-28 date because there was still a lot stock available compared to purchasing the 12.9 on April 30th which is what I did.

Because I've been through several pre-launches in the past. I'm just going by the history of how Apple operates.

On one end you don't think they have any stock in the states, then on the other you actually believe they do.

But what I'm trying to say is... obviously, Apple is still building up stock to ship. But when its time to process orders. Some will have status of shipped while being located in the states and some will be in China. Perhaps, it's based off region.

Tbh, the time will have dragged on for so long. I'm not as excited as I was when preorders were open. I can't believe it's only been a week and we have about 2 more weeks until it actually arrive. But I'll enjoy the iPad Pro when it gets here, but it's still running iPadOS 14. The enjoyment won't really last long.

I ordered the 12.9" and somewhat hope for good news from WWDC. I'm not sure if I'll keep it if nothing happens. Don't know what I need a M1 in my iPad for then if I can't push it. I'll probably send it back then, get a cheaper iPad and a MacBook Air or something.

I'm excited for the screen though.
