I wasn’t aware of a BB thread, but having an iPad delivery thread all in one place is no big deal. And @iPad Bro, there’s no updated status on my order. I think we will see progress on our orders next week…. Since Apple has to ship our orders to Best Buy.
I just hope we get our iPad Pros when everyone else is getting theirs. As for my card being charged... Yeah, Best Buy took my money as soon as I placed my order and I thought that was standard practice for them. One of the reasons I bought from Best Buy, actually. I didn’t want other charges sucking away at my iPad Pro funds to ensure I got mine paid for immediately.

I find it interesting that you were given a four day window. My window has always been 7 days, and I think that most people here have been given a 7 day window as well.
4 day window is a little strange, my experience has normally been 7 days like you. Regarding Toronto, Concord tends to be the main hub for sorting deliveries to my area, and I’ve received other products like iPhones on launch even though delivery said otherwise. But your explanation does makes sense. It’s hard to really get a good sense of where things are for Canadian orders based on past experiences.

Just saw a pending charge for payment of the IPad pro on my VISA yesterday... so it means "pending delivery" that started Monday is about to switch to "Delivery". Hopefully today!

The card gets charged immediately then disappears a couple days later. Unless, there’s a charge now on your card? Then that’s new…

What would you say to a BB case where there is no cc charge, an email announced a "release" date "changed" to May 21, but when looking at order details online there is a note about no release date having been established but notification of such change would follow?

Just adding another data point for Canadian buyers, this time with the less popular 11" model.

11" iPad Pro 256GB Space Grey
Confirmation email: 8:11am EST (Apr 30)
Delivery dates from Apple: May 25-28
Shipping to Richmond Hill (north of Toronto)
Amex showed pending charge for a few days after ordering and now shows nothing (normal behaviour). I'm expecting a charge when it moves to 'Preparing for Shipment'.

Interestingly when I was ordering on the 30th, any Toronto postal code I put for delivery gave me May 21 delivery, but postal codes outside the city, like Richmond Hill/Markham in my case, delivery was May 25. I have a feeling it'll get here on the 21st (presumed launch day) as most other Apple products have come on launch to my postal code.

Envy you guys in GTA.

I ordered a 12.9-inch Wi-Fi 256 GB SG, got my confirmation email at 8:04 a.m. EST on launch day. But my window is 26 May - 31 May...

I live in Montreal, maybe the shipment will go from Concord ?

Umm.. I don’t think you should have a CC charge. It’s still in preorder status because Apple haven’t shipped them to BB yet. Right now, there’s no updates on our orders until BB emails us regarding getting stock from Apple.

That is surprising that they would actually place the full charge immediately, when you have to wait several weeks, since I would have thought that they have a policy similar to most companies like Apple or Amazon, where those charges only take place just prior to the item being shipped.

I don’t any experience with Best Buy myself with respect to preorders, since any orders that I’ve placed with them in the past have been for in stock items, and they were shipped within a day of ordering.

The only explanation that I can think of for your early charge was so that Best Buy would have the funds on hand to ensure stock from Apple in order to fill your order.

Iirc, for regular credit card payments, Best Buy does a pre-auth on the card which is dropped eventually.

I think if you use PayPal or Apple Pay as the payment method though, there's no mechanism for delay and it charges you asap.

Preparing to ship. Had a scare because at 8 this morn they had a problem with my payment even though I used Apple Card.

That certainly makes sense, and is exactly how most companies operate. However, if Best Buy indeed charged the OP the full charge several weeks before shipping, that doesn't seem right to me.

I’m still wondering whether local Apple Stores will have any stock on release day, and whether one could do an “ in store pickup” then?

Its a nice option for those of us stuck with later delivery dates, especially considering that I live within walking distance of my local Apple Store.

On some launches, I have been able to place an order for in-store pickup the morning of the release date. I don’t know if that will be an option this time, but it might be worth a try.

I’ll wait and see, and as long as my order hasn’t proceeded to “preparing to ship” at that time, it’s worth a try.

They may be restricting in store pickup due to COVID, but that’s in a state of flux right now.

Best Buy always places a hold on the funds for pre orders. They did for the Samsung Galaxy Pro book I ordered too.

Sadly no, I also orded from ATT. I was in the second round of pre orders. My order still showing May 28th-June 7th ship date. I was hoping the timeline would firm up but it seems like its not gonna happen.

12.9-inch iPad Pro Wi-Fi 1TB ordered a couple minutes after launch

From day one it's been "Arrives May 21 - May 28"

Was charged yesterday but there were payment issues so payment failed. Called this morning to resolve and the charge went through and the apple associate said there would be no delay due to the payment snafu.

Currently still in "processing" and still "Arrives May 21 - May 28"
