I was meant to be in NYC yesterday (Friday), but - that's not happening. My friend has my iPad that he got for me safe. I may get him to ship it via UPS/FedEx when all this crap has cleared from the sky.

If you bought it on ebay, maybe they marked it at the inflated ebay price instead of the rrp?

Ouch, imagine the guy, buying the iPad for £5500 from Ebay! I think that's the highest price so far. I honestly hope that the seller put the full price on the form and customs picked up on it. :D That would be the price of a new MB for Her Majesty's customs!

If your still going i would wait. Else you will have to pay the $100 shipping plus VAT!

I'm crossing my fingers that due to the ash cloud there may be a backlog of parcels at customs and they just let a load through to clear it and bypass paying VAT :)

Id be happy to wait a couple of extra days to say £80 :D

So do you guys think the iPad is likely to sell out quickly once it hits the UK as well?

Without a doubt. They'll release here when they have the minimal stock to make a launch viable. They'll have nowhere near enough to fully satisfy demand.

It sounds like you are dealing with a drug dealer! :)

Haha indeed, thankfully I had burnt myself out on anticipation after they announced the delay, so I'm not tearing my hair out or anything - but so far, 2 out of 3 large Apple Stores near him are sh*t outta 32GBs..

Seriously hope I slip through the customs net.. if it's declared as a gift and wrapped in wrapping paper, surely it will slide?

I'm not so sure current stocks actually have anything to do with this; perhaps, perhaps not. Some have suggested it might be due to insisting that the 3G and WiFi are launched together due to carrier demands for equal competition internationally, as outside the US they are prob gonna offer subsidised iPads.

£5500, it would've been cheaper for them to pay someone to fly to the US and buy one for them, and keep one for themselves. Probably quicker too...

Anyone affected by the shutdown of the air space in (especially West-)Europe? It could take another week before the iPad ships now...

Predictions are bad, new ash is coming.

Oh, and a joke for those who are Dutch or English and know about Icesave (Iceland owes us money).

"Iceland, send cash, not ash!"

Well.. I reckon airports will be open on Monday, if this drags on much longer it's going to cause unprecedented chaos.

This htread has kind of died down a bit, i think we need some new news or something,

All we really need is the prices and we can be happy,

oh and the release dates for some parts of the EU.

Any speculation???

Nope, mine got in just in time.

However, I am effected by crappy ParcelForce. Says it was out for delivery at 02:00 this morning in my local town. Now 16:53 and STILL no sight of it.

AND, like a sad hermit I sat in all day while it's been glorious weather.

FAIL!!!
