I (unsurprisingly) caved and bought one off eBay today. 32GB plus the Apple case (which I'm selling). Should be here Thursday.

Which seller did you buy that off?

I have been checking Ebay and pretty much every apparent 'UK' seller is sneakerly faking it, and the Ipads are actually located in USA with no VAT currently paid e.t.c e.t.c

I did not find any for a worthwhile price actually located in the UK.

I would double check their ads/delivery times e.t.c to make sure if I were you.

Also contact the seller.

Yeah, there are plenty who aren't actually in the UK, or are UK sellers stuck in the US due to the volcano.

Mine's coming from a nice chap in Scotland. He's posting it tomorrow so it'll be here Thursday :)

I'd set myself a limit of £550 for a 16GB (I figure they'll be around £450 over here - I was willing to pay £100 to get it early) and I managed to get this 32GB (including the Apple case) for £600. I figure I can sell the case for about £40, so I'm not far from my initial 16GB price, and I've got double the memory.

Yeah it's more than it'll cost here, probably by about £50/60 or so, but I'm willing to pay that to stop the constant trawling of eBay etc! :)

Ha.. I might have actually paid that price , not much more then bundleboxing it tomorrow, he got any left? lol

Maybe it varies between depots but mine sailed through in comparison. I was charged £30.30 for it. Parcel Force should be delivering tomorrow.

If you only got charged £30.30 then by my calculations the package must have only been marked as being worth £173 . Are you sure it's not an iPod ? :)

I thought it was a reasonable price with the case. If I couldn't get a few bob back from that I might not have gone for it.

I'd heard about some 2GB iPad apps too, which made me wonder if 16GB would be enough in the long run, so 32GB is perfect.

He doesn't have any left at the moment, but I'll keep an eye out :)

wow 2GB? Damn... maybe I should get 32GB, I have been waivering, however Cannot really afford a 32GB import, so if I import will have to be 16GB...hum..

Oh boy, I think the wait for mine to be delivered is worse than the wait I had for news on availability in the UK. My delivery status is still saying that it has left the country of origin but Parcelforce are saying that they have no record of it in this country and that it is probably still in the US because of our volcano friend :( I'm dying inside a little every time I check the tracking status.

I think that's a rare case to be honest. I've just checked a few apps and they're around 200MB.

Just spoke to UPS again and it is in the US still :( the person i spoke to said the lady must have got confused because the part about being in the UK is just paperwork to stop the package being held up in customs! The package is being flown to spain then driving up!

I was in the same situation, but its now updated. Says its in philly usa, and status is "NATURAL DISASTER / RELEASED BY CLEARING AGENCY. NOW IN-TRANSIT FOR DELIVERY"

All on the same update line. UPS say this is a "good sign", but my overall status is still "exception" not "in transit"

OOh, my ipad's been updated again.

ROISSY, PARIS, FR 04/20/2010 8:15 P.M. NATURAL DISASTER

I seriously doubt it's actually there, but perhaps that shows that they're going to ship it through france....here's hoping

I guess they are going to take the mail through the channel tunnel. Seems good.

My iPad is arriving tomorrow - finally!

Supposed to be the middle of last week, but Mr Volcano did his thing and caused mayhem. Now I'm desperate to get my hands on it! I can't believe how many others here are waiting for theirs too in similar circumstances...

I hope they all come through soon!

I rang them on the telephone :) think its some kind of new technology but seams pretty good so far!

UPS have put a notice on their website saying they no longer guarantee anything due to the Ash. Ive been told it should only be a 1 or 2 day delay!
Ah I've discovered my problem. I was misreading UPS as USPS. That's why I couldn't find a UK phone number.

Seems things are looking up for imports.

Latest news from Fedex at least states they are now routing mail to France and then trucking it all over Europe.

April 20, 2010 – update 2

Following the reopening of a number of European airports we are extremely pleased that we have been able to partially restart operations at Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) with a first flight leaving CDG yesterday (Monday April 19) for Memphis and seven flights leaving the U.S. for arrival in CDG today. Additional freight from the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions is also being flown into our European hub. Assuming conditions remain the same, today we will have eleven flights that will leave CDG; six bound for the US, three bound for India and the Middle East and two bound for Asia. For shipments within Europe we continue to utilize our European trucking network as well as our intra-European flight network where airports have opened. Our pick-up and delivery operations also continue to run as normal.

We are positioning our air operations to be able to resume our full flight schedule as soon as possible. Until this time inbound and outbound shipments from and to the affected areas may still experience service delays. We are committed to providing you with the highest possible service levels. Due to the fluid nature of the movement of the volcanic ash, the Company is still monitoring this situation very carefully and will continue to take advantage of any opportunity to fly into additional airports as they open. However, the Company cautions that it will take time to clear backlogs of cargo and customers should expect delays in shipments.

Given the complexity and changing nature of the current situation, we are not able to provide generalized estimates of current transit times. However, for information on the status of your particular packages please visit fedex.com.

If you are shipping perishable, temperature control or dry ice shipments to intercontinental destinations we recommend to hold these until we are able to resume our normal flight schedule.

Please note that in accordance with provisions of the FedEx Service Guide, the Money Back Guarantee does not apply to delays of this nature that are beyond the control of FedEx Express.

I think the rest of the mail companys are following suit and using France as a Hub and going by land from there.

This possibly is old news, but in prepartion for Bundlebox reopening sales tomorrow trying to get as much information on possible delays.. Anyone had any indication on how long it might take to clear the current back log before new mail begins to experience no delays?

My wife bought the 32GB model at www.intlo.com, today.
They have all wifi models in stock. The delivery is within 48 hours.

Prepaid customs available.

She payed 708 euros (625 pounds), shipping costs and customs included.

This site looks like it may be a good option. Did your wife recieve her iPad without any problems?

Waiting...

So, for those of us who are going to wait for the EU release - what are you going to do with the spare month without a new iDevice?

I'm thinking about plugging my USB keyboard into Garage Band, downloading some lessons and learning how to play. But that seems a bit self serving. I can't fly to Africa and teach (Volcano issues.) Maybe start a soup kitchen or teach some inner city kids to play Cricket?

So how are people going to deal with the emotional void, ennui and existential pain?

If you only got charged £30.30 then by my calculations the package must have only been marked as being worth £173 . Are you sure it's not an iPod ? :)

I suspect it's been valued at £100 or thereabouts. That'd be about 17.50 for the VAT charge and £14.50 that i think Parcel Force charge for paying the VAT on your behalf.

Although depending on what it's been described as, I might have been charged some Duty too in that £30.30.

Have to wait til tomorrow to see!

iPad coming to 9 countries by the end of May. Any takers of which they may be?
