This site looks like it may be a good option. Did your wife recieve her iPad without any problems?

Yes, she received the iPad yesterday (19/04). In the end it took 2 days + 1 day with the customs.
We have been very lucky since we could scape from the ash cloud just in time.:)

We have chosen to pre-pay customs (€ 35.99). No surprise at arrival.

Since I remained with a doubt on the International Warranty, I asked for further clarification and the guy answered me this:

"The EVIDENCE is in your invoice. It says ONE YEAR INTERNATIONAL WARRANTY.

If your iPad breaks we will replace it. This is an international warranty. We cover it for one year.

Every Apple product we sell is ONLY covered by “International Orders”, not by Apple.

Kindest Regards, "

The above is written nowhere in their website.

Good news

All UK airports have reopened after test flights proved planes can withstand volcanic ash.

Flying restrictions over Britain were eased following a reassessment of the risks from the ash cloud.

Manufacturers have now raised the tolerance levels that aircraft have in low ash density areas.

Considering doing a day trip to New York once the 3G is launched (picking up 3 units for myself and friends) but the cheapest flight I can find for the next couple of weeks is around £700. Looks like the airlines have hiked up their prices as the demand is bound to be higher due to the recent problems!

Considering they limit to 2 per customer and stocks will be incredibly limited for the 3G I doubt it will be worth it at all.

Mine now states

ROISSY, PARIS, FR
04/20/2010 11:36 P.M. NATURAL DISASTER / RELEASED BY CLEARING AGENCY. NOW IN-TRANSIT FOR DELIVERY

04/20/2010 11:09 P.M. ARRIVAL SCAN

04/20/2010 8:15 P.M. NATURAL DISASTER

So I'm hoping the same thing. Be interested to see if yours gets updated to the same "Natural Disaster / Release by clearing" status.

Now that my delayed flight from last Saturday to this coming Saturday (fingers crossed) leaves me with a dilemma. As I will be in the States for the 3g version, should I go for that over the WiFi version? Will appropriate sims be available here?

Guys, my iPad is being shipped from the US to the UK tomorrow and delivery to me on Monday via Fedex, Does anyone know if there will be delays or have experienced delays with fedex deliveries to the UK due to the Volcano ash crisis?

Thanks

Okay so over at Avforums, these guys seem to be shipping to the UK, no VAT - all in the price of £499 http://dvdworldusa.com/

"UK Customers only: You will not be charged any VAT - we guarantee it."

Same price Bundlebox are charging (including VAT) from 10am tomorrow, who do you trust more?

//Edit

Upon looking this is an acutal store who has stock now? Sounded like it was just a forum user from the post.

This is tempting...... anyone ever used then?

//Edit 2

VAT is not included from that store, you would need to add about £60-£80 to that depending on your shipping price.

Why do you say VAT is not included? It says 'VAT paid' under the picture, I will could be tempted if it works out at £500 overall..

Had not clicked the button for more information, just added to cart. I just assumed that they had no VAT protection in place since from USA. However reading around sometimes you do get charged VAT but apparently they offer to pay you a refund if you do.

I am incredibly tempted...you can even save 5% using bank transfer apparently? ... quite amazing if so..

Well I have made an order for the bank transfer option just to make sure there is one put aside for me at no risk, going to ring thenm tomorrow to see if really get 5% off , if I do I will be getting via that site I think. Bundle Box wont be shipped out till Early May at least this will be shipped tomorrow! and it looks like it is a reputable company.

//Edit Reading the forums they say even though it says 24 hour delivery they most of the time do not have stock on hand. I am going to ring them tomorrow and make sure they have stock before I pay.

for DVDWorldUSA see this thread http://www.avforums.com/forums/apple-ipad-forum/1236629-dvdworld-orders.html

I sent an email to them today and they say..

Dear Imran,

We are currently taking orders for the Apple iPad 16GB, 32GB and 64GB WiFi models. At this time, demand is very high and we are allocating stock on a first-come-first-served basis. We recommend that customers who want this product to place an order to ensure their place in the queue, but we will not charge the order until we have stock allocated to it. If you wish to pay using the cash option, we don\'t recommend that you pay in at this time (you can call in for the amount, so that you are prepared), we will contact you when it is your turn so that you can make your payment.

You can cancel your order at any time prior to it being processed, but if you re-order at a later date, you will have lost your place in the queue.

Delivery times are estimated at 3 business days from despatch (barring any delays caused by the volcanic ash problem).

There is no VAT etc. to pay and as far as I am aware, AppleCare is worldwide.
Regards,

Damon Jones

Apologies if I'm not allowed to post, I am NOT affiliated with them, just thinking if I should go ahead

Hmmmmm... considerring Bundleboxs offer will probably last about an hour before over capacity again.. this is a risk...Have to choose one or the other.

This one likley will come through faster and a bit cheaper... but could also take longer or not happen at all...

erg..

//Edit

Seems to take 1-2 weeks before dvdworldusa dispatch the order, I will keep my order open (unpaid) for possible buying of a 2nd Ipad, but most likley will cancel it eventually. Going with Bundlebox tomorrow or Ebay tonight.

well I have put in an order with dvd world usa (you wanna buy dvd??) and if they get some in soon enough I will pay them, if it takes too long I'll politely cancel my order... simples;)

When buying from Ebay what has the average customs charges end up being for 16GB?

I gave in, Did not see point in waiting for Bundlebox order in May when the Ebay auctions were falling low.

Just won an Ipad 16GB for £398

Woot.. within 10 mins of ordering he has already given me a tracking number =D, even negotiated himt o change priotary to express and cost just $38 for shipping.

Only annoying thing is Paypal sucks, there used to be two pages before it took the money and on second page it showed you the amount in £ that you were going to be charged and you could choose to pay it from your card in $, but it didnt do that this time the first page went ahead and paid for it and i couldnt change it, however the total showed in $.. and yet they charged me in pounds and charged me £10 more!
Xe.com calculates it at £10 less then what i got charged. Emailed Paypal demanding a refund for that amount wonder if I can get one... as it really is not on.. My bank never charges if i pay in $ and i would have had i been given the option.

Anyway total so far is £434 including shipping , we will see how it turns out when it arrives in the UK. Which apparently is Monday, it is 5 day shipping but using their guarnteed delivery date checker it says it will arrive Monday, so I guess they include weekends in their delivery calculations.. which is awesome =D

from what I've read about DVDworldUSA they have shipped some iPads in 24 hours,

I also ordered from DVDworldUSA after talking to him on the phone.. he was in the US trying to buy stock!..

Anyway the reason I canceled in the end was that shipping was not included in the order and would be added later!! Without knowing how much I'd end up paying for the shipping I decided to cancel.

Interesting, I paid about the same from a very nice eBayer. They marked the package as a gift with a value of $400. Typing this on iPad now, but still waiting on letter from HMRC with charge  I'll let you know if and when I find out.

I'm still standing strong and not breaking towards foreign imports. I was quite happy they put the dat back gives me a chance to save more so get a better iPad and all the Accessories that i want. 2 Weeks 5 Days to go till Pre order!! Anyone have any idea what time this will start happening?
