Well mine had exactly the same message yours does now on the 21st then in less then 24 hours it updated to package being sorted.

I am sorry but he is lieing to you, they do not leave it on that for 8 days. He has not even gave them it, ring USPS they will tell you that.

Cheers, I'll give them a call tonight. I could do without this additional pain...

The good thing is, if indeed they do not have it, if you paid with Paypal they will refund you within a day or two if you file a complaint since the tracking says he has not gave them it.

Seems a bit of an odd way to pull a scam so not sure exactly what he is doing if he has not.

I'm surprised how many people are importing, i really am. My brother has because he is due back from NYC tomorrow morning so it makes sense but i don't think there's going to be many of us left by launch. I must admit though, i am dying to get my hands on one now. Its been a while since it was announced and seems ages ago when the US got theirs even though its been like a few weeks.

Do we think the prices will be released before pre-order on the 10/05?

Also, how does Pre-Order work? Do they charge you there and then or do they charge you when you actually get the iPad?

I was just casually browsing eBay to see iPad's located near to me.

I found one, so I inquired into a Cash on Collection price...

£640 he wants..Seriously for a 16GB!

Have you spoken to the seller yet to confirm? Forget emails - go straight for the telephone and document it all in the PayPal dispute.

You can also open a PayPal dispute without escalating it to a PayPal claim. This doesn't actually do anything, it doesn't stop the seller getting their money or anything like that (assuming they are legit and compliant!) - but it is a handy way to document the disagreement thus far.

wow, grats, seems like you have been waiting forever!!!!

OK. Flying out to UK tonight with hand luggage only containing:

Camera, some clothes, work laptop, my macbook, My Ipad and 3 16gb ipads unboxed but in their nice plastic wraps...

wondering how thats going to look on the x-ray. I don't think I have to have the ipads out and may just leave them in the bag...

Hopefully I won't get too messed up by customs. As they are gifts and I live in the US I would hope to avoid huge tax issues.

If people are that desperate!!!

Hmm so whats a reasonable price for someone to carry one to the UK?

It's interesting as I'm briging in 16gb models as gifts for my nephew and niece. I would sell my ipad and buy another when I get back to NYC (probably go 3g). I'm thinking a 32gb should pull around 550?

I'm not interested in ripping someone off but I would expect to profit sufficiently to get a 3g model out of it. Is taht unreasonable?

i had to send my paypal receipt as it had been inspected  that was on £513.00 so in total its cost me around £610 for a 32gb but hay thats life ;)

I don't get the fuss at customs, it is listed on the apple store as $599 so the value is pretty obvious and why should you pay more tax than what would be owed on this, or is around £100 about right?

Yeah I totally agree. It is ridiculous paying vat on the total price paid for eBay items. The vat should be on the commercial value of the item. All it means is the government is also cashing in extra money off overpricing ipads for personal gain. If the seller marks the value as what you paid though there is nothing you can really do.

....previously I've always had a tracking update showing the package "IN FOREIGN CUSTOMS" or "AWAITING CUSTOMS CHARGES" or something like that. Not so this time. I wonder if I should be worried?

Yeah i'm thinking the same "Should I be worried?". I'm hoping it is in customs but i'm also hoping that it's not going to be in customs for nearly a fortnight like hundleton1's was!

You don't need to unbox your ipads!

US customs will xray you but they don't care if you take them out the country as you paid their taxes when you purchased them!

UK customs won't check your bag unless you tell them you have some ipads your sneaking in lol all you have to do is walk straight out when you collect your bags!

And either way if you have 3 ipads in your bag plus a 4th on you then it won't matter if they are in the box or not as no customs officer is going to be that stupid to assume they are all for you! Just leave them in the boxes and don't declare them and you will be fine!

Well, I already had plenty of iPad apps paid for and downloaded to my Macbook Pro... and now I even have a very cool Belkin sleeve that I'm pleased with.

But no iPad! :(

USPS say the package has left the United States but can't tell me how. ParcelForce say the package has not arrived in the United Kingdom but can't tell me anything about it.

Does this mean it's stuck in a customs queue and has been for two days? :(

Same with mine. And it's been that way since the 16th

I'm starting to get quite hacked off.

Mine shipped on Monday 19th April via USPS Express International. Posted around 2pm their (US) time. I followed it's progress across America, through Jamaica (NY) and then to the outbound depot and then .... into limbo .....

It's due to arrive tomorrow but according to a lady at ParcelForce it usually takes two days from the time the customs fees (if any) have been paid before it gets delivered.

Shame as I'm going on holiday tomorrow and I was rather hoping to take the iPad with me.

edit: The 16th was the earlier Friday. I'm presuming we're all on the same plane or MacRy & cyberheater's iPads are in a rollcage ahead of mine. I'll keep an eye out for your updates and hopefully mine will be not far behind :) I'm still clinging to the remote possibility that it will clear customs this evening and get to the local depot for tomorrow morning whereupon I can swoop down to it and pick up the iPad and pay any charges in the morning.
