Days To Go

I predict this time next week this thread is going to be full of: "My iPad hasn't shipped yet!", and that is without our friend Señor Ocho Ballo! But I reckon everything will be fine for 95% of early-ish pre-orders, there's no reason why it wouldn't be.

It's going to be a stressful time for all preorderers. Unless of course they ship early.

Methinks a call to the bank either today or tomorrow as a heads up. Warn them the forthcoming transaction anytime soon is not fraudulent.

Good shout, just done this myself. Told them that I was expecting the balance to be taken out of my account between now and next week from Apple, and apparently they've put a note on the account. Excellent stuff.

Just done the same. Better safe than sorry.

give me your bank details and I will check for you :p

I thought about that but didn't want to put you to any trouble ;)

Okay, so I copied you all and just called my bank's national customer service centre too.. the guy was really helpful and cool:

Me: "I preordered an item last week and the preauthorised amount has returned to my account, I was wondering if you could put a marker on my account for that amount as it will be taken out next week?"

Cust Service: "Oh, no problem, which company is it?"

Me: "Apple"

CS: "Oh cool! I love Apple! What are you getting?"

Me: "An iPad...."

CS "Oh you're lucky! I want one of those!"

etc etc, lol! What a cool guy to talk to, makes a nice change to talk to a human! :D

Hmmm, so he wants an iPad but presumably can't afford one. Let's hope he's not the jealous type and puts a marker on your account to say that it is a fraudulent transaction

I keep reading this, and it keeps confusing me as I go and check the app store on actual iTunes only to be disappointed. I should really have learned after my first attempt...

It works ok on the iPad now. Just done updates on 6 apps using the iPad. Sorry if the news is a few hours old. I came across it as I was catching up on Twitter.

I rang Lloyds TSB up and explained that i expected a large sum of money for a product to leave my account next week and the lady said she didn't envisage any problems whatsoever with the money leaving the account.

Just a heads up for some of you. I called my bank (Nationwide) before I made my pre-order, to warn them of the transaction, they told me everything will be fine if the funds are there.
Well I made my order on the 10th, everything fine, until today..........

Apple made the usual £1 pre-auth transaction for my order (x2 as I made a separate order on the 11th may), this got my card blocked as 'unusual activity' (the transaction shows as 'click to order') It wont show on your online/paper bill. So I have had to go through the process of calling my bank, they told me I can either have a new card (and I'd lose my iPad order) or call Apple and confirm it was them (which I did), then call them back to tell them it was Apple, then my card gets unblocked.

Just a warning, not the kind of hassle we need after waiting this long.
This all happened at the same time as my iMac going for a **** (working now).

Neil.

British Banks are so backward compared to Spanish banks. Cannot believe you have to let your bank know that you are going to have money leaving and potentially they will still block it.

Whenever, i use my Credit Card/debit card, my Spanish bank sends a text message of the amount being debited. If it is not me that has done it, they include a telephone number to ring and reference number.

Had a problem once when somebody made a clone of my card, within 30 seconds of the transaction being made I talked to my bank, had the debit stopped and a new card on the way. No hassles. They even caught the person trying to use the card a second time in a shop down the road 10 minutes later. the only thing was they never found out how or where the card had been copied.

Also when you make a bank transfer or set up a direct debit, they send a code to your phone that you have to enter to complete the transaction.

I'm new, be nice!

I've been reading this thread for weeks and after being sucked in to the paranoia, I thought I'd share with you my conversation with Apple in regards to delivery on launch day. Here it is....
