Good Lord everyone, wait two weeks and you can buy them legit. It's clear you all have some way of surfing the net at present or you wouldn't be posting here. What difference can another two weeks make. Absolutely unbelievable

Agreed some people are trying to be the "first" to get it but really when it comes to the UK launch and everyone in the UK is pumped about it you will be like ....oh that i remember i felt like that 2-3 weeks ago .

Exactly what I've been trying to say! People are talking as really it's their only choice "oh well, it might be dodgy but I'm going to risk it." Risk everything just to get it earlier, I don't think so

Gotta agree. My cash is too important to me to risk any of it unless I have to, and by that I mean HAVE to. Much as it is making me gnash my teeth not to have my hands on an iPad along with the US and Bundlebox bods. My netbook is beginning to struggle and my macbook pro is tied up upstairs in the studio. I want my mobile browsing ipad !!

...I can now put my ePub books on there that I used to read on my Sony PRS505...
Quick question about this, Mitor. I am hoping to do this too, have a load of ePUB books from the Sony Reader Store. Did you have to strip the DRM from them first before you could access them on the iPad? I have read it is possible, but wondering if it is necessary.

Do you guys think the UK ipads will have these issues.
Any issues you are hearing about are software issues and will be addressed with a software update. Apple are not suddenly going to have to recall 300,000+ iPads!

And the UK iPads will be exactly the same production units as the US ones.

Let us be strong, people. Only 2 weeks to go. I'm too cautious to buy a high value item like that on eBay, no matter how tempting. Don't want to get stiffed for £400+, as I'm thinking about changing my MacBook for an MBA when the new ones come out and I'll need every penny.

Unless you use a VPN which is based in the US then you can use it anywhere.

This is true :) I must look into it - does anyone in the UK have it working? Or would you need to be a US resident to get a Netflix account in the first place?

Wow, more folks are giving into ebay by the day! I'm still resolute and determined to wait! :D

I cannot see the point of purchasing an iPad 2 weeks before the supposed launch for a premium. Does not make sense.

My name is McMack and I'm a UK iPad eBay buyer...

I did the dirty deed a few hours ago. So far there's no buyer's remorse at all. £540 for a 32GB iPad is a good deal IMO. If the UK price is less than £450-£500 I'll be stunned. I've ordered my case as well :)

Are we really so certain that the UK release is in two weeks?

The only things niggling at me are the usual eBay misgivings. Even if I just buy a paperclip from that place, I never quite believe in it until the item is in my hands. That sensation is tickling at me right now. What if I turn the thing on and there are dead pixels, or even nothing at all?

That's the biggest risk IMO, and the only issue connected with getting a US iPad that I'm really worried about. (All the other issues, iTunes, power supply, etc., have workarounds that I'm happy to deal with.) An electronic device that's going to go wrong will usually go wrong in the first hours of operation. If I can just get past that stage I'll be happy.

And in the meantime I'll be hoping with everyone else that we get some news soon about UK pricing & the release date. I want a 16GB 3GS - I always planned to get two of these things. The 24th April would be brilliant, the 30th less so but still great. I just hope the date doesn't slip to May or even later.

A bit random I know, but where did you order the case from?

ABC app

Can anyone with an iPad (i hate you :() confirm whether apps like ABC player work in the UK when they download it from the US iTunes store?

eBay, for a tenner... search for 'iPad case' and there are loads (UK-based). I went for a fairly cheap - and probably nasty - one to tide me over until I can get an Apple case.

Re. tomorrow's iPhone 4.0 event, I can't see an iPad UK/Europe announcement being bolted onto that, but you never know.

Mine arrived today via Bundlebox and all I can say is wow, absolutley stunning. It was worth all the effort getting the order with Apple and then getting shipped across by Bundlebox.

After using the iPad for while (and the battery still says 90%) and loading various bits and pieces form iTunes (US account) it becoming quite apparent that content is going to be the big thing for this device and I wonder if the delay in Apple announcing this outside of the US is to do with setting up arrangements with content providers. Content is going to be so important and I reckon this is partly behind the delay in the announcement.

Just a thought.

Have to agree, though I did read a good suggestion earlier in this thread about him starting of buy saying how successful the US launch was then go on to give a few details about the EU, but it's doubtful!

If you don't mind me asking what was the final price you ended up paying (including delivery, taxes etc)?

That's if they've found companies to provide the 3G.

They do not need companies to provide the 3G in order to sell the 3G model. They are sim free and will work with any provider. I assume the onus will be on the purchaser to get a carrier and not for apple to supply you one.

There are plenty of reasonable deals within the UK and plenty of pay as you go broadband sims, so I doubt Apple will be providing any special operator deals outside of the States.

Also why are we all so adamant that Apple will meet the release date of 'late' April ? Surely if they were confident of that themselves they would have been no trouble announcing price & a fixed date at this stage of the game with 3 weeks max to go to meet that deadline. I doubt currency exchange rates at this stage can be safely approximated as I doubt there will be any further disastrous changes - so the 'silence' from Apple is almost screaming that April will pass and the iPad will not be here, as much as it pains me to think so. I do not remember a time in the last 10 years that the silence of a release date and price was so 'close' to the expected date, and therefore just can't believe it will happen.

I think if you stick any old MicroSIM in it though, you get 3G connectivity and that's it. I don't think that provides the same handy system that AT&T are able to provide in the US where you can activate and cancel right on your iPad. With any old pay as you go MicroSIM, you would have to pay with credit card or buy top-up vouchers in the shops.
