I queued in the Arndale for my Rev A iPhone. You queue outside the shop in the aisles they set up. It's no biggie.

The queue for the iPad won't be as big though.

As for prices I initially guessed at the 400-650 range (as someone did above). Purely based on iPod Touch prices. The exchange rate has changed since then so I'd maybe add 50 to each price point.

That's where i'll be going for mine too. No biggie, 150 yards from my office. :D

Across from my office in the University for me.

My release day prediction would be the 7th of May. However Apple won't be able to grab headlines then (election) so I'd say the week after on the 14th.

well my mate is off to NYC next week so if we dont hear anything by tomorrow i'll ask him to get me one.

hope he doesnt get stung by customs as he wants one for himself too

also hope that he can find some in NYC.

Nah - they'll release in April. There's no way they'd still be stating "Late April" on the website if they weren't going to make it.

If there is a new government, they still won't grab the headlines then.

I bit the bullet and just made an offer on an ebay iPad.

My final decision is based on this

http://www.apple.com/ie/ipad/ as opposed to
http://www.apple.com/uk/ipad/

See the difference ?

Ireland doesn't get the 'Late April' mention at all. We don't have Apple stores other than a few small resellers here either. I was hoping they would throw the UK & Ireland together, however they did not do this with the iPhone either.

So decision made, assuming they accept my offer price ;)

Okay. In a strange way that makes me hopeful that they will release the ipad in the UK in April. I just assumed that the UK automatically included Ireland. Guess not as far as Apple are concerned.

I'd say if you can afford it and manage to get a trusted seller then you should be okay. Good luck with your ebay bid.

Jesus, you think if they can organise a release in the 6 county basket case of Northern Ireland they can manage a release in the Republic. Guess not. +1 fail to Apple.

Looks like I'm still in the running though, one of the few perks of living in the UK I suppose.

As for my original post on page 42 of this thread, I am not really bothered when it is released here as I received my wifes 32GB wifi on Tuesday, fresh off a plane from New York.

I may get a 64GB wifi +3G the same way at the end of the month if available over there, dependant on UK prices.

Just thought I would pass on the info. :):)

OK just to throw mud in the water and make more confusion. So I've made my offer (waiting to hear from Seller and if accepted will go ahead regardless), however out of curiosity I rang the Apple online stores Irish free phone number from the website. There was a specific iPad section from the automated options. So I spoke to an Apple Rep (with an American Accent) and he said that Ireland would be included in the UK | Worldwide launch and he still said mid-late April but had no other information about specifics, price or actual date.... So I'm dubious and more confused than ever.

Why are they being so aloof ?

Looks like a plan :)

What do you reckon to the Arndale queue then? I live round the corner and was hoping not to have to be out of bed at an ungodly hour to queue. Just got to hope for pre ordering as I don't like the idea of being in the Arndale any longer than I have to.

Very similar experience to mine (aside from asking about the Irish release). I really got the impression that they were completely in the dark.

I also heard back from my friend that works in the Apple store in Brighton. While she's not on the shop floor, she's management and she says (or at least she claims) that they have no information yet.

This is the same Brighton store that apparently had the meeting at 1pm the other day when they got release dates according to another poster. <shrugs>

It's what apple does best :) Shame it's damned annoying lol!

I love it personally. Keeps the hype up :)

True I guess, but annoucing pre-orders are now open & pricing would hype people up further ;)

Yeah I got the feeling strangely that they didn't really have too much info however there felt like there was somthing strange going on... I'll explain.

It's the fact that they couldn't be more specific - when I said I was going to buy one from eBay if it looked like it wasn't going to be available here, he was pretty adamant that I should hold off & not do so.

It was almost like he was either A) told to make sure people were advised that they shouldn't purchase elsewhere when ringing for info... or B) withholding information because he was unable to tell (but maybe wanted to)...

It's impossible to read someones body language over the phone obviously.

I'm so in need of a tech-fix, i need to know!

Yesterday, went to Apple Store Glasgow to stroke 24" ACDs (bought an iPhone case :D). Today I'm all over the Apple Store online, wondering if I need a 27" iMac.....aaaaaaaargh.
