Could be, looks like its going to be macbook updates. Which I guess is also good but i still want to know the price of an Ipad over here.

But surely i have to convert them, or else how does the iPad read the DVD's from the box set??

it can do on the fly conversions so you can convert them at a much higher resolution for tv and it will scale for the ipad over the network.

check it out literally 2 secs latency on the conversions

lots of people were complaining about having to reconvert and I heard about the app. check it out - free trial

Thanks for the tip (I actually have it :) ). I agree it is superb, but will use my ipad outside wifi range a lot so its not idea for that.

A few weeks ago, the store was down for over two hours and when it returned there were no discernable differences!

Yeah, I remember the "waiting for Arrandale" guys virtually foaming at the mouth when it came back up with nothing...

Perhaps a monkey with a little 'apple-cap' on is hammering away trying his/hers best to do it as fast as possible....think of the poor monkey.

LOL i can imagine at the end his payment is a single apple handed to him... and he just slaps it out the persons hand and goes mental

As someone who as worked in eCommerce I can say it's not as simple as you lot make it out to be to make major changes to a website.

Firstly you need to bring the site down and host the "Sorry" page.
Then you deploy the new code and make it live internally.
Then you need to run tests and have users check the site is correct and has no mistakes.
If everything is okay then you can make it live, if not then you have to redeploy new code with the new changes and run the tests again. Also you may have to revert the site. Only when everyone has signed off the changes can you make the site live for the general public.

Our major changes happened overnight and could last for hours. I would imagine as the USA is in the early hours of the morning then that is exactly what is happening.

Really in serious danger of being extremely late for rehearsal now.

Ah, feck 'em - perhaps if I'm not there the rest of them will have to actually do some work.

Did I say that out loud ? The anticipation must be getting to me. :D

Not even an amateur home-coder would take a significant portion of his website down for hours just to add a few new products, live, in real time. He would make the pages up, get it all ready, then log in, upload the new pages, take down the old ones, done.

The only reason the store goes down is to wind us up and get some chatter going on the internet.

Stop your excuses, I want my iPad NOW!!! :p

Rumours about the Macbook Pro refresh have gathered steam lately though with retailers being spotted taking the existing models off the market, and today has been rumoured to be "the day" for a while. Unless Apple are aware of those rumours and being REALLY cruel, I think the store going down today is abit too much of a coincidence.

Having said that, other than blind hope that still has no relevance to iPad info!

Sorry but I also have experience of this and it simply doesn't take this long. They do it for the chatter, they always have!

Out of interest, how do places like Amazon or Play cope?
