If this mini was out when I was buying my phone, I would have bought a smaller phone. I’m using the mini a lot more than my phone the past few days.
This has been my usage for many years now.....a Mini with an SE. The Mini goes everywhere with me, and handles 98% of my usage. I use my SE only for actual phone calls and CarPlay.
Same for me. I have already logged 12GB of use (on the new mini) since 3/28.
Over the past couple of years I’ve bought several newer, bigger iPhones (7, X, XS, XS Max) but have ended up selling or returning all of them because, while I love the larger screens, I keep going back to the SE for its perfect, compact form factor.
I picked up a Mini 5 (256 Space Gray w/ LTE) on Wednesday and the pairing is just ideal.
Another plus point for those who haven't had a mini and are considering one:
If you are Directv Now subscriber, YouTube TV etc., the new mini allows you to view tv while surfing the web at the same time, which isn't the case on the XS Max.

Currently debating cancelling my contract order for a 256GB for a 64GB contract where it’ll be slightly more expensive per month, but a lot lot cheaper overall

Went in to my local Apple store yesterday on the chance that they had my preferred model in stock (wifi only, 256 gb, any color). Walked out with a gold iPad mini5 after getting a $135 credit for trading in my mini 4, which was in good condition.
For now, I put the new mini 5 into a Speck folio case for the mini 4 case that I got on sale a while ago & had been using: https://www.amazon.com/iPad-mini-4-...e+ipad+mini+4&qid=1554065611&s=gateway&sr=8-6. It fits fine overall although the +volume button is very slightly covered. The button still works and the overall sound/volume is also fine, despite not having a back cover area that is designed to fit the speakers. I can wait to see what comes out in the way of new cases.

If this mini was out when I bought the 11-inch iPad Pro, I would have bought the 12.9 inch instead.
Would not ever recommend any device to run down battery to below 20% as it degrades the battery health over time. Especially phones. iPads even.
This thing is like a rocket. How did I abide the iPad 3 for so long?
Ordered a new case today. It was advertised as Mini 4 but all the holes looked to be for Mini 5. We’ll see.
Was tempted by what I think was the Pink Sand cover today but there weren’t any for the Mini on display so I left it. Do we expect any further colours to be released or not?

I think Apple will release a case (soon) and maybe some new cover colors down the line.
I showed it to an Android guy and he was impressed. He's been disappointed with the dearth of Android small tablet offerings.

Well, I broke down and ordered one this afternoon. I couldn't resist. 64GB WiFi model in silver. It'll be here Friday. Can't wait.
I got an Android phone about a year and a half ago, as I wanted a better camera and something slightly bigger than my 5s, but the iPhones at the moment are just too big for me. Having had the luxury of an SD card and easier personalisation I don’t think I’d go back, but I wouldn’t have anything other than an iPad tablet wise.
