Canceled my order for the new Air in favor of getting the new Mini. I bought the first Mini and loved it for games. It's just the perfect size for gaming, and with Apple Arcade coming, I think this will be the best form factor for gaming. I just need to find a case that can fit it properly. On amazon all I see are old cases claiming to work.

I got a Fintie case for the iPad mini 5. Galaxy. I don’t have my 5 yet but I do know my 4 doesn’t fit properly. The camera cut out is off centre as are the volume buttons. Plus this case has a mic hole in the right place for a 5. Based on pictures i’ve seen of a 5 in a 4 case it seems this case will fit perfectly.

Unfortunately I have no spare cash at the moment. I went into the Apple Store on a whim, just to see if they had the Mini 5 in stock and how it was with the pencil...Oh, it's SO charming! I would buy one like a shot if I had the money right now!

When I looked at the new pros last year, I didn't feel a thing and wasn't that upset at not being able to get one, but this Mini...

I had the Mini 2 from release day until I sold it to get the Pro 9.7 and then the 10.5 (which I still have). I've always thought nostalgically about my old Mini so I'm a bit biased, but before the last Pro release I was SO excited about the 12.9 and really shocked that I felt nothing about it when I saw it.

If the Apple fairy ever came to me, I would ask for the new Mini and the next generation 12.9, whenever that may be. I'd hang onto to my 10.5 because I love it as much as I loved my first Mini (which was my first iPad).

People that are wavering should really try one out in person - I think it's a very personal love or indifference thing. I just picked it up and used it for less than a minute, but it was long enough for me to know I'd get one like a shot if I could.

Congratulations to all of you who got the new Mini, I hope you really enjoy them!

Played with the Mini 5 some more this morning before leaving for work.

Only 'issue' to me i guess is the black levels of the screen. When putting an all black screen on (The wallpaper in the stock wallpapers) doesn't exactly look black but a much more lighter grey. My XR in comparison has a much better black level.

Not a huge deal I suppose

I received my mini 5 today but disappointed with the screen unevenness. Very reddish on the whole top right.

What image did you use to test this? Would like to myself on mine. Thanks!

All my iPads looked like that, the newest Pros are not due to the newer Liquid Retina tech. It's not ideal on my iPad Mini, but that's the current LCD/LED tech.

Kallum.

That was just a plain black wallpaper.

My iPad mini has a small nick on the bottom of the unit by the camera - something I noticed when I got it back from the store. Would Apple replace this?

To me, the Mini 5 is a no-no because of its dated design - it might as well be 2012 again.

I lost my resistance and ordered and picked up the Mini 5 256 with cellular. Just finished setting it up and am impressed. This Mini will allow my 11” to stay safely at home while the Mini will do the field work. Just removed the SIM card from the 11 and put it in the Mini and all is good.

I have no resistance to new Apple products.

Anyone putting a screen protector on their new mini? I usually don’t bother but have recently fitted a PaperLike screen protector to my Pro’s.

I put a glass screen protector on my Mini, I always put one on my iPads. In addition I will be putting a silicone gel case on the back to protect the rear side. I do have a cheap case I will use when I leave the house but from home this setup works best for me. I try to keep my iPads as light as possible for daily use.

That’s a tough question for me. I don’t really want it for protection but I like the way those paperlike films feel for drawing. Downside is they reduce clarity. For my big pro, drawing is much higher priority over consumption so the choice is easy. But the Mini for me has mainly been a consumption device, so it depends how much drawing I think I’m going to do on it now that it has pencil support. Hmmmmmm

You’ve just described my exact dilemma. I will be getting the pencil but not sure how much I’ll use it.
