By all the Mini’s do you mean you went to a store and used multiple Mini 6’s; or all the Mini’s including other gens?Unfortunatley it's quite visible on all of the Mini's I have used. Especially with a white background.

I still don't notice it 😭😂 I can't tell if it's just a sensitivity some people have or whether there is a variation in how severe different iPads are affected by this
If they optimized landscape purposely, that’s a mistake on the mini. Many people grip it with one hand and use it for reading in portrait mode.
The Pros do not have this issue due to them being 120Hz. (Or more technically, they might, but the display refreshes so fast it’s not perceptible to the eyes, where it is at 60Hz.)Does anyone know if the problem has been solved on the Pro line. I remember reading about it there also. Don't know if it was the latest generation or also just the MiniLED 12.9. Have they solved this by now? Then it must be software related.
As said if I have it it doesn't bother me. ATM I can't really see anything distracting.
I mostly use landscape, so if they end up “fixing” this by reversing it I may be better off holding on to one that does it in portrait instead😂I agree that would be a big mistake.
Given the aspect ratio change also, I think they definitely are now optimizing it for landscape and video content.
Very much a mixed bag depending on how one wants to use it.
Apple seems to recognize that pilots use it a lot and they use it in portrait mode usually

Ok thx. But I know there was an issue with jelly scrolling. Was it on iPhones? Or other iPads? I have read about this before. The Pros do not have this issue due to them being 120Hz. Hopefully someone with the problem will do an exchange and report that the new device doesn't have the problem. Then we'll know for sure.I can see it in the videos posted, but not on my device. So, not a sensitivity, I don't think.
For me personally, it’s not ok, the iPad should never have this kind of issue. And it’s really distracting to me, and in one case made me just slightly nauseous. BUT when I weigh all the pros/cons of the Mini, it’s also not enough to make me want to return it. I still really like it, and it serves all my use cases really well, despite this issue. It’s kind of amazing how people can talk themselves into something like this being “OK”
Apple charges top prices and in fact increased the prices this time around….
How anyone defends them cheaping out on components or implementation is beyond me
Whoa, you’re right. So maybe it IS software and not the display controllers after all.Just discovered something potentially interesting… when holding the new Mini in portrait, go to your home screen and slide in fron the left to bring up the widgets that are in the “today view“ (the coloumn of widgets that slides in from the left hand side). When I scroll through those widgets, the text does the same thing, slants in one direction when scrolling down and in another direction when scrolling up.
You can also open the Mail app in portrait. Open a mail message in full screen, then slide your finger into the screen from the left hand side to bring up the side bar /column showing your inbox (it will come up on the left hand side of the screen). When you scroll up and down on that column the text slants up and down in the same manner.
Same thing with the sidebar on the News app, in portrait if you bring up the side bar and scroll it up and down, the text slants.
The reason I mention this is that I thought this was to with one side of the screen refreshing at a different rate than the other, but in these two examples the defect is still happening when tested only on one side of the screen.
Multiple people have stated in this thread that they tried the display models at the Apple store and they all have the issue. I wouldn’t exchange for another one quite yet.Hopefully someone with the problem will do an exchange and report that the new device doesn't have the problem. Then we'll know for sure.

The Mini 6 I received yesterday and those Mini 6's I used at an Apple store today.By all the Mini’s do you mean you went to a store and used multiple Mini 6’s; or all the Mini’s including other gens?
Well, we also have people in this thread that say they can’t reproduce the issue although they agree it is present in the videos posted here. Assuming there really are minis that don’t have the issue, an exchange would be a conceivable way to find out. Also, if it is a component sourcing issue, it may not be surprising that the devices being delivered to the same store all have the issue, if they come from the same production charge.Multiple people have stated in this thread that they tried the display models at the Apple store and they all have the issue. I wouldn’t exchange for another one quite yet.
This type of display behaviour usually happens in one direction.I notice it in portrait, but not landscape. I went back to my 5 and it has it in landscape, but not portrait... Is there really a shift towards landscape being the intended default?
If you don’t see it, it’s either your unit doesn’t have this issue, or your unit has this issue but your usage pattern doesn’t make you see it.I still don't notice it 😭😂 I can't tell if it's just a sensitivity some people have or whether there is a variation in how severe different iPads are affected by this

In this case there’s no point to specifically seek out this behaviour since it doesn’t affect you.
If you have an iPhone handy, you could whack the screen brightness all the way up on your iPad, record a video of the screen in slow-mo from your iPhone whilst scrolling some content on the iPad screen. That would probably be the best way to show it.If those of us unaffected can find a way to create it, then that might help those who have the problem.
That’s what I!m wondering 🤔But there is a lot fo us without the issue at all. I'm fascinated by this and I have run every test someone in this threat mentioned, and I can't get it to jelly. I assume everyone updated to that patch that Apple released, after the iPads/iPhones had already shipped.
Unless they used more than one screen manufacturer, and just certain brands are affected (and a software patch still might still fix those).
Lol, from all the display issues one could have “jelly scroll” is the least concerning. Dead pixels, uneven screen brightness, backlight bleeding, etc etc.I’ve learned that with a little effort you can teach yourself to see it. Where I couldn’t see the jelly scroll issue when I first started reading this thread, I can see it consistently now. It doesn’t bother me though. I can ignore it pretty easily too.
I suspect that those who say that their iPad mini doesn’t have the issue are simply blind to it as I was. It might be a good idea for those people to not teach themselves to see it.
I have a refurb mini5 that works better than a mini6 that starts at $500. The screen should’ve been jelly free from the start.Lol, from all the display issues one could have “jelly scroll” is the least concerning. Dead pixels, uneven screen brightness, backlight bleeding, etc etc.
It’s unfortunate the screen on an expensive device is less than perfect but it could be much much worse.
With all these returns that means these will be on the refurb store soon for $399 😝
Not sure if this is hardware or software related. Still have that two week return window for those interested. I agree it’s a shame that this is even present.I have a refurb mini5 that works better than a mini6 that starts at $500. The screen should’ve been jelly free from the start.
