It’s happening with mine. 64GB non cellular space gray I picked up last night. Noticed it immediately when I started scrolling MacRumors in portrait mode. It’s more prevalent depending on your scrolling speed but it’s definitely there.

I can’t try this out since I’m at work now and the mini is at home, but dumb question for those who are experiencing it. Does it still happen if your iPad mini is plugged in and charging as well, or only while on battery?

Happens the same plugged in or on battery.

Another thing is that they might have seen it and crunched some numbers that it would cost too much to destroy all the units, therefore they'd let it ship and have the customer return the ones that are lemons. They probably planned it this way to save money.
Bad move considering the environmental situation of true.

I looked at that video and your former and couldn't see any lag like I did on mine. That's what I expected my Mini to be like, no lagging and weird tilting when scrolling. Huzzah! Now I'm feeling optimistic waiting on my next Mini to arrive. 💪
Definitely happy I got one of the good ones, but I hope you guys all get yours to work whether it's through a software fix or replacement. It's a great little device

I mean I can’t notice it on mine when moving the page that slowly, but it is jelly galore when moving it faster. Also recording the screen might not net the same results, mine only shows in recordings when using slow-mo for example.

Quite sure it is the same on all units and due to the hardware design, that is what has been the reason for other manufacturers jelly scrolling. So don’t get your hopes up too much.

I went into an Apple store today, and all units had the issue unfortunately.

If you want to see whether your iPad mini has this issue, you can use your iPhone camera, go to video recording 60 fps and record iPad mini scrolling through this thread.

My iPad mini has the left 30% of the display react slower than the right, resulting the line fading like that.

Here is how iPad Pro looks like, you can see the line's color is uniform during the refresh.

How many reviewers noticed the issue? Did Apple ship them units that were double checked? Makes you wonder.

Or more accurately… How many “reviewer’s” are really just busy gushing about Apple stuff and not doing actual “reviewing”.

YouTube reviews and social media have created this absolute circle of PR hype and pumping and drooling over new stuff that is of so little substance usually

If they don't gush, they won't get early access to free review products.

I posted a video scrolling faster earlier with no jelly and someone said to post one scrolling slowly; I will post a 60fps video now, and slowmo; as well as a slowmo of my iPad Pro

This is why exchanging it is probably useless. I wish a tech news site would bring the issue to the forfront. Nothing will be said or get done otherwise.
Agree. I did email Macrumors about the issue and linked to this thread, as well as 9to5Mac. If others do the same they may take notice and cover it, because as you say that’s usually the only way Apple sit up and take notice.

I also submitted feedback on this to Apple directly.

I’ve learned that with a little effort you can teach yourself to see it. Where I couldn’t see the jelly scroll issue when I first started reading this thread, I can see it consistently now. It doesn’t bother me though. I can ignore it pretty easily too.

I suspect that those who say that their iPad mini doesn’t have the issue are simply blind to it as I was. It might be a good idea for those people to not teach themselves to see it.
