Most people will never know and never notice.

I did notice on the new iPad mini 6 but thought it was part of a new iPadOS 15 scroll animation lol. I then double checked my iPad Pro 12.9 and there is ALSO a little bit of the same jelly effect. Much less obvious to be sure but it’s definitely there too.

I like the form factor of the mini 6 as a portable gaming device for which it performs stunningly so I am keeping mine.

To me it looks like the pixels that are further away from the signal take longer to react, based on how far away they are. The delay is constantly increasing from right to left. (Because the right side seems to „arrive“ at the target location first)

Maybe apple can delay the rendering on the faster pixels to compensate for this. decreasing the delay with every pixel line a little bit.

(If they care enough)

Enjoy. Compared to the very first video in this thread (where it is obvious), I don't see anythign close to that in mine.

If you don't see it, it could either mean your unit does not have the behaviour, or maybe it has the behaviour but your usage does not let you see it. If it's the latter, there's no need to go look specifically for it since it doesn't affect you in the first place.

I definitely have jelly scrolling on my 2020 11" iPad Pro. It's a bit less pronounced than on my Mini 6 but it is absolutely there. Turn the iPad Pro upside down so the camera's on the bottom and the lines slant in the other direction when scrolling in portrait orientation - just like on the Mini 6.

I never noticed it before on my iPad Pro and now that I have, I'm not at all upset. It was never an issue or distraction in the last 16 months, and I've used it for quite a lot of different things, including reading and drawing in portrait orientation.

I've spent the last 3 hours or so going through all the use-cases and apps I use on the Mini, or even on the iPP, to try to determine whether the visual distortion caused by the jelly scrolling issue might impact my enjoyment or use of the Mini 6. I honestly have not noticed even a tiny problem. Either my unit doesn't have it as bad as some of yours, or my vision is less sensitive, or the ways in which I use the device don't bring out the problem.

But I have complete empathy for those of you for whom this issue is more serious or annoying, and I wouldn't hesitate to return your Mini 6 if the problem doesn't somehow get resolved during your return window.

My girlfriend’s brother came over this afternoon - he’s a techy guy like me. i showed him the issue with my Mini. He could see it if he really looked but found it much harder to discern than me. For me, the issue is pronounced and makes the experience of scrolling very, very disorienting. So I do think there’s something going on with how different people perceive things visually here.

Personally I’m hoping there are some units that don’t have this issue, as I really want a unit that doesn’t do this.

I thought jelly was normal. I’ve seen some on all my iPads including my current iPad Pro 12.9. Very subtle on the pro but it’s there.

Some might confuse the normal lag of a 60hz screen vs jellying. Some of the videos do show jellying, where the text moves up and down unevenly when scrolling. But some of the videos here just look like normal lag to me, amplified by video auto focus being unsteady.

Typically for me if I pan up and down rather quickly in safari I will notice it on the change of direction. The left side of the screen opposite side to my panning finger lags the right with the change of direction.

I highly doubt there will be a fix, so I’m just hoping I get used to it. That, or I get used to reading/scrolling in landscape. Hard to type that way, though.

11” iPad Pro (2020) has it too.

I’ve been using it since launch without noticing, I also barely notice it on my mini. (I also use landscape mode 2/3 of the time) So I’m leaning toward keeping it.

Even if it is hardware, might there be a way Apple can ameliorate the issue somewhat with software? If it’s hardware, they have a real problem on their hands as this isn’t a cheap device.

If I’m using it in landscape 100% of the time, that would potentially mitigate any headache/nausea problems, right?
