Saw that Apple had tried to charge one of my accounts for the Mini 6, but I didn't have the full amount there anymore. Was thinking if I should order and try it out once again, but I don't see any point in it as it will most likely have the exact same problem as all Mini 6's I've tried out. And as I've been equally bothered by jelly scroll on them all I'll just skip this model, until they change the orientation.

Can't believe the disappointment I feel, it would have been the perfect device. Well, atleast I'll have my $930 burning in my pocket until I find something else interesting.
This is how I feel exactly. I’m feeling some serious first world sadness that I didn’t get the ipad of my dreams after years are having none.

And on top of that I refuse to downgrade to the mini 5 (unless I was literally given it for free) or get a bigger ipad. All I can hope for is that they come out with a new model faster than they updated the mini 5 to 6. A yearly refresh seems unlikely, but hopefully in 1 1/2 years we’ll have a mini 7.

Depending on how they handle the next ipad air—such as increasing the base storage—I’ll allow myself to hope for a better ipad mini. An ipad mini pro will probably never happen, so we just have to wait for the better features of the ipad pro to trickle down to the air and mini 😞😒.

I tried many options in the past week, including going back to Android for the Fold 3 (which has an amazing screen by the way). I finally decided on getting the base Mini 6 and mostly use it as an ebook reader and for travelling. Anyone who isn’t using Apple stuff for everything should get a Fold 3 over the Mini 6, hardware wise it is in another league.

Had they not made the screen as bad they did it could have become more of a “bring everywhere” device and I would have splurged for 256 GB and probably even 5G.

I had to really work to see this so called "jelly scrolling". Hadn't noticed it at all in my normal use. But as a long time tech worker I was already aware of the effect with 60Hz displays. Truth be told no display technology is flawless, including some very high end and expensive ones. I think these accusations about Apple conspiring to put one over on the users are absurd.

So what's the justification for LCD in 2021?

Do some research and you'll find there are lots of devices using LCD in 2021. Not sure where "justification" fits into the concept. Even if somehow we all as consumers mandated all devices must be OLED, Mini or Micro LED it couldn't be done. There is insufficient capacity worldwide to manufacture the required number of screens.

Avoiding burn-in on OLED tablets, which have their screens left on for longer periods of time than phones.

My MacBook Pro has massive amounts of LCD burn-in due to the time Apple takes between worthwhile releases.

Generally when reading a novel you are using an ereader app. Probably Kindle or Apple Books. Those are usually used by flipping pages right to left so there is no jelly scrolling in portrait.

True for me - Books, Kindle, Bluefire Reader, and Gutenberg Pro apps.

Using my mini 6, I noticed it seemed to me to be more awkward to find the power button or the volume buttons when it was in portrait mode than in landscape. Then it occurred to me, together with the jelly effect, and the speakers on the sides, it was as though it had been designed with landscape usage in mind. I usually use my mini in landscape, but of course not everyone does.

To continue this thought, most laptops are landscape in usage. If you want your Ipad MIni 6 to resemble a laptop it looks a lot closer to that in landscape then portrait. Do you also notice that your GUI looks a lot more like Mac as the App icons are no longer 6 down 4 across but 6 across 4 down. If you open Apple Music in portrait it doesn't display the same information array, but if you turn it to landscape you have sidebar present as in the Mac version of Apple Music.
I see a lot of larger iPads such as the 12.9 being used preferably in landscape when working with a business app.

Originally we used iPads to mimic books, reading magazines, web surfing, using portrait predominant, but as the diversity of app content grows, and apps becomes closer to laptop equivalents, we find are not using that portrait as much interestingly. So your observation about the Mac mini 6 been designed with laptop usage might be spot on. :)

I expected to be bothered by it but wasn't, fingers crossed for you.

While it may be present on every display, there are always good ones and bad ones out there making it more or less noticeable. We've seen yellow screens from some posters too, but they're not all like that.
I received my Mini, what a lovely device, I´ve already used it more often than my 12.9 Pro in 1 year! :D

I can see the Jelly Scroll and I don´t like it, but I can live with it, even if this is not perfect in my opinion. I thought it would be much more annoying and more recognizable.

Nevertheless I would prefer a 120 Hz display with higher brightness for this price, but even with this cons it is a big (or small?! :p) keeper for me.

You deserve something better with the money you paid
