And the problem is that once you see it, it’s impossible to ”unsee” it!
Yeah, I didn't see it and I'm not going to continue *trying* to see it cuz if I do, my OCD-ness won't allow me to unsee it and I love this lil thing. It may just be a correctable software issue anyway.
Funny how these sort of things show up as soon as they hit the general public but no so called "Reviewer" ever see them hmmmm

I’ve seen a few people in these forums that are returning their minis for various reasons. It’s interesting that after the “California Streaming” event, all the buzz and interest was the Mini, but now it seems that quite a few people aren’t very happy with it (jelly scroll, bezels, colors, volume button location, loose power button, etc).

My only issue is the jelly scroll. But I’m waiting a week before I decide whether or not to return it. It may be something I’ll just get used to.

How bad is the jelly scrolling effect? I really need to know this before I pickup my Mini 6 at the Apple today in a few hours. I still have a chance to cancel the order.
I decided to cancel my Mini 6 order pickup due do the noticeable jelly scroll effect that the Mini 6 displays have.

I cannot speak for everyone but there was an iOS 15 update for the mini 6 after I setup the transfer of my account, not sure if that addresses the issue a little.

I do notice the “jelly-scroll” on the mini 6 however there is some caveats. For one I don’t notice it dark mode for long text scrolling in portrait mode or landscape mode. I do notice it in the photos.app scrolling fast not at slow or normal speed. I even tried it on a pdf book with a text dense page (black text on white page) and noticed it on fast scrolling only, not on normal speed or slow.

Now it depends on what speed an individual scrolls through text but it’s the refresh rate that I notice more same as my iPad mini 5 and iPhone 12 Pro or any other OLED iPhone I owned.

“Jelly scrolling” from what I read is normal depending on how the refresh components is mounted hence its visible mainly in portrait mode vice landscape. It maybe possible to address with an iOS update to provide more refresh cycles on a static page while viewing text including a web browser but not sure if it may have any impact on battery life. It does not seem like a defect if many people have been observing it as that would be a product recall nightmare for Apple, if it is I suspect a future class-action lawsuit in the making concerning this issue.

I also don’t notice this while watching video, drawing or sketching so I do suspect it’s iOS related.

It’s a shame if it’s a hardware flaw as it’s a beautiful device, somethings I will have to get familiar with such as the new volume button location and power button TouchID but the aspect ration while watching video’s is great it has slim black bars top and bottom (letterbox). The volume of the speakers feels more rounded but can use a little more bass (imho). It’s also got great balanced weight and feels comfortable to hold in the palm with minimal fatigue.

How Apple releases some information pertaining to this issue, soon?

To each their own but while I can see it on the test posted, I don’t see it at all with normal use. Seems like an overreaction to cancel an order or return for this.

Could it be iOS 15 in combination with new 120Hz handling? With that I mean that whatever they added to the code of iOS 15 for the new iPhone 13 Pro might affect the iPads.

It could be helpful if someone with an iPad Mini 5 could do a test with iOS 14 and 15 to see if they can see a difference.
This is an interesting theory, as it is also happening in portrait mode on my M1 iPad Pro running iPadOS 15. It’s not as dramatic as on the mini, but its there.

I've tried hard to duplicate it on my 2021 12.9 on iPadOS 15 and can't at all.
That’s the model I have. Did you try it in portrait? Try scrolling a text heavy page quite fast and I see the text tilt diagonally (Not as bad as the Mini however). I‘m running the 15.1 Developer Beta for what its worth.

Yes. Different web sites, PDF files, Photos app, fast, medium and slow scrolling.

It's easy to see the effect on this site if you look at the red bar lines between posts. Or check The Verge.

Terrible angled distortion in portrait, fine in landscape.

Having used the 13 Pro heavily today has really spoiled my eyes with the Pro-Motion. Ipad Mini looks bad to my eyes now even without jelly scroll.

It’s also vdry notiable in landscape when scrolling between home screens. Look at the widgets or app icons as you scroll horizontally through the pages- they literally wobble!

Sorry, I don't see it and I have sensitivity to such effects - I worked human-machine interface issues in command and control systems. And no, we are not all seeing it on iPad Pros.
Lol, it’s a role reversal joke 😜

Either Apple has really cheaped put on this display, or it’s something they can address in software.
