The Tech 21 is nice if you use the Smart Keyboard as it has the cutout for that. If you don’t use the Smart Keyboard, then I recommend the Zugu Prodigy X. The Zugu is the best case out there as it has good protection, good access to all buttons, a great stand with many angles, and is well made with good materials. However, it doesn’t have a cutout for the Smart Keyboard. I use mine with the Apple Magic Keyboard and it works great.
Agreed. I love the Tech21 case for my 10.5 Pro. I don’t care very much about the Pencil holder, but the case itself is fantastic and stays looking nice. The packaging isn’t lying when it says it’s fingerprint and scratch resistant. I don’t think I’ve ever even had to clean mine off. And it does not allow debris to get in and show through the case either.

Don’t make the mistake of getting their clear iPhone cases though—they are kind of crappy.

Thanks for that, I may look at that next. Got the moko case and it’s only ok, better than the spigen and I can at least access the buttons now but the magnets are very weak and the cover will flop open at the slightest movement. Just a hard plastic shell inside and the “cooling” cutout is just dumb. I’ll keep it for now but I’m really missing my air2 leather case. I did order a fake $10 leather case so we will see what that’s like. I should probably just quit and order the $89 sena case.

Anybody have one of those Senas? I don’t think I saw any pictures yet in this thread.

I’ve got the Sena case. It’s almost perfect. Quality is superb, excellent typing angle (it has a magnet that holds the case in the typing angle). I say almost perfect and the case falls open if held upside down. Not a big problem. It’s probably the best case I’ve every had on an iPad. Thoroughly recommended.

Does the Sena case work with a Apple smart keyboard?

You had me on the sena until you said the cover falls open. That's disappointing. I decided to go with the zugu after reading all the great reviews, should get it tomorrow.

Does anyone know if the Chinese are faking the Apple Silicone cases?

I shudder at the thought of where they would be sourcing their "leather" from (aside from the fact that I don't buy leather period).

I think I've purchased almost every case mentioned or discussed in this thread. The one case which I am most happy with is my last purchase: Zugu Prodigy X. It's very well made, details are spot on, and does it better than any I've tried. My conclusion does not include cases that allow a keyboard attachment (although I bought many in my search for what works best for my needs.) It's an expensive case but you get what you pay for and it works for my needs. Thanks to everyone who contributes to this topic. Hope to reciprocate down the line. :apple::)

Agree. I stopped using the ASK with my 10.5 iPP in favor of the Zugu case.

With a case that bulky, I'd have just gone for a Lifeproof. lol

Don't need waterproof, wanted a front cover, wanted multiple stand angles (all bomb-proof), and it's less than half the price. Two very different animals. I also have a lightweight smart case and an Otterbox Defender but far prefer the Zugu.

I just got the zugu as well. It’s actually a lot less bulky than I thought it would be. Closed it’s a perfect case. I’m not thrilled with how loose the edges are however. Maybe I’m just ocd but I like cases that fit tightly with any pull away from the edges, and the zugu is not tight. I’m going to keep it, it’s a good case if you’ll be traveling but for daily use I’m thinking I might just have to spend the money and get the sena.

Does the sena stay fairly steady when folded?

Surprising - mine is tight on the edges.

Maybe I just got a bad one but it's too much for me, I'm sending it back. Shame because it has some really good qualities but the loose edges are going to drive me nuts if I keep using it. I should have suspected this because I tried a zugu case for my 7+ and had the same complaint, I couldn't stand how floppy the edges were.

I've had mine for less than a week so the cover tolerances may be tighter now than in a month? It takes a lot of intentional pushing to move the cover away from the corners. The cover is solid to the case and fits inside the bezel edge that cover all four corners and edges. The case itself grips all four corners such that there is zero wiggle or movement.

You may want to exchange it for another one....

The Zugu is less bulky than I thought it would be. too. It has the right amount of heft to assure a good grip when in hand. The stand is superb as are the magnets. The cover does not move at all when in a vertical position. This is the result of it being one piece instead of a folding cover. It's also the result of the tight fit to all four corners and bezel edge.

Not much mention of the pencil holder, which is terrific in how it grips the pencil and easily accommodates the cap strap.

Those that mention Lifeproof or Sena and Zugu are comparing apples and oranges. Do the research on this thread (thank you to all) and determine which case/cover has the right design, engineering, materials, fit and finish to serve your needs. The Zugu is the one for me but may not be the one for you.

For those interested here is what the new Electric Blue leather cover looks like. It’s very very vibrant compared to the official pics.

I don’t know if I’m just too ocd or what but I’ve now tried a spigen, the sena, the zugu, a speck, and a moko. The cheap $10 moko has actually been my favorite so far. I don’t know why Apple couldn’t make a leather case but oh well, guess I’ll just keep looking.

I ordered Pad & Quill's Oxford leather case in Chestnut. After reading most of the posts in this thread, and several Amazon case reviews, I decided to purchase a quality case for my new iPad. I found a $10 off coupon online, so final price is $119 with free shipping.

I am not concerned about using my iPad without a case as my previous iPads have proven hard to scratch. I use a case because I am worried about drops, not scratches, as I can be a bit of a klutz.

The case arrived about 20 minutes ago, so haven't had a lot of time to play with it, but it seems to offer excellent protection without adding a lot of weight to the iPad. I prefer nicer, leather cases and I am not disappointed with this case.

The pencil holder needed a bit of pushing and prodding to get the pencil in, and the fit is very snug which is fine; it should loosen up with use, according to the information from the manufacturer.

The case arrived on Thursday, and my impressions so are positive. The case has not added significant weight to the iPad, yet still feels rugged and that the iPad is well protected. The suction that holds the iPad in place works as advertised --- even shook the case with the iPad enclosed and nary a budge.

The pencil holder is super snug -- very difficult to get the pencil. It is a bit of a wrestling match to get the pencil in each time but the leather should loosen up with use, according to the manufacturer (and logic as well).

The case is not a foldable stand for the iPad - to get that functionality one needs the iPad cover, and I may add the cover at a later date but for current usage it is not necessary.

Aesthetically, beautiful case --wanted chestnut, but got the whiskey because the chestnut was not in stock so that was a bit of a bummer.

Finally, is the case worthy of the somewhat hefty $129 price tag? I don't know -- still evaluating based on my personal use. However, a couple points to ponder: the suction is not guaranteed for life of the case -- replacement is recommended if you remove the iPad between 50-75 times, and the attached pencil case also loses its form as well, requiring enforcement at an additional (future) cost.

My iPad purchase was a bit of an impulse buy after deciding not to wait for the new IPP, and I needed a quality case right away. Perhaps I would have purchased a different leather case with more time, but I was not impressed with any of the offerings on Amazon, and Pad & Quill cases are made in the USA, so I don't mind paying a bit more to support a small American manufacturer.
