I said dark scene not dark screen. A scene which is dark and there is actually something happening.
Oh, and in a dark environment not in daylight like you showed the pictures.
I will try to put a video or pictures of what I mean and you will be shocked.

I know what you mean and it's still not an issue imo. I pretty much never do anything in complete darkness and beside some especially dark content like "For all mankind" this is simply not an issue. But again, maybe you are more sensible to this stuff than me. Lucky me then :)

so what? One screen has Mini LED the other does not. We all know these comparison pictures by now. Everybody should simply use one and see if it's an issue for them. Posting random photos of screens under various conditions with cameras set up who knows how makes no sense.

I went out of my way trying to replicate the pictures to be as accurate as what my eyes see. Notice that they are not taken even in complete darkness.

Last night I was really trying to convince myself that the problem is not that big, but the blooming was all over the place in The UI at every moment.

I really, really hope that I was unlucky and got a couple of faulty units.

Lol, brightness is at 15%. I had to put it that low otherwise I got a blown up picture.
How about posting some real content that shows blooming? No one is going to be looking at what you posted for entertainment. A dark scene in a movie would have been the appropriate way to prove your point. Also don’t post it with the camera off to the side which only exaggerates blooming.

This is as clear as I can show it, it gets worse at night.
Notice the bloom in the UI and around the cursor.
It’s going to be very hard to see it on an small screen so if you look at it in your phone is not going to show as bad as it really is, try to zoom the gif to full screen so you can appreciate the extempt of the blooming.

That gif has a width of 500px. I don't see anything :D

Anyway, if all you do is this, you should better get a different device. You'll never be happy with it, and if you don't care for iPad OS an OLED or non Mini LED screen will work better for you. I also have blooming on my iPad Pro, but it's noticeable so rarely, that I don't care. The screen might be the best I have ever used in every other aspect, even better than my LG OLED TV or OLED in my ThinkPad.

LOL, don’t bring me some random promotional picture from the Internet. I would shut my mouth if my IPad looked like the one over there.
It isn’t a promotional picture. It’s a photo from a user here on MR and I added the text.

Hello,

I just received my 2021 12.9” iPP and wondered if these visual issues I’m seeing are normal and others are seeing the same thing due to mini led tech or mine is worse then most and its defective.

when watching mad max fury road on iTunes, I noticed these very quick, not much more than a frame or two, flashes of tint bleeding during high action scenes and its not always in the same spot. I was able to capture it using my iPhone camera in slow mo.

The other thing is when in my iTunes Purchased movie library, the interface is blooming. there is even a squrare around the cursor. is that normal meaning it happens to everyone else. The image is blurry cause I had to slow the shutter down on my iPhone to capture true to life brightness.

these observasion were all made in a dark room since I watch movies in a dark room and not a lit room and screen brightness level of about 15%

looks about right to me. What's weird to me is how perfectly square the bloom is. It makes me feel like some of the bloom is actually software and done on purpose.

Some people….I returned because of the light bleed blooming thing. I ended buying another one a month later. I do t use my iPad in pitch black situation, if I do I accept the blooming. It a trade off for killer color accuracy and just great overall picture. I think some people expect perfection in a mass produced product, I am sure Apple was aware of this. It was a trade off for other beneficial features.

did your second one have the same issues as your first one and realized it was normal?

i didnt expect perfection. just unexpected since i owned a 2020 iPP LCD model

I have not noticed anything like the Mad Max screen cap - that seems wrong, but I don't think it's related to the mini LED (or at least not systemically - maybe a problem with your unit). Seems more likely software-related than hardware to me.

Re: the blooming, when I first got it, mine was similar. Now I am on the iPadOS 15 betas and, while still present, it is significantly reduced. There is no longer the giant square around the cursor - it is MUCH closer to the size of the cursor and if you are not looking for it, you may not notice it in most circumstances. It is clear with no ambient light, but otherwise I can ignore it easily.

Is someone of you playing space sims or something similar?
I'm thinking about getting the new MBP and I love the game Stellaris. It has dark background (space, duh) and UI elements with text/symbols.

I hope someone could give me an impression or describe your experience with the 2020 iPad Pro with similar content.
Yes, I know I can return the MBP if I don't like it. But I'd rather have some peace of mind before I buy...to some extent.

Thank you!

They very likely will in 1-2 months. Doesn’t change the validity of my question 🙂

You know everything about blooming after reading this thread already :) It's visible in certain situations. A pitch black screen with some ui elements will have blooming. I love using my iPad Pro and think it's the best screen I used in a laptop/tablet.

If the potential mini led screen of a MacBook will perform better or worse or the same? Who knows, we will see if it releases this fall 🤷‍♂️

Very good question. I've bought the 2021 iPad and blooming is absolutely horrible on UI elements on black background, like the worst dimming algorithm I've seen and I've seen most. However, for me the iPad is a toy, I use it just for web browsing and youtube, so I don't care much about this issue.
If this issue is present on the new MBP, that's a big deal for me, because I'm a developer and 90% I use the terminal and I work nights.

I think about to try the iOS15 beta. Is the blooming much better on this firmware? The blooming in a total dark room is the only thing which bothers me. Apart from that the picture quality is absolutely magnificent.

Edit: Nevermind, official iOS15 is coming soon anyway.
