Are there actually any iPad Pro’s that doesn’t have blooming at all? My screen only has blooming in a darkroom.

You get used to the blooming eventually. I just dont like when people say it doesnt exist. Its just there in some amount under some circumstances. it only gets better the more you use it. :)
Espcially all those talking head youtube reviewers that say it doesn’t have any blooming, an outright lie

there was a noticeable glowing effect.
Was the glow in square edged chunks? Then it was an artifact of the LED subgroups being larger than the area being lit. If it was a smooth fall off, then it was just what happens any time a bright object is shown against a significantly black background.

A YouTuber shared a website that has different screen tests for iPads! I'm not sure if we're allowed to share outside links, I'll remove this immediately if it is -

https://www.monitor.co.kr for testing your screen for defective inflorescence, brightness level / bruise, readability, color ratio, response time, gamma, color angles, after image burn-in, white balance, black balance, image expression, and screen adjustment.

On the iPad visit the link above, tap on Aa > Request as Mobile Website > Choose from tests 1~14, each test for different defects > Tap on 'Start Test' (big button, 시작하기)> Tap the screen to test through all the screen tests > tap 'X' on lefthand side when finished > then try another test from 1~14.

I understand blooming is necessary with this technology. What i don't understand is why the halo is so wide. I thought there were so many micro-leds that the blooming shouldn't be a giant halo around the light source?

Comparing my 11” M1 model with the second 12.9“ M1 that I got after exchanging the first one, because of blooming.

You exchanged the first one because of blooming or because it was defective? I really don't see how the right one isn't better than the 11", as it's such a minor issue overall.

I exchanged it because of blooming, hoping that the second one will have a less noticeable glare.
I find this issue very distracting, like I said is personal preference. I will probably end up keeping and will sell it when the next Samsung tablet with a similar screen size in OLED becomes available.

It has blooming in extreme scenarios, and looks phenomenal otherwise. Watching good HDR content on it is something else. The brightness this thing pumps out is crazy.
I think they can easily tweak it with software to make it less distracting, but they can also just ignore it lol.

No OLED in the world can replace an iPad if it's running Android imo, but each to their own!

Apple definitely needs to tweak the aggressiveness, having over 2000 dimming zones should allow for much more precise dimming, not anything like the example on the right (which looks like the display has barely 100 zones...)

Quite often if you watch movies and have dark scenes. Every dark scene looks like sh*t.

Yeah, I still have 6 older Android tablets and a while back I gave a Galaxy Tab S7+ a try but returned it - I just can't go back to Android. My 2021 12.9" iPP is a joy to use.

So show us some dark scenes that look like ****. I've heard nothing but praise for this display for movies.

I have a FALD television with many fewer LEDs and dimming zones and I've yet to see anything that looks like **** on that TV. Sure there's a bit of blooming but to have deep blacks and higher contrast than a non-FALD, edge lit television is so worth it. I expect the same or likely much better with this display.

As a pure tablet, there is no competition between even the cheapest Ipad and the best Android tablet, Ipads are far superior.
But I mainly use my IPad for media consumption and lately for cloud gaming with game pass as well as a device for steaming games from my windows gaming pc with moonlight. For those scenarios an OLEd screen with a wider aspect ratio works better for me.
For my daily work I also prefer way more my MacBook Pro over my windows PC.

There are a lot of micro-leds, but they’re situated in groups of 4 such that all 4 in a group are on at the same time. More like 500 regions of 2000 mleds.
