You didn't address any my points and just keep repeating yours, good job

I already did, post 72. I said my iPhone does wobble but not much, and if the iPad does wobble it will wobble much less because the camera protrusion is far smaller percentage wise compared to the size of the iPad. As far as I can see that was the only point you made there.

There is some bizarre choices going on at Apple these days.

Where in their right mind did they think a camera, that virtually no one needs/uses on a device that size, needs to be upgraded so much that it causes the device to wobble on a table when it's main purpose as being upgraded to a pro is to write/draw on it with the Pencil? lol.

It's so mind boggling. It's almost like there is no quality control after the initial marker-erase sketch board meeting about "what might be cool for the 9.7 inch iPad this time".

guys, I think it's clear as day why apple did this. Non-protruding camera is not a marketable feature, it's not even a change comparing to Air2. Noone would advertise their tablet as not having a protruding lense (at least noone has so far). So the choice was a marketable improvement vs no changes at all, I don't see how apple would make the other choice.

Sadly people do use the iPad camera. Don't ask me why, they just do.

I find myself often using my iPad to take pictures of my cats, because I happen to be reading on my iPad when they do something cute, and it's the camera that is literally in my hand at the moment. And I've found that the bigger screen makes it easier to frame the picture, and see exactly what the picture will look like before snapping the photo. So while I personally don't like the awkwardness of holding up something as big as an iPad to take pictures outdoors, I can understand why some people might like doing that.

I often use Ipad for Skype video calls, and sometimes I need to show something in a better quality than skype video allows, so I take a photo with the ipad right away and send it in skype

And I don't like mobile phone for skype as I can't always hear what people say through the small phone speaker

Does it wobble?

Apparently the ArsTechnica review says it doesn't wobble when it's flat on a table. http://arstechnica.com/apple/2016/03/a-day-with-the-9-7-inch-ipad-pro-and-its-accessories/

"In the iPhone 6 and 6S phones, that camera bump causes the body of the phone to wobble a bit when placed on a flat surface. A similar sort of wobble would be bad for the iPad Pro, particularly for people who want to lay the tablet flat on a table and draw on it with the Apple Pencil. Happily, the iPad is so big that it doesn’t wobble at all—the camera bump is just an aesthetic annoyance, not a functional one."

That's good news then.

So basically a non-issue. I've owned multiple iPads and never used their cameras. That said, this new iPad basically has the 6S Plus camera in the iPad body, and the 4K on the 6S Plus in good lighting is very decent. So the iPad Pro & 6S Plus are nice backup 4K cams if my Sony overheats on a project and needs a little cool down time.

frankly i don't care about your quote mining. An iphone and iPad are different devices. I like a case on my phone since it will go outside on my person more, whereas an ipad will stay at home more on a flat surface like a table.

Again take your iphone out of your case and wobble it and pull it on its back along on a hard surface and tell me how confident you feel. If it was flat it would be smooth. Polls show majority are on my side. But if you want to be an apologist go right ahead.

Oh would you look at that. It doesn't wobble.

While it doesn't wobble, the fact that's is not straight is still noticable for me. That and the fact that I will probably literally take zero pictures with this camera because my iPhone's camera is still both better and more convenient, makes its protruding presence annoying at best
I would've definitely bought an iPad Air without a backside camera if such a beast existed

Why would you want a protruding lens on an iPad? Fail.

I don't like it on my iPhone, but I deal. I actually use my iPhone camera and I don't use my iPhone laying flat as much as my iPad.
It’s not what you want, it’s apple making a killing ?? selling you their iPad cases so you can keep your iPad laying flat on a desk. ?

The camera is useful for document scanning.

Your timing couldn't have been worse. I literally just said this:

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/no-ipad-air-3.1962682/#post-22707146

and I've said it before too

https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...-pencil-support.1958309/page-11#post-22611509

I have no issues with my 6S with protruding camera. It does wobble but only slightly. Since iPad is much bigger the wobble will be much less, likely undetectable as the device flexes slightly anyway. As for damage, my 6S camera is flawless but my screen is scratched to buggery. Point is it's tough, and no lol it's not going to be the first thing that makes contact with the floor when you drop it :D:D
You can quote hear say and other people's videos all you want, but I find the protruding lens on my iPad Air annoying for the simple fact that it isn't straight on a flat surface. Combined with the fact that it serves no purpose whatsoever for me I feel validates wishing for a non protruding camera. Heck, I'd buy a no back side camera version. Don't understand why that seems to offend you

Is it me, or quoting years old posts seems odd at best :D ?

As to stay on topic - all flat, minimalistic design rocks(pun intended?), however you cant squeeze all that camera tech into slim phones, you have to either live with protrusion or expect manufacturers to cave in under your minor pressure and make the device 1-3mm thicker just to hear people complaining “why its so damn thick, make it thinner!”.
I always use cases, so it doesnt bother me. Id rather take superb camera over uniformity of the back of the phone as long as tehnology forbids to have both.

Since were really just looking at smartphone cameras, flush is always a more pleasant and better design. I also hear nobody complaining about the thickness of the smartphone in the last decade.

And quoting something of relevance doesn’t need checking the time stamp. It was valid years ago and is to the date.

I don’t mind the camera bump on my iPad Pro, the case that I use has actually made the camera nice recessed in it, I also like the fact that my iPads camera bump looks the same as my phones lol, seems to be just right to me. Do I use the Camera? Sometimes I do, I especially appreciate the ultra wide angle lens.
