okay, hey y'all. i made an account after lurking here for about a week because i have some interesting developments.
from the beginning — so i purchased an IPP 512 wifi + cellular september 3rd with a delivery date of sept 28-oct 5. i bought it for travel primarily as i'm a photographer and traveling with a smaller kit is always preferred.
issue is, i'm heading out of town next week during my delivery period so i've been looking for another solution so i can get it quicker (obv.)
last night i was checking stock even though all of the stores in my state are closed lol. and lo and behold — stores are reopening
on wednesday in austin, tx and they have my model. for reference i live in dallas.
so i immediately phone up a friend who lives in ATX and ask if he can pick it up and meet me halfway. kindly, he agrees and i get the IPP purchased! i'm stoked.
however.
i canceled my online order as i feel like i'm close to the window of possibility of preparing to ship and i dont want to deal with the hassle of having 2 installment payments. which, i know i probably should have waited to cancel until i had it in hand — i know. but what's done is done.
so everything is good to go, i get confirmation that it's available for pick up during my pickup window!
then i got this email.
and of course i start kinda panicking.
but the order details on my order page are still confirmed and good to go.
so i called the store and got the automated 'we are currently closed until further notice.' then i called apple customer service and virtually they were no help. the employee told me it said closed when she googled it. lolol. she then told me she was just as confused as me and if i have an issue tomorrow to just call them back.

now everything online says the apple stores in austin
are opening back up wednesday sept 23rd. even though the apple employee told me she doesn't know.
so here's what i think happened; i
think the apple online store categorized my order into 2 different items. 1 IPP, 1 AppleCare for IPP. when i called apple the automated service told me my '2 items' were ready for pickup. the IPP was ready wednesday during my check in window, and AppleCare was ready for pickup now. however the apple store
is currently closed today as it reopens tomorrow, Wed the 23rd.
so i'm thinking the 'we're temporarily closed' email was generated because just the AppleCare 'item' is ready for pickup today. and the store is currently closed.
