For real Amazon spoils us all with that 2-day shipping. It makes this wait even harder knowing it won't come in two days. I just hope my next 3-4 weeks of waiting go by faster because honestly, the days have been going by sooo slow (especially since school started too).
Right? Like it's so bad but I don't want to study until I have the iPad because I just want everything to be on there. It's an awful decision but I'm like....I can wait a bit, right?

Mine spent 4 days in Incheon. Once it arrived in Anchorage, I received it the next day. Here is the screenshot:

Interesting...that looks like the typical iPhone tracking path from FoxConn. I wonder if they are making the iPads in multiple facilities? My iPad came from the EPZ in China, which I believe is closer to one of the other manufacturing facilities, before it stalled in Hong Kong. Hoping it hurries from there....someday!

Mine has also been in HK for almost 3 days at this point...UPS says it's supposed to be here in Phoenix on Thursday, but this is not encouraging. At least I know that it has some travel buddies to keep it company!

Yea its also still in HK for me! Apple is telling me it'll deliver on Sept. 10th but UPS is saying Sept. 4th! Hopefully neither are right and our iPads come earlier 🤩

Day 26 for me, still processing... been stalking it wayyyy more than necessary lol, getting so anxious to see it move forward!

Same here! Well, ordered it on the 13th. Delivery for me (in Germany) is 4-11. I just want it to move beyond "processing!" there should be an in between step, like, "making your iPad"

Oh god this seems so scary. I just ordered mine. I don't want to wait another month to arrive 😅. I am really suprised tho, how the situation all around the globe is same. No Apple Store has iPad in stock...

I got an email at 11:40pm last night that my iPad had shipped. I still can’t see where it is because my tracking # isn’t working yet but my scheduled delivery is Wednesday the 2nd. I’m a little skeptical since so many of you are getting delays.
I am at Day 22 processing with a delivery window of Sep 1-9 which doesn't look realistic now.

If you guys are having short shipping/delivery times or are close to or already in your delivery window, my guess is that your iPads are shipping from a warehouse in your region instead of from China, unless you are located close to China.

Okay, so my iPad has FINALLY left processing! I had quite the wild time trying to get it to complete the transaction though. Was on the phone with my bank and with apples sales/post-sales team for 2 and a half hours.

In short, I had originally bought my iPad bundled with Apple Pencil and AirPods as part of my student discount, my card that I purchased all three with had expired last week, So apple tried charging the old card.
To make a long story even shorter
- Couldn't change the payment info (web page kept resetting)
- called apple, tried to do it manually, failed
- called my bank, removed fraud flag
- called apple, tried again, failed
- tried entering through the website again, failed
- called apple again, failed
- called my bank again, find out pre-author charge going onto new card, full payment going on old card
- called apple again, failed
- finally get through to post-sales department
- turns out my new card was added to the account three different times, the payment was trying to split among the new cards
- called my bank to authorize the split payment, SUCCESS!!

So now with THAT out of the way, how long does it usually stay in "Preparing to Ship" status?

Wow!! What a headache!!! Mine went into preparing to ship yesterday at around 12 noon and shipped at 11:40 pm that night.

If your Serial Number starts with certain Characters, it tells you where your iPad was made.

For Example:

”DM” and “DL” are both of the Factory Codes for 2 Foxconn Factories that make Apple Products in China. iPad Pros are made in the “DM” Factory. Both my iPad Pro 9.7” from 2017 and this new iPad Pro 11” 2020 were both made in the same factory, hence why they start with “DM”.

Here are both my new iPad Pro and Old iPad Pro Serial Numbers:

New iPP:

DMPD58HENR**

Old iPP:

DMPSM8DHH1**

For Comparison, here is my HomePod’s Serial Number:

HomePod Serial Number:

DLXW79TGHQ**

Here’s the Serial Number of an Old iPod Touch I have laying around.

CCQMP00FF4**

Still made in China, but probably at a Pegatron Factory or something else.

Hope this helps lol.

How do you find out for other countries? Is there a list somewhere?

So we’ve gotten to the bottom of the issue with the microphone :). There are five microphones on the iPad Pro and one of them is right next to the FaceID camera. If you’ll recall, I put my screen protector on backwards. That’s been rectified now :).

Part of my job with my school district is technology support, so you can imagine how fully and unabashedly ashamed with myself I felt after getting off two chats which were escalated and finally talked to a guy on the phone who was just about ready for me to box my iPad back up and get back in line for the six week wait from China, before I happened to ask where the fifth and final microphone was located.

So to change the subject I’ll say day one of using this as my computer went well, and the ability to use it as a computer vs a tablet hinges entirely on the app you’re in need of using. Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides are woeful experiences on an Apple tablet (I’m sure this is by design) but get me over into Pages, Keynote and Numbers and I’m off and running. I’m working through my workflow in the files ecosystem (which may get easier with iOS 14) and overall, I accomplished 95% of my job today without moving over to the MacBook Pro.
