Well, judging by your photos (*cough* and if no Adobe products were used *cough*) then that is one hell of a bent iPad.

Out of the box like that?

I'd return that pronto.

Wow. That’s super bent.

Does apple really box these up like this?

Of course not! Either the re-seller opened, the OP is not disclosing something, or there was some kind of other tampering. It looks like on the back side someone wanted to see how bad it would scratch. I've never EVER seen something come from factory that way.

Bent it definitely is. You could take the 1984 approach and tell yourself it’s straight, and also that 2+2=5. But it is definitely bent.

Looks a little bent to me. I'd suggest finding something to protect the screen (like a thick piece of paper) and then driving over it SLOWLY. That should even out the bend.

Driving over it?? As in with a car??

...and make sure it is screen side down so that the camera bump doesn't make it worse. ;)

Which applies to any tablet or laptop you’re carrying around in a rucksack or bag.

A device that is specifically made for mobile usage needs to be able to withstand a little normal bumping around. You're not going to mount it in a display case and just look at it, nor is it a desktop device that just stays stationary.

People always have to find something to nit pick and complain about IMO if no one brought this up no one would have ever paid any attention to it. If it doesn’t affect usability performance or how you hold the device then who cares

It does effect performance. It makes the touchscreen stop responding eventually.

Of course it does. But as we’ve seen with laptops recently, people have been putting them in rucksacks with books and leaving them lying around with the books on top then wondering why there’s impressions of the keys on the screen or in some cases, cracked screens.

Just use common sense and these devices are more than robust enough to stand up to a lot.

So I am curious, as I have been interested in getting the new iPad Pro 11”, does this issue effect the both sizes equally, or is it more common on the 12.9” model mainly?

Well I own 2 new IPP 2018 11" and 12.9" both with Verizon LTE and my 11 inch start to get a bend in took it to apple. it was a nightmare to get it replaced. they wanted to charge me $500 and i had AppleCare+ finally got the manager to just replace it..

I kept my 11" with LTE that has a slight bow near the antenna lines, but im honestly thinking that there is a serious problem with these. I typically discount comments from relatively new posters, but I've seen a lot of 11" LTE iPad Pro's myself (all slightly bent/bowed) and then pictures from long time members here.
