So as someone who now has a 12.9 Pro as well, how did people first notice the bending starting?

This isn't a bend issue but I ordered an iPad Pro 11" and it arrived with a huge ding in the top right corner. I returned it and I think I'll just wait until the next gen when they work out their manufacturing issues. I don't know how a major ding like that gets past QA. Definitely not something I expect from a product of that price range.

My wife an I upgraded to the new 12.9" iPad Pros several weeks ago. I have taken mine on multiple plane flights with the iPad stuffed in a backpack. I also take mine to work each day in a leather messenger bag shoved in between books, notebooks, etc., still perfectly flat (just checked it). The device is awesome and I don't regret my purchase at all. I was originally on the fence about purchasing one because of some of the incidences some people have had but I can tell you that I treat this one just like I did my Original iPad Pro 12.9" and have not experienced any problems so far. My wife only uses hers at home and she tends to not be as careful with her stuff as I am but hers is still flat also. It's a great device.

You can not buy the iPad.
Lol my ipad pro is bent too! my ipad pro currently is in technnical support... they said in the first time is MY ISSUE ( wtf ), because apple made well product and test it, this alumminum is very weak... what we can do? for example in the best case, if i recibe my ipad pro in the future is very possible with this materials and with normal usage get a bent, this device is really bad made..
I can buy a nice Bumper case... but currently they don't care about this problem, i will get a better answer in 3 days, i hope a nice answer... ( new one for sure ) ..

I wouldn’t count on a nice new answer from the look of it. I think some of the bends mentioned in this thread have some merit. However, your iPad shows pretty clear evidence of the aluminum buckling, which wouldn’t happen miraculously by itself. Best of luck to you though.

Yeah, when you bend something rigid, the structure can be deformed.
This ipad wasn't made for curved. There is so many ways for bending this Ipad pro.

iPad Pro 10.5 took out of box and placed into defender summer 2018. This week started cycling on and off on its own. Brought it in, they claim my iPad Pro is no longer under warranty because the iPad bend is physical damage that I caused . I laugh because this iPad has been treated like a family heirloom (only used by me for business)... the other 4 iPads we own are used by kids and they all work fine despite tough treatment. The “geniuses” at the store claim iPads don’t come bent because they have not posted anything about that on the Apple.com website. When asked about the 14 day bent iPad return policy they say I should have taken advantage of that during the 14 days but remember they don’t come bent

I've never heard of a bent Samsung tablet.
well samsung tablets doesnt sell so well, and until Samsung 5e there wasnt some with metal under 6mm thick
Lets see samsung 5e it will bend as easy as the ipad pro

I've just started looking at buying the 11'' iPad Pro. I currently own the 10.5'' 2017 iPad Pro. This bend issue is really concerning me and making me think twice about buying this model.

I apologize if this has been asked before, but is the bend issue limited to cellular models only or does it affect WiFi only models as well?

All ipad pro have this poorly quality.
If you apreciate your money, don't buy them.

I was not going to upgrade this cycle either after hearing the reports of peoples new iPad Pro’s being bent. I eventually gave in and upgraded mine and my wife’s to the new ones (12.9 iPad Pro, wireless not cellular). I have treated mine no different than I did the version one iPad Pro that I had. Have taken several plane flights with mine, shoved it in my leather messenger briefcase everyday as I head to work, etc. After several weeks its is still perfectly flat. I even checked it on Friday at work because I have a co-worker that has one also and we have joked around about whether ours are bent or not. Still perfectly flat and I love the device. Don’t regret buying it at all.

[doublepost=1551065323][/doublepost]I guess that’s the point, they are coming PRE-bent from the factory. Yours is flat and you did nothing to bend it. There are many iPads out there that are bent even though the owners did nothing different or were even less aggressive with them than what you describe, which is totally awesome that’s the experienice you should have and that I have had with all of my other iPads.

1- apple admits iPads can be shipped bent/curved and just recently advises to return within 14 days if not satisfied with flatness

2- apple will void your warranty if the iPad is bent/curved even the slightest if there is anything that goes wrong because they will say the bend/curve is user physical damage even though there are iPads shipped that way from the factory

Pretty shady

I would say that the vast majority of new iPad Pro owners are not experiencing any bending with their iPads.

Take calm, you are a New owner, this Ipad pro have a very short lifetime, can you see how in the future will appear more and more curved Ipad pro.
Yeah you too, your ipad pro can curved :). Don't forget that, new ipad owner.

Hold off until the fall for the updated Pro (yes, already). They’ll fix the chasis, and the bending issue will go away. At least for those that buy the updated device

Black is not white, and bent is not normal for a £1K plus product. Don’t let Apple tell you otherwise. (Their official position, and I’m not making this up, is that the bending is normal.)

Some LTE models have been exhibiting bending right out the box; all models have otherwise been shown to exhibit bending through normal wear and tear. Have a look at this forum, and some others; read some personal accounts. There are some real shockers out there. I dread to think what some of these machines will look like in 4 years time; a real horror fest, I bet

Can you provide sources for how you know that there will be an "updated Pro" this fall?

Pretty shady - you hit the nail on the head: normal wear and tear is bending some of these suckers. Check this thread for the guy whose screen is likely to pop, the bending is so bad. People who are treating these devices like rare archaeological finds are nonetheless documenting their kit deteriorating over time. Utterly unacceptable

TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who’s very rarely wrong. In fact he almost always gets it right

He also reckons on a 10.2” entry model appearing this year, which sounds pretty neat

Like Business Insider says, if you've heard a rumor about an unreleased Apple product in the past five years, there's a good chance it came from Ming-Chi Kuo
