They may introduce new colors or sizes (doubt it, but hey). If their numbers tell them a lot of these are bending (and only they know, forums are heavily skewed) they may even quietly tweak the internernal structure, like change some material or manufacturing or something.

But announcing a new iPad Pro, as in A13-powered iPad Pro, not very likely. Certainly not because of “bending”. If they do announce a new iPad Pro it will be because they have a new chip ready for it and some new features that they think will sell, which is unlikely this year, based on the recent upgrade cycles.

The fact they put their most advanced chip generation in this iPad Pro (which was not the case with previous Pros) tells me this one is meant to last a while, most likely until 2020.

I fully expect the vast majority of 2018 iPad Pros to be fully functional in the next four years.

Sure, they improve things all the time. They didn’t upgrade the iPhone 6 sooner because of bendgate and most of iPhones 6 were and still are fine. iPhone 6 was one of the great iPhones and tech history will remember it kindly.

I'm not so sure about that. My 12.9" 2nd gen iPad Pro got replaced due to unresponsive touchscreen a few months ago and now this new one is doing it.[/B]

Lots of things will break if you do that to it! My laptop screen would snap, my phone would break etc. Don't do it. Why would you?! Lol.

I don't think that guy takes very good care of his equipment ha ha...but still it is much too easy to bend.

Actually look up his video on your phone I bet it doesn't bend that easily.

Also NO laptop displays do NOT bend that easily. Source: computer tech for 14+years.

There are very few, if any, situations where the same degree of force would be applied to either side of your iPad at the same time. I've been carting this thing around in a full rucksack, tossing it onto the sofa etc just like I would any iPad, and it's still perfectly straight. The video is just demonstrating how not to treat fragile modern tech.

Which is fine, but that still doesn't make any of the above statement valid or true.

The above video in question is silly. Several things can be destroyed with very little force.

A tablet or any electronic device should never be subjected to abuse to determine if it is good..

How stupid!

That is ludicrous! Any modern phone or tablet gets hammered by just touching concrete from any distance..

Do people cut up a new cars interior with a knife to see how tough it is? I don’t think so.

Cars are not meant to hit things, they’re fragile just like electronic devices are.

Honestly I think if it was leaning against the arm of a sofa, and someone sat down, I could see this happening. you’d end up with an iPad that looks just like the pictures of what people post on here, claiming it came out of the box like that haha.

Well I just picked up my new 11inch WiFi iPad Pro yesterday and this thing is as flat as it can be, I’m so happy.

It would appear that the staff in the Apple Stores have been briefed/told how to respond with questions about this issue and two different staff members said almost the exact same lines when I was grilling them over the issue with the new pros.

Hi all

I am new here, but not new to Apple, having had an iPhone since from the iPhone 3 onwards (now on iPhone 10) - and a 2nd gen iPad that I am still using, which has been working fine....Last weekend I went to buy another iPad, as mine is a little old now...did the reviews - all said how great the new iPad Pro was - nothing about it bending at all...so I went and bought the iPad Pro 12.9 wifi with stylus - the 256G model - expensive but I thought worth it for the size, the screen compared to the others - and able to draw on it...

Now, however, after reading all this thing about bendigate on the iPad, which I had never heard of before for the iPad - it's now made me super paranoid and put me right off the thing - despite the fact that it's in a case and protected - I just feel I cannot trust it not to bend - which is silly, I admit - but this is supposed to be a long term purchase like my previous iPad and if I cannot trust it not to bend at some point....it's soured me so much that I have put the iPad away back in its box and don't even want to touch it - silly I know but I am heavy handed and feel like just looking at the thing will break it..

And, for the record, mine is not bent at all (at the moment but how long before it does?) and is running fine....

So, have no idea what to do here - I would take it back but that's not possible as the company I bought from will not do refunds...

Kind of had the same feeling when bendgate anecdotes started to pick up pace here on MR. But I decided to keep using it since it fitted my work and studying needs perfectly.

Status: I had my 12.9 since launch day, carried it with me for quite a number of flights, used it every day at work and at home for reading and office type of work. The iPad Pro remains totally straight and my favorite computing device of all time.

Certainly I take a bit more care compared to how I treated my 10.5”. IMHO the odds are greatly in you favor if you do the same.

Thank you for your thoughts on this too - I thought I might have been the only one with worries like that - I have gone back where I bought it, and chatted it through - although they will not refund, they will replace if there is an issue at anytime - and as I have the extended insurance cover on this with them, that will cover it...(interesting to note that they have never heard about iPad bending issues and have had none of the 12.5, 11 or even the 10.5 returned for bending issues - and we are talking about a national chain here).

...which makes me worry a little less - so now I just think I better get a much sturdier case as well - current is a Sandstrom leather case, with a solid plastic back for the iPad, folding front cover and bumper corners - but the sides are a bit exposed..so need one with solid plastic back, with no bend, and rubber to cover the sides...I better get looking!

Am also wondering if taking Apple Care put on this one as well is worth it?

With it being a very expensive device I would, yes your country's code for buying things/bank card etc may cover things but tbh Apple Care makes things just easier.

Since re checked 11" iPad Pro
I won't be posting any further to this board.
Happy as ipp is straight ,no bends visible when raised or lay flat.

been using my new one since the first of the month (12.9 wifi) and no problems what so ever so far! I got apple care so if it does bend 50 bucks and i get me a new one.

Ill tell you one thing though, it is never ever leaving my desk, and the moment the Brydge keyboard for it comes out, im getting it and in it it will stay until the day i sell it for the next model!

Still want a iPad Pro... walked into a non Apple store with Apple concession to look at it again.

Picked up the iPad Pro display model, held it on it's side and looked down the long edge (camera closest side) and there was a very visible bend. More so on one side that the other. Perhaps that camera bump is not helping issues!

Maybe I was holding not wrong. ;)

This is a display model. It sits on a raised pedestal (round angled silicone rimmed disc of plastic). I imagine it rarely gets put flat on the table. Nor is it going through the rigours of real world scenarios and daily use stresses, in and out of bags etc. etc.

It's a real pity they messed on this because it's a beautiful device.

I can imagine someone came in and did a bend test on a display model lol
