Uhh yeah you didn’t prove anything about the claims of ipads magically bending on their own by linking to vids about people bending them in half with their hands.

Apple employee? They bend. Many many many cases as you can see. They bend too easily in the hands, they bend in a bag, they bend when they fall, and they bend mysteriously for no known reason, possibly even temp change which you mock. Take it easy. Stay calm. The boss might not like it if you bounce around in your cubicle. Suggest they make the next gen out of something more rigid than beer can grade aluminum.

No they don’t to bend a mysteriously for no reason because no reason means there is nothing causing them to bend which is correct. My 12.9 1TB LTE has a slight curve along the antenna lines, less though than the antenna part of my old iPad Air 2 at the top where the plastic was, which was a greater point of weakness. It hasn’t bent on its own and it flexes no more easily than my previous iPad Air two or my iPad Air old model if you try to bend one of them. Stop being a shill for media hype and those that damage their gear and want to blame Apple. Also remember nothing mass produced is perfect no matter how much it costs, if you want to see some horrific bends have a look at some LG OLED TVs that cost way more than a iPad and have much greater bends. I am sure there are some out there that are bent because of various reasons, but its not a disease that makes them curl up into a tube shape, and they don't bend as far as I can tell magically on their own, or even just by typing.

The issue isn't so much the bending as the unresponsive screen seems to result from it.

I've owned iPads since the first model and gave the original iPad with cellular away to my mother in law and it still works perfectly. Why should any of us accept NEW 12.9" iPads that have screen issues within 1-2 years as "normal"?

Duh the LG oled tv's are SUPPOSED to bend!

"but LG's latest OLED TV has something entirely different going for it: it's completely flexible, and can roll away into its base when not in use."

Results from it? I haven’t seen anything that says bending is causing the issue. I’m not saying it couldn’t cause an issue, but all the reports I’ve seen, the OP never mentioned theirs was bent.

I really hope that was sarcasm because a 55" metal backed OLED screen isn't "completely flexible" nor are the Sony OLED screens but they are still bent more often than not. As to bent iPads just googling bent iPad Airs, and iPad Air 2s provides ours of banana shaped fun even the iPad minis get in on the act. ;)

My Air 2 had a unresponsive screen, think that was more its age than it bending considering it was hard to type on at any angle. Also I see no correlation between bent iPads and screens being unresponsive but I'm also not saying that cant happen. At present my 12.9" Cellular/WI-FI model is responding just fine. Once again maybe unresponsive screens are more down to cheap mass manufacturing than anything else. Apple make their money not by using high quality components, but by giving the illusion they do after all. ;)

I quoted the linked article. You just added "metal backed".

Anyone carrying a new iPad Pro in a bag or backpack, should consider buying a Pelican hard case. These cases are roughly 1” thick, waterproof, crush proof, and drop proof.

Pelican 1065CC is $29.99 the internal dimensions are perfect for the iPad Pro 11” even with a smart folio on the iPad, to fit snug inside without moving around.

The Pelican 1075CC will fit a iPad Pro 12.9” with a snug fit also.

These hard cases are thin, and work well! Use it to carry your iPad from point A to B with worry of crushing it or bending it.

I just ordered one. These are awesome! The Dimensions on the Pelican 1065CC are
(9.96" x 7.76" x 0.81" Internally) the iPad Pro 11” is just shy of the dimensions by about a 1/4” of wiggle room. It is perfect!

So well designed for 2018 iPads it showing what looks like a 9.7" iPad air 2. Hmm. On a serious not No it looks like something a cheap toolkit comes in. All a bit OTT.

No I was talking about the standard OLED TV, the one that sits on a stand, you are just being pedantic for fun, time to back out of the domain of the troll.

Not sponsored by Apple.

On a serious note, I have been increasingly amazed as I have read this thread. As much as I like Apple products, they really need to be taken out to the woodshed for this one.
Nothing wrong with this Apple product from my point of view. Mostly on forums you see people complaining, rarely do you see people being happy with their product. If you google iPad and bending you will see almost all iPads from the mini to the original Air being bent or bendy.

On MacRumors if Apple produced the greatest device ever, and it was universally praised it would be hated here. This forum is like the online equivalent of a very bad case of self loathing, OCD and manic depression. People buy something from Apple, look at it under an electron microscope for as long as possible to find as many issues as they can, so they can revile in hating their purchase publicly.

Do you also believe that the bright spot issue which most particularly seems to have affected the 10.5 Pro is also overblown/invented/a figment of people's imaginations?

I think you are too closed up. The issue is that until now all iPads where fine. The new ones are super fragile and that is what most people don't like. Given the price tag, the fragility and issues that arise from it its a valid point to be upset.
Its not media hype, its what it is. You can be blind to it as much as you want but it won't change the fact that Apple didn't design it well to be used long term

There have been reports of previous iPads having the same issue. Sure, the newer ones seems to be more fragile and likely bend easier if you try to bend it, but if it was a big problem, you’d hear more about it. I don’t see new threads popping up on here very often and I don’t see anything in the news about it. We pretty much have one thread on this site about the issue and it’s not filling up with reports of bending. It’s filling up with arguing about what’s possible.

sure, the previous one could bend too but not as easy.
I have Air 2 and used it since 2014 and its still perfectly flat. Do I want to get this new one with worry that it will not be because its not build with the same structural rigidity as the one I have? Nope, I don't and its a shame because I really like the new one but I'll wait for an update with stronger aluminium. Apple charges premium and for that I want them to at least maintain rigidity. Whats next? iPad made of eggshells?
iPad is super portable and it does take small "abuse" so it needs to withhold that. I don't see the new ones being build that way and because I want device that will again last me another 5-6 years then I'm happy to wait for Apple to get it right.
I can babysit my laptop easily but I'm not willing to babysit my ipad. And I can tell you that when I take my Air 2 out the case it looks brand new. I'm careful person but i can have my Air 2 in a bag and I know that even if there is a small pressure for other items it will still be fine. I can't say the same about the new ones as they seem super "soft"
So yeah, wait time for me :)

The new iPad pro’s are plenty tough. You can use one just like any other iPad, and not worry about bending at all. This bending issue is silly. It has been blown way out of proportion. As some one who has owned more then a few of the new iPad pro’s, and handled around 10 of them on top of that.

Any electronic phone, or tablet can bend.

My iPad seems solid! I actually only have a thin folio on it, and it’s great. I ordered a Pelican 1065CC case for hard and abusing transportation near water and such.

They are quality hard cases, not cheap or flimsy at all, and they have stainless steel hardware and hinges. They did come out sometime ago for use with older iPads. And it is just a coincidence that it fits the new iPad pro’s so well due to shrunk down bezels, and maximum screen to body ratio.

I ordered a 1065CC for protection during tough transportation of my iPad.

Throw it in the bag, sitting or standing on the bag is no problem, and if the bag gets wet by accident it’ll be ok.

I think you are missing Freida’s point. But whatever.

I have been looking for something like this. But wouldn’t it just slide around horizontally and bang into the edges?

Ermmm.... That’s not true. I posted earlier in the thread that after this became a ‘thing’ I checked my WiFi iPad Pro 10.5 and it was bent. I have upgraded to a WiFi Pro 11 and it was not bent out of the box (I haven’t checked it since).
