Are you sure about UPS21...because for one it shows the departure date as tomorrow and while I know it is tomorrow in China, the scheduled departure time was 1 hour ago and it hasn't left...I use flight aware and if it were delayed it would have said so

The problem is, FlightAware ONLY updates flights that are located within certain boundaries in the ATC reporting system in the US.

It will say on that page in red "At least part of this flight occurs outside of FlightAware's service area. Information on this page may be unreliable."

This means that (like I said) until about 3-4 hours out from Alaska, NOTHING will update on that page. After that time, it will update. Trust me it left bud, don't worry I have watched international flights before and I have watched about 10 of these flights in the past few days :D

If it is a repeat of UPS21, then it may result in those packages reaching KY at 10:20 AM on Saturday... which means they are probably not going to make it in time.

WOW. THANK YOU SO MUCH THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED TO READ RIGHT NOW... AWESOME

Ordered within first 2 hours...

OK...thanks again...you rock

My status has also been updated that it left Guangzhou and is now in transit to KSDF.

I doubt it was on UPS21. That's from Hong Kong. My guess would be it already is in PANC. UPS71 from Guangzhou to PANC arrived about 25 minutes ago. My guess is the scan of it arriving in Anchorage triggered the updates.

I thought the flight to the US was routed through Alaska? Surely it's not going straight to Kentucky?

:D:D:D
Problem is, the system is saying that its net UNLOAD and SCAN will be in KY - that is the ultimate point of entry into the US.

It will go through Alaska FOR SURE - that is UPS's operating structure. Plus there are no flights that can go that far in terms of direct.... not in an MD11 anyways :). That is why if you look at UPS21's tracking page, you will see it go to Alaska and then to KSDF after it refuels.

Your package may never actually leave its container - the crews in Anchorage must sort out all local shipments, as well as shipments with customs holds or flags, then reload the aircraft with all of the continuing shipments (your iPads) and then all local shipments going out, then it will depart for KSDF - where the ipad will then enter the mainstream sorting system.

My iPod touch and Customer Service replacement iPhone 3G did the same exact thing - trust me :)

Sorry! Haha I don't like it either... but I do NOT think UPS21 will repeat again with those times. I think it may operate again from there but probably not with those times.

That is good conjecture, but that is not how the UPS systems update.

When there are scan times like that, it is basically saying that the next scan and unload and entry time will be at that location.

I assure you of that.

And I think the reason it says Guangzhou is because their office in hong Kong is labeled as Guangzhou, and I looked it up again and ZGGG Guangzhou and VHHH Hong Kong are very close to each other - so it is very possible that the Guangzhou office may have "handled" the responsibility for assigning their scans.

It could ALSO be that the Guangzhou office had to transport their packages to VHHH - and their crews (which they do use mobile crews) scanned them with their hand scanners, which will register as being in Guangzhou. Although in UPS's system it will reflect being sent from China on that UPS21 manifest, however the customer update system does not reflect that info because it is based on much more basic information.

Yes, the blackout theory seems shot. :)

Some data to add: my friend and ordered online within minutes of each other, within minutes of launch, and we live in the same zipcode. So far our tracking has been mostly parallel. He was slightly ahead of me at first but now we get the same timestamps.

Still Nothing

Still no movement yet. So far I only have Billing Information received. I give UPS till 1PM Central Time tomorrow before I raise hell with Apple and UPS.

Rochester, nice.. I went to Geneseo, dated a girl from RIT, and used to love The Garbage plate from Nick Tahoes!

Nice!!!!

Yea Nick Tahoes is sadly gone... Steve T's now or something. But Martuciellos is still there and both places still have AWESOME food :)

Yupp...

I (again) think that UPS brought that plane in to "save" those packages, because UPS will allocate equipment to certain areas if they are on a fized route, but may need assistance somewhere else - they will send equipment to the other route to help.

I think that UPS21 was a bring in flight (it usually goes from Anchorage to KSDF, and now has been diverted to China, where it will go to PANC, then resume a later timed route to KSDF just after it lands and unloads'loads packages after sorting).

UPS has an ultimatum:

The next (scheduled) flight out from China is that from ZGGG, Guangzhou at 7:30 AM EST tomorrow. With this in mind, that flight will give the packages enough time to get to PANC, then to KSDF by about 1 AM Friday night, leaving plenty of time for those packages to make it on flights to get to the Saturday Delivery areas.

NOW - IF UPS decides to bring in a "relief" flight for those packages still with "origin" scans or just "billing info" statuses, I don't know what time that will be.

If it is a repeat of UPS21, then it may result in those packages reaching KY at 10:20 AM on Saturday... which means they are probably not going to make it in time.

IF however they choose a new flight, it may just divert this one DIRECTLY to ZGGG of VHHH and have it relocate there until a "new departure time" is established, and it can load the remaining packages.

Basically, UPS has about 14 hours left to show me they have moved my package. Otherwise, I am going to piss my pants lol. But until then, I have faith in the system I know so well :)
Maybe. But I doubt it. I think they left ZGGG earlier today and the tracking wasn't updated until it hit PANC. My guess is it was on UPS71. Just a guess though.

They frequently change flight numbers and even swap AC types on the flights that are somewhat consistent. Much more so than passenger airlines.

I guess we'll know when (or if) we see it show up in SDF.

Either way I think we're all happy to see movement!

[edit]
I didn't realize VHHH was so close to ZGGG. TechDude, thanks. I feel less positive about my guess now. :)

Again, either way we can be happy they are moving. :)

So basically, those of us who just have Billing and Origin scans right now have until appx. 7:30am EST tomorrow morning to see some kind of departure activity on our shipments or we're screwed? ;-)

Nice man! Can you tell me when you ordered again? And when your billing info went through...

Also those timestamps are the same because - as I said before (haha I love it when it works like I know it does) they are scanning by manifest, no longer by single parcels :)

In essence...

I would wait a little bit longer though because sometimes they don't show up RIGHT away - like people's scans for 4:11 PM EST departures are coming at about 5 PM EST... so we do have to leave SOME lee way.

But again, they may bring in a later flight that day to pick them up.

But lets see tonight what the statuses show, because remember how people's statuses showed 8 AM and 4 AM and other AM Export scans? Those should happen as the packages are prepared for the flight out tomorrow morning, and those should reflect tonight or overnight tonight :D

Mine is still at origin scan and billing info received, been like that since tuesday!

Although an exception is showing in iship tracking.

Not sure if that is good or not but my ipad is being delivered to a re-shipper in LOUISVILLE Kentucky so might i still get for Saturday. I believe they are shipping Monday to me in the UK so probably doesn't matter if delayed but i would prefer Saturday delivery as it was promised.

I placed order 18th March originally.

What does the expert think - will i get in time?

why do you think only SOME people's packages showed export scans

Depends.

Some people also are not using the iship.com method, and the UPS site has been known to cut out things from some packages and not from others (in terms of status).

So there is a variable there too we must account for...

However it may just be the process they went through or where they went.
