iPad shipped, Apple just sent out tracking numbers!

Oh well, I think I am going to return mine unopened anyway so it really doesn't matter when I get it. I think for my needs a netbook will be better (and cheaper). Yes I know all the arguments already, so don't bother.
Stuck in Louisville blues. iShip.com shows me stuck in Louisville since 1:36AM yesterday.

This is my shipping status if I click on the UPS tracking number:
THE SERVICE SELECTED IS NOT AVAILABLE TO THE DESTINATION ADDRESS / DOWNGRADED, FORWARDED TO CONSIGNEE, SELECTED SERVICE IS NOT AVAILABLE
I called Apple, they put me on hold while they contacted UPS and said not too worry, shipping is guaranteed for Saturday. I said I'm still confused by the status, he said he was too.
I've been told numerous times by UPS that the "exception" status only means that the package has been assigned a different type of shipping service and may include a different type of tracking service. It has nothing to do with when you'll receive it. It will not affect your delivery, whether Saturday or Monday, at all.

I can't believe how excited and dissapointed I am. I haven't seen an update now in 3 days an wondering how on earth they expect to deliver by Saturday if it has only traveled a 100 miles in China in 4 days.
Is it wrong to be this hung up on a product? LOL I have had to recharge my iPhone twice today already just checking the UPS website.

So much for the blackout theory! This just happened! Hopefully this will apply to many of you!

And think of Apple and how many people would be calling looking for free swag because they didn't keep their promise?
Oh, and the fact there are more UPS flights going out... which reminds me, UPS21 from Guanzhou is now departing... our statuses mights update if it is on that flight.
Looks like mine is on that plane that just left, I just got a departure scan.
I have a feeling ours will be sitting still until they are literally on their way to us.

This morning after I got the email I called ups international and spoke to a guy who said I was like the sixth person in a row that had called him about this delay. He put me on hold and got back to me to say that he had me list for Sturday delivery and he was unaware of why Apple would send out that email. I live in a not very populated county of Northern California and I would expect someone like me in a place like this to get bumped, but hey the UPS guy said it would be here. My iPad has been sitting in Kentucky since 1:36 yesterday morning. I have faith that it will show up. Why not? Maybe Apple has sent out that email like some one else said just to cover their butts.

That sucks. Well we will have to see as the day(s) go on. I am going to try calling UPS China tonight with some Skype credit I have left over and see what turns up with them...

. Well I hope you made an informed decision, and at least you had the excitement while it lasted Most likely there are two things that have/will happen(ed):
1) The package has already been moved to your local facility and has just not been scanned. However, if it had done so, the status would show a departure scan.
2) The package is sitting in KY. It should NOT move until tomorrow or (more probably) Friday night. If your area has Saturday delivery, they HAVE to have a UPS flight going somewhere near there from KSDF on Friday night. UPS would not move the package to a local facility unless it was forced to - because the local facility does not have as much space to store those types of special holds, and also - they may be trying to keep the iPads from being release early.
OMG EPIPHANY! SATURDAY DELIVERY - IT PROVIDES APPLE PROTECTION AGAINST EARLY PACKAGES!!!!! UPS would hold the packages at KY until Saturday (unless they are shipped more recently, like mine and other apparently are). In that case, they would ONLY be flown out on a Friday night, and would NOT be shipped to a local facility and possibly shipped early - as Apple wants to protect their packages, and it is easier to do so when they are on pallets in bulk.

Darn it! Still just Billing and Origin scans for me, so it looks like mine did not go out on the recently departed flight from China. I'm really beginning to doubt whether mine will be here for Saturday delivery, though I did not get an e-mail saying it wouldn't.
I wonder if Apple will compensate those whose order status stated it would be delivered Saturday but it doesn't make it (except those who don't live in Saturday delivery areas, of course)?
