damnit I just got the same email.

I'm going to call UPS to see if I can pick it up Sat

You probably can't - Apple has to give a release for you to be able to do that, and request that it be held at the local facility. And if they don't do that, you can't pick it up until after at least 1 delivery attempt. Even then, sometimes they will deny you the right to do it.

I just got off the Phone with a Manager at UPS. They told me that Apple has given orders to UPS to not deliver before Saturday and to make sure this doesn't happen they are not giving the tracking information. The tracking information that is being reported by some was due to a mistake in the system. I was also told that Apple has hired several private Security firms including Xe to guard UPS regional shipping centers to make sure nothing goes out before Saturday. With this UPS is not able to fully track your package but the manager did tell me that mine is in Louisville where it will be until Friday night.

The only thing my tracking status says is "Billing Information Received"

The only thing I have to add is that Apple is treating the iPad like its some State Secret that has to be guarded at all cost. Steve must be getting paranoid.
I'm guessing UPS was sick and tired of iPad nuts calling them about when their iPad will be delivered and what's up with the tracking info. lol They just said "forget it, we're not distributing tracking info".

So I called my local UPS Distro. I have a biz so I know a few people over there that I have to deal with from time to time.

So my gal said she did not know if it would go ours on Saturday (I am in a no go zone). She said she was not sure and that the driver managers were in a meeting that she would get back to me.

So she called me back (left a message) and said that she just got an email from UPS security and that they have been told to no give out any more information about anything, that she was not even allowed to tell me if I would get it or not.

So take that for what you want... I may or may not get it.

BTW - I am going to try calling UPS China and seeing if they will help better - I emailed their China branch when the iPod Touch preorders started, and they helped me a lot.

I know everyone is anxious to get their iPads on Saturday, but at the end of the day if UPS can't deliver, then whatever. Sunday will come and then you'll have your iPad on Monday.

Has anyone actually had their tracking info change in the last 12 hours or so?

I'm starting to think we may be entering the tracking information 'blackout' phase some people have talked about with the 3GS launch. It seems like logically now is when we would see a lot more tracking movement as the shipments finish their big jumps and start moving through the U.S. Instead it seems like everyone is 'stuck' today.

My tracking info hasn't changed in over 24 hours, it says it's still in:

4/1/2010 10:21:00 AM EXPORT SCAN GUANGZHOU, CN

keep in mind that's 10:21 Guangzhou time, which was last night here.

Darn it - their customer service hotline is closed until 7:30 PM EST tonight :(

Oh well.

Maybe I should call Apple, lol... nah I don't think I will. I am not overly worried yet...

Agreed.

It will be interesting to see if anything changes in iship.com. I know my tracking number shows some extra scans that UPS doesn't.

mines been in EXPORT SCAN status since 3/30 at 10:28 PM

Haha you are further than some - some show (like mine) Origin and Shipment Info only.

The last UPS rep I talked to said by Monday... and then some say "Oh it is Apple so yea - by Saturday end of day."

Lol apparently some people are recognizing them and some people in the intl. dept. aren't for whatever reason.

Still this :confused::

3/30/2010 3:24:00 PM ORIGIN SCAN SHENZHEN, CN
3/29/2010 1:00:00 AM UPS INTERNAL ACTIVITY / UPS INTERNAL ACTIVITY LOUISVILLE, KY US
4/1/2010 5:32:00 PM BILLING INFORMATION RECEIVED CN

I've lost my patience already. I just wanna know where it is right now.

If it makes you feel any better at all. This is what I have and it has been that way since yesterday morning with no change whatsoever...

Let me get this straight ... Apple contracted Blackwater to protect and escort iPads? I guess thats no different than the iPhone launches.

So I got that email from Apple about it not delivering on Saturday. I contacted Apple, they didn't really have any information for me at all. I talked to a UPS driver's wife that I know, he said that they do Saturday deliveries, but only if the package is Next-Day Air. I just called UPS, they really couldn't have given me less helpful information if they tried, but I didn't wanna get rude, because the lady had no idea what I was talking about when I mentioned the iPad, so it isn't like she was out to ruin my day.

So yeah, that's where I am, nervous and paranoid. And my iPad is in China, being lonely.

AH!

I'm really getting scared now. I am still at "Billing info received" since yesterday at 6am. I called Apple and UPS, they show the same thing.

BTW: I ordered within the first 2 hours. I'm getting really pissed that people whom ordered only a couple days ago have already shipped out of China... as long as it gets here by sat that is fine.... but things are not looking too promising.

Pretty much the same, except the billing info went through yesterday, and the origin scan was 2 hours later than yours...

The only thing I think that is keeping most of us sane is the fact that so many are in the same boat when it comes to UPS updating.

Haha agreed...

And think of Apple and how many people would be calling looking for free swag because they didn't keep their promise? :)

Oh, and the fact there are more UPS flights going out... which reminds me, UPS21 from Guanzhou is now departing... our statuses mights update if it is on that flight.

I am also still at "Billing info received", and my order was complete 6 minutes after pre-orders were open. I would feel much better if there was an "origin scan" or something as all of my experience with tracking packages (limited) has led me to believe "Billing info received" means (something along the lines of) the warehouse has notified the carrier but nothing has been picked up.

I am clinging to the combination of shipped to "boonies" first and UPS tracking blackout for iPads.

And this shows the same on www.iship.com?

The reason being - iShip taps directly into UPS Raw data, vs. the UPS Site which filters certain scans and information from the status page.

I Don't Understand Shipping Status

This is my shipping status if I click on the UPS tracking number:
THE SERVICE SELECTED IS NOT AVAILABLE TO THE DESTINATION ADDRESS / DOWNGRADED, FORWARDED TO CONSIGNEE, SELECTED SERVICE IS NOT AVAILABLE

I called Apple, they put me on hold while they contacted UPS and said not too worry, shipping is guaranteed for Saturday. I said I'm still confused by the status, he said he was too.
