First poster here, can't lurk anymore. I do shipping for a living and can't wrap my head around this one. I usually get more detailed information viewing under my UPS account, but get nothing on this shipment besides Billing Information Received. The date changes everyday as well, which is odd. Anyone else still stuck at this stage?

I'd take the tracking number down if I were you. And the reference numbers.
 
Hey all it's techdude!

Finally out of school and I have TOMORROW OFF! (I love going to a catholic prep school ;) )

anyways thanks to all who used some of the tips I gave and the compliments are well received - I am more than happy to help!

I will be home in about 30-45 minutes. Then I will be able to post more and give you my status and some insight that will put a LOT of people at ease.

In the mean time, use iship and packagemapping.com and keep hitting F5 (refresh)!!!
 
I just got off the Phone with a Manager at UPS. They told me that Apple has given orders to UPS to not deliver before Saturday and to make sure this doesn't happen they are not giving the tracking information. The tracking information that is being reported by some was due to a mistake in the system. I was also told that Apple has hired several private Security firms including Xe to guard UPS regional shipping centers to make sure nothing goes out before Saturday. With this UPS is not able to fully track your package but the manager did tell me that mine is in Louisville where it will be until Friday night.

The only thing my tracking status says is "Billing Information Received"

The only thing I have to add is that Apple is treating the iPad like its some State Secret that has to be guarded at all cost. Steve must be getting paranoid.

On the official UPS site I only have the billing and origin scans, but the iship.com tracking page shows

So now its showing the Internal Activity telling them to hold the package for Sat delivery.


As to my friends that are upset that there is no Saturday delivery, and feel Apple is at fault.

The website clearly states that if it is available - plain and simple. Everyone just assumed they would use FedEx as they always do. They prob went with UPS because they won the shipping contract. Apple isnt out to screw you out of money, they are however out to make money as they ARE a business :eek:

No one has a leg to stand on as far as complaints really. It's just business. But believe me, I would be upset as well if it happened to me, but you have to look at it from a logical, business decision. Theres also no way of knowing that as of Pre-Ordering starting up, that Apple had even SECURED a contract with any shipping company, and thus why it was not explicitly on their site as such.

I was told by the lady who sold the Ipad to me that it would be delivered Saturday for sure. I took her word because she works for the company. I could have had it shipped to my business but I was told it was not needed for it would be shipped to my house Saturday. That's what is pissing me off, they gave me a free case but that still is not how business is supposed to be handled. So it is definitely not my fault, its there fault for making false promises.
 
I just called UPS, gave them my tracking number and spoke to a representative. Although online, it doesn't have an estimated date for delivery, the lady over the phone said, your package is scheduled to be delivered by the end of day Saturday.
 
Did you order from Apple by phone? I placed my order online - wouldn't have thought to call.
Yea I ordered by phone instead of online because I got a little bit of a discount off some accessories because my business orders a lot from apple.
 
I got the email too, from do_not_reply@apple.com. I called UPS, they won't let me re-route my package to a UPS store for saturday pickup, they said because it's from China, it has to be sent to the receivers address and cannot be re-routed. All this could have been avoided if they had just used Fedex.
 
Well, no one here seems to have the same situation as me so I asked my UPS rep to check on it for me. Told me mine is scheduled for Monday. I hope he's wrong. If it was my FedEx rep I'd believe him, but UPS is not as reliable.
 
Mine hasn't changed since yesterday. If nothing happens by time I wake up Friday I might start to get a little stabby. Hopefully stuff is happening, but just not reflected in the online system.

i just got an email from APPLE saying we are sorry but Saturday delivery is not in your area you will get your iPad on Monday April 5


No more wondering, you will get an email if you don't have Sat Delivery


Who else is with me and has to wait till Mon?

damnit I just got the same email. :mad:

I'm going to call UPS to see if I can pick it up Sat
 
I've just found out the same. I'm on the "screwed until Monday" group due to no UPS Saturday service, and pretty disappointed by it.

Now I REALLY wish I would have reserved my iPad at the store.

Oh, and I got the E-Mail too.

I spoke to a nice lady at the local UPS hub and she was more than aware of the iPad and told me that if the iPad is at their facility on Saturday they have instructions to deliver even if your residence is not a part of their normal Saturday delivery route.

I'm going to assume this applies to all UPS hubs and if your iPad makes it to your local hub on Saturday morning it will be delivered.

Just give your local UPS hub a call and see what they say, hope that helps :)
 
Well I got the email, then I called UPS Export/Import Services and they told me it WOULD be delivered to my house on Saturday, we'll see!

Attention Everyone!

There is something important to note about today:

There is the usual UPS71 flight from VHHH Hong Kong to PANC Anchorage that left at 7:30 AM EST.

HOWEVER! There is ANOTHER flight UPS21 from ZGGG Guangzhou to PANC Anchroage that is leaving at 4:36 PM EST! So it is a LATER flight!

It is VERY possible that those with the "Origin" and "Shipping info" scans could be on those flights.

Again, it is also possible that UPS could bring in another flight on their "Saturday" (tomorrow) and the packages will reach us by Saturday night, and then be shipped to local facilities as such.

I do respect the statement of the earlier poster about the withholding of UPS Tracking Info, however I have to take that with a grain of slat - because almost 60-70% of the people here have gotten updates past those - and I don't think UPS would do an error THAT large.

So I think we should still wait and see - even if they are shipped tomorrow morning, if using WorldEase (which they are) Apple can more easily ship these and clear customs with time to get them right to KSDF and then on planes for delivery on Saturday.

UPS might also do something similar to the day before Christmas in many areas, for flights that were delayed because of the storm, they brought in late trucks to make the deliveries - rather than delaying them to the 27th, just because a plane arrived an hour late.

I still think we will get them on Saturday. You may ask, "Well aren't you worried?" well a little bit, yes. But all I know is that I have to trust the info in front of me, with how UPS operates, the statuses I am giving, and the knowledge that if it for some reason IS delayed, Apple will be giving me a LOT of free crap to make up for it, cus I will make them (nicely, of course) :D
