As of yesterday, Santa Barbara Apple store had only 64 GB models available.

so mostly correct me if i'm wrong..are depending on the stores for pickup?...is ordering online slower?

Completely wiped out here(Chattanooga, TN). Best Buy and Mac Authority have them. My wife wanted to get one for her birthday. They told us that they'll get in about 10 - 20 and they're gone instantly. Glad I picked mine up on launch day.

ya know, if i wasn't so impatient, ordering online prob would have been faster, since it's still quoting shipment within "5-7 days"
I decided last Monday to go for the wifi-only model, because it just really burns my @ss to pay AT&T twice for 3G. not so much cuz of the company, but that i really couldn't figure where i'd need to be in my daily life where wifi wasn't available...and if the time comes i really need 3G i have my iphone (altho granted i've been having issues when turning on the 3G and rec'ing phone calls, as in it randomly doesn't let me receive said calls, haha).

but now that i have one "reserved", i always feel like "oh, i'll get the email today". impatience just seems to be in my geeky nature of 'i want it now, must have' :)

hopefully well get them today! I don't think the "holiday" will effect it. Everything is still open and mail Is still being delivered.

I can confirm that the St Louis BestBuy near the Galleria has stock of the 16, 32, and 64. Got my 32 there this morning.

All the DC Metro Apple stores seem to still be out. I heard the Wednesday as a hopeful delivery date as well. None of the BBs in a 50 mile radius have any either.

I just gave up and ordered online since I'm not sure how long the reservation wait will be and Metroing to one of the stores just to get on a list lacks excitement. :)

Best Buy in Sterling, VA has 15 each of 16GB and 64GB models in stock as of this morning.

I just got mine this morning! The BB in Cary and Raleigh, NC both got them in. The Cary one had 13 16GB and 13 64GB models.

NICE!

BB online (I was lazy and didn't visit the store itself) says Wilm NC has 32 and 64; the Myrtle Beach had all units.

That was as of around 11am.

fwiw

I reserved my 32gb from the Pentagon City store and it took 4 days for it to get there which was shorter than waiting for apple to ship it.

I was just going to tell you to "Go for it!" The worst that happens is you go out for a nice drive. The best - you go out for a nice drive and come back with a shiny, brand-new iPad!!!

NYC 5th ave store now has 16gb and 32gb (sold out on Friday I think).

Best Buys around Manhattan have models here and there but it isn't consistent.

So I got an email earlier this morning saying my reserved iPad was ready! I got all excited, and then relaxed and was having a great day at work knowing I'd be leaving here to grab one...

Just got a call from the Apple Store saying the email was sent out in error, to which my response was "So, did you sell it and didn't realize it?", lol. He apologized and said no, to which I said "Well, not like you would tell me." And he promised up and down that wasn't the case...still though, bad form Apple.

Inventory Updates (Massachusetts only)

Apple Stores in Burlington & Hingham MA said they are going to a reservation-only (from what I gathered, people that reserved in-store are getting theirs first, and if there is stock left they will make it available to the general public...which I do not think is a good thing to do, to be honest) [via phone call, 2:20pm]

Best Buy in Braintree & Dorchester have 16GB in stock [via online check, 2:20pm]

Best Buy in Dorchester has the 64GB in stock [via online check, 2:20pm]

Was at the Durham Southpoint Apple store with a friend about 20 minutes ago, they are still completely out. No official cases either.

ordered online 4/12 showing prepared for shipment today (but its coming from an overseas warehouse)

For what it's worth, delivery of Apple stuff from China seems to be running on time or ahead of schedule right now, not affected by ash cloud thus far.
