If I’m honest with myself Samsung for instance is better than Apple at making smartphones. I even think the Pixel 4 is on par with the iPhone Pro. I can’t deny this.
I disagree....

I am no Apple fanboy and switch back and forth between Apple and Android (mac and Win as well) and currently have the Galaxy S10 and an 11 Pro (non plus)... The S10 is a great phone don't get me wrong but it's not perfect.

Samsung issues that do not effect iPhone

1. Bloat, bloat and yeah, more bloat
2. Bixby (impossible to turn off)
3. Bixby button on side of phone
4. Updates and security patches? Ppfftt, you'll get them at some point, maybe......

I get frustrated with that stupid bixby button on the side as I am constantly hitting it and launching that trash of an assistant.. You can download an app that sort of disables it but not really...

Samsungs hardware is stellar but the software is meh....

As far as the Pixel 4 goes... Had a pre-order and cancelled. Not interested in 11 minutes 24 deconds of battery life from the embarassing 2800 mah battery..

I am solely as iPhone user and don't dabble with tablets and watches so this isn't from my personal experience, but a close friend uses the Note 10+, a Samsung watch, and an android tablet and he is more than satisfied in that ecosystem. He feels he has increased flexibility to make things work the way he wants. In some ways he would prefer the Apple Watch over the Samsung Watch, and I know he would prefer an iPad over whatever tablet he has, but his phone is priority number one and he feels the Note 10+ in conjunction with his usage preferences trumps all. So there's that, for what it is worth.

This must be coming from someone who has not tried the apple ecosystem. If you don’t know, you don’t know.

I don’t even look at Android devices anymore when upgrading as I’m happy with my iPhone experience. I love the Apple Watch which only uses the iPhone but I’m less compelled to buy the latest and greatest iPhone these days. I don’t need to either.

I went to Samsung for a year for the Galaxy S8. It was fine, but lacked the polish and smoothness of iOS. Ultimately I decided I am just an Apple guy when it comes to phones. I'm like you now. I don't even consider Android anymore. The only decision I make is *when* will I upgrade my iPhone/Apple Watch/iPad.

Whenever the word ‘best’ is in the title of the thread, we all know it’s highly subjective.

In terms of hardware, a lot of these smart phones are very good, that includes the Pixel, Galaxy Series, iPhone, ect. But the problem I have with android phones is I feel a lot of the features are ‘half finished’ that never seem to really work that well, it’s like the Galaxy phone having multiple types of biometric security that are flawed, and Apple has one main form of security with face ID that is highly secure _and works efficiently.

But more than anything, aside from all the hardware/advancements in technology, I want iOS. It’s that simple. It’s fluid, secure and Apples iOS team has some of the best software engineers in the smart phone industry. Even though there are some appealing things about android, it will never be an option for me as long as the iPhone is around. There is a reason iOS is so dominant.

Times have changed.
Well, they haven't. Many things are just not as good implemented as in the Apple universe. I had a Note 9 for 6 months and my experience was not as good as with iPhones. I have also used Google Pixels and HTC devices and the issues were more or less the same. The integration between hardware and software is not as good as with the iPhone..

“Best” to me means most secure data.

While I question Apples motives around privacy, and there has been some concerning news recently, they do seem to be much better than the competition on this most important issue.

It’s funny, because if you look at all these smart phone manufacturers in what they tout for their marketing, Apple is really the only one that markets out how they protect _your_ security. Now, why is that? Because they want the consumer know that they care and they strive to protect your data in a world where vulnerability is at its highest with personal identity fraud. Nobody touches iOS security encryption standards.

Great hardware? maybe the camera. I just recently sold my Note 10 Plus and switched to Apple for the first time. Reason being, very simply, the fingerprint scanner on the S10 and Note 10 is the worst piece of crap ever created! It works 1 out of 10 times and yes I have registered it more than 10 times properly at different angles. Worst is when I am in a rush to unlock my phone and keeps failing so I end up having to enter my passcode manually, makes me wanna break the damn thing! Oh and their face unlock is no better. This is one convenience that is priceless for me with the iPhone how can I just glance at it and it's already unlocked.

This coming from a hardcore Android phone who has just tried Apple products.

I believe this is why Apple hasnt done the in-screen fingerprint sensor yet. Yeah its great, when it works. I know someone with the S10 and say the same thing about the fingerprint sensor. Very low success rate they just end up using a pin most of the time. Apple is never first with features they wait until the tech matures and do it right. FaceID is a great example. Android phones had face unlock for years but Apple waited, perfected it and now has the most advanced and secure face unlock in the industry.

With the face unlock on the Samsung S10/Note 10, I have to literally stare at the screen directly for it to work. With the iPhone 11, I just glance at it from any angle and it's unlocked. Now I didn't buy the iPhone for this reason I bought it because I was frustrated with the Fingerprint scanner on the Galaxy Note 10+ but I still wanted the best camera, but this came as a welcome surprise and I didn't realize how much more convenient it is. Those little things are really what matter at the end of the day, things that make you go on about your business with ease.

I am an avid Apple user with iPhones, Macs, AirPods, Apple TV, etc. so I am DEEP in the ecosystem. With that said I ALSO have a Samsung S10+. While there's a lot I don't like about Samsung, the bottom line is that I can do stuff on my Samsung that I can't do on iOS that I really like. For example, split screen apps, which might have at first seemed gimmicky, can actually be really handy. Pop-out video soI can watch the news while surfing is also really important to me. System wide DNS on Android is *awesome* for blocking ads.

Truth is, I am using my Android more and more... but I wouldn't say Samsung is "better" than Apple at making phones, just different.

Yep. iPhone went from TouchID to FaceID, largely, without a hitch. One working solution gave way to another. That kind of stability is hard to find elsewhere as you have so many Android companies duplicating each other's efforts in so many areas that they don't deliver a solid, secure solution and focus on the next gimmick instead.

So let’s see:

Samsung’s fingerprint sensor is fooled by screen protectors and banks pull their apps:

Android needs almost twice the RAM as iOS:

the 11 Pro has 50-60% higher graphics performance:

The 11 pro has the fastest processor to support more/advanced features:

The iPhone 11 Pro has the best featured/performing camera:

The iPhone 11 has no bloatware and gets OS updates as soon as Apple releases them:

Yep, I’m off to the Samsung store! Wait, unlike Apple, there aren’t any Samsung stores! Guess I’ll just hang on to my 11 Pro....

Stop it. You will never ever leave Apple. Trust me know I know you very well.

Completely tuned out when the OP claimed the Pixel 4 is on par with the 11 Pro. It's not even close.

Pixel 4?

The Pixel 4 with Groucho Marx’s moustache atop the display?

The Pixel 4 with last year’s processor?

The Pixel 4 with biometrics that can be unlocked when you’re sleeping or dead?

The Pixel 4 with no ultrawide lens?

The Pixel 4 with no 60 fps 4k video?

That Pixel 4? We’re laughing again!

I personally like the Android OS and Samsung phones. I was a bit of an android fan boy. However, my family is all Apple. I switched over to Apple several years ago with the 6+. I have had an iPad for years and have found it to be better overall than anything offered on the Android platform. I also picked up an Apple Watch.

Well I switch back to a Samsung 9+ or whatever it was called, bought a Samsung watch, and a Samsung Tab 3. I liked the 9+ a lot, but the Samsung watch and tablet could not touch the Apple watch and iPad. While I could get the same functionality it was just a lacking experience overall when looking at the complete package and knew then I would not be happy. However, I pushed through for a couple days to make sure what I felt was correct. I also use the parental controls for my son's iPad and he would facetime me from his ipad and he could not figure out hangouts (he was 7 at the time) so this all created challenges too. I switched back to Apple within my 15 days returning everything. Things just work more seamless for my needs with Apple at this time.

I picked up an 11 Pro Max and with the battery life and camera I am completely satisfied with it and what it can do.

Oh Device resell is much better with Apple Products as well
