What's interesting is that Chinese retailer put 6GB, Vodafone put 6GB and T-Mobile put 6GB. Where did they get their information from?

From "leaks" that were simply wrong, but also believable.

None of the reliable supply chain analysts said 6 GB though, IIRC.

Seems like the 11 would be the more pro machine than the 11 pro since it has a sub 1080 p screen to run yet has the same ram. Also it has a higher battery capacity than the 11 pro. Makes me wonder if it should be the “pro.”

And....

It does not drive my eyes or accountant bonkers!

As someone that doesn’t upgrade for several years between models and has felt the pain of low RAM on an older model this has me very concerned. I’m putting my purchase on hold now. May buy a used phone just to get me through to next year. Someone does need to report the resellers though. It is very serious if they are reporting a different number.

It has a bigger battery, because it’s a bigger phone as well. On top of that, its LCD screen needs more juice, as it’s less efficient than OLED. And no, it’s not pro with that 2x2 MIMO from 2 years ago.

What is meant by “Pro”. I run a business and I have an XR. I do everything business wise from this device. Including all my social media, invoices and accounts. Although I also have an iPad and an Apple Watch. In fact I find the Watch really useful for running my business. And the Watch isn’t “Pro”.

I would not make any more money by having a Pro so for me it’s a waste of money. The “Pro” branding is just marketing. Some people are fooled by it others see it for what it is.

So much confusion. Just spoke to contacts I have in Vodafone and they said they have official specs from Apple saying it is 6GB. Don’t know what to believe now

Believe Vodafone! they are not playing with things like this.

Perhaps the specs changed between test units and production units. Or, someone released false info to retailers and carriers knowing that DRAM specs may affect consumers purchasing decision. More reason Apple should just be upfront and list it under specs.

Pro is only referring to something better! I’ve never see people take a silly name so seriously..who actually cares if it is named Pro or not.

People.... iPhone 11=4GB iPhone 11 pro=6GB

2GB per camera (that’s why it’s there). IOS is specialized for these specific phones and doesn’t need as much. iPhone is still the fastest for a reason.

Now I'm inclined also to think it's 4GB

This 2GB / camera is a hardware formula or something like that?
General discussion: I'm getting confused. It could be 4GB...

A lower resolution, less color-corrected display does NOT make a phone more "pro" than one that does have those features, especially when "pro" seems to refer mostly to the camera, and the display accuracy is a key factor for photographers and videographers.

The reality is, carriers provide their best guess on the specs. Apple certainly doesn't provide RAM specs to carriers. What are the consequences for carriers listing incorrect specs? Pretty much nothing. People can return the phone if they're not satisfied.

Leaker STS just posted on Twitter a little while ago that there is likely only 4GB that the user can see, but believes there is another 2GB solely for the camera. He says no way to know until tear downs.

The camera is constantly videoing frames/taking photos so there has to be built in buffer. It uses all three lens at once so it needs a buffer for each. It's just where they drew the line as far as I know. 2gb with one sensor, 4gb with dual, 6gb with three.
