Max Pro 256 MG. I’m waiting for my apps to download but first impression the cameras are freaking Awesome. More later.

anyone having trouble with 'sticking' things to the back of the Pro Max? got a LoveHandle and can't get it to stick with the regular 3M tape, nor the additional 'clear sticker'. I pressed and held it for over 2 minutes, and then let it sit for a good 30mins and it just pops off when I pull it. GRRRRR!

same thing seems to happen with my Scosche metal plate for vent magnet....

The new matte finish is awesome in SG! Doesn't show any finger prints. Less slippery than the Xs Max. I don't use a case so I'm feeling it all the time.

Camera is spectacular. Huge upgrade.

Screen is so bright is hurts my eyes at full brightness. Just some minor color shift issues but I'm fine with it.

I like how it's heavier. Feels solid.

The battery is just not going down very much even after doing iCloud restore.

Very worthwhile upgrade from the Xs Max!

Anybody else noticed that when recording a video and zooming in/out (so switching between lenses) the video stutter for a moment and the colours temperature changes? Apple touted how they worked to make the videos looking smooth when changing lenses, but it doesn't seem they did an amazing job so to me...
That was one of the main features I was looking forward to. After testing and using the camera dial, there was definitely some noticeable shifting of color and exposure across the lens. The test footage I took at the local Apple Store was not visually seamless as I thought it would be. For casual users, they might not notice. Then again it could be because of the low lighting, when I went at night. So maybe it might work better under daylight. It was indeed running 13.0 so don’t know if it is a software issue.

I can feel the weight difference in the Pro Max from my XS Max but it’s not a issue for me.

My 6 Plus was light. The 7 Plus heavier the XS Max a little more the 11 Max slightly more and how is this a brick? A brick was my Nokia’s from 1998-99.

This Max Pro is rockin.

I agree. The weight of the iPhone 11 Pro Max is fine. The only problem I had with the iPhone 11 Pro Max is that 1 handed usage is not as easy as my iPhone X.

I haven’t tested the battery life, but if it really offers 5 hours of real usage, then this “increased weight” is worth it.

First impressions of 11 pro max:
  • The back of the white phone looks pearly and beautiful in a clear case. I keep turning the phone over to admire it.
  • It's not as heavy as I expected. I couldn't really feel the difference, even though I knew there was one.
  • IOS seems a little buggy, but facial recognition is super fast.
  • The camera is noticeably better over the xs max. Not in all photos, but I've taken better photos with it overall, in imperfect lighting conditions.
  • The sound is much improved; I wasn't expecting much difference but it's fantastic.
I thought the upgrade was mainly about the camera, but having the phone in hand, it feels like every part of it got a little bump in quality. The jump from xs to 11 is much more noticeable than the jump from x to xs.

My Max Pro 256 Space gray arrived via UPS and I carefully inspected the phone. Love the new glass and I may be in the minority but I love the camera design. I think it looks cool but that’s just me. Screen is great and been messing on this for hours and the battery is great.

I love iOS dark mode. I played with the cameras and I’m really impressed. The night mode is no joke. Built quality is awesome.

I had a Galaxy Note 10+ for about a week and while that is an excellent phone i just prefer iPhone. So I was going to get a XS Max but just held out and preordered the Pro Max. So far I love this

Phone is a fail because of the weight. If I want to carry a brick around, I will join the construction crew outside.

What the heck is Apple thinking? It’s crazy.

It’s not that heavy. I’d rather have a heavier phone with better battery life than one that feels light and cheap with rubbish battery life.

My gold Pro is gorgeous, the colour is like a champagne one, not too yellowy/bling bling. I’m new to the OLED screen and FaceID, so I’m still getting used to it! :D

I also think the camera design is nice, don’t get why so many people think it’s ugly! Dark mode is so much better, easier on the eye and makes text easier to read.

Just been to my local Apple Store in Abu Dhabi and made a comparison with the 4 available colors for the 11 PRO:

Silver

Midnight green

Gold

Space grey

I must admit that the greenish one is not my preferred and same is for the gold one.

I eventually came to the conclusion that it’s worth for me to take advantage of the great improvement in the PRO’s camera (I’m a pretty active iphoneographer) and step up from my current 7Plus (great camera BTW).

Planning to buy my 11 PRO MAX 256GB in a couple of weeks from now and after having seen all the colors my choice goes to Silver: simple, elegant, love the steel color effect on the edges.

I preordered the SG 11 pro, but I think the white one looks fantastic in real life!

As someone who initially thought the back of this phone to be hideous, it really is better looking in person. I’m even a fan of it now!

I’m also really glad I went with Space Grey, it’s gorgeous and stealthy looking, and again, looks way better in person. Pictures really don’t do it justice.

First thing I noticed turning it on was the amazing display, it just popped out right at me.

The speed of this thing is also on another level, it feels smoother than any other iPhone I’ve tried in recent years and I see no frame rate issues like I have with other previous iPhones. I don’t know what kind of black magic Apple are doing to achieve this, wether it’s the A13 or what but it’s working! Everything feels real snappy and smooth as silk.

All in all after being skeptical I love it!

IMO I think the Max version looks okay, but the camera hump on the regular Pro makes it look a bit squat. That midnight green is sharp. I'm an impulse buyer, and that is damn tempting, but I know I don't need one...

Is anyone else not finding a brightness difference between the XS max and the Pro Max? I just cannot see any difference between mine what so ever.

Edit: should add that the Xs is on iOS 13 and the max pro is on 13.1 b4. Just taken them both outside and the max definitely looks a bit (just a bit mind) brighter in direct sunlight...takes it time to ramp up the brightness though. Unless I’m imagining it, it continues to brighten in direct sunlight even when the brightness slider has gone to maximum (auto-brightness is on).

Would be interested to see what others say.

It does work better under daylight, but far from perfect. It’s a shame, to me it’s very noticeable and I find it quite annoying really... I hope they can improve this with future updates

It appears a workaround is fixing the color balancing issue with FCP. But a little time consuming to edit the footage. I found that setting keyframes to animate the scaling of footage on the timeline can be an alternative solution as well. But again, it is one of the main selling points for the 11 pro, so Apple needs to correct this issue soon. Therefore saving users time from doing this in post-production.

It's basically the same one as the iPad Pro.

It's a pity Apple doesn't use components like Anker did for their 30W USB-C charger, that one is almost as small as Apple's 5W USB-A charger.

until I see the insides of that anker charger, I’ll trust Apple. The reason I say this is Apple has always built their chargers to be completely safe and efficient while also supporting great components. Over the years each of their chargers gets a tear down and every electrical engineer is always surprised how much work goes into each charger and how cramped it is but still well designed. on top of this, anytime a third party charger is taken apart especially a cheaper alternative that people love to rave about, they are a ****ing joke and safety hazard.

this isn’t me saying I don’t trust anker. I actually love their products and own cables, battery packed and two of their larger, MacBook sized chargers (one usb a and one usb c) chargers but the atom still makes me go 🤔. If they truly were able to shove 30 watts of power safely into the size of a iPhone 5w adapter while keeping it safe and well engineered then bravo and Apple needs to tell us why they couldn’t.

This article is a great example of Apple chargers versus third party / cheaper chargers.http://www.righto.com/2015/11/macbook-charger-teardown-surprising.html?m=1

There are many more but I have this bookmarked because it’s so well written and I use it the most when discussing this subject.

i did a quick search and it looks like anker shared on their own website :)O) how they achieved the small design which is awesome! https://www.anker.com/deals/powerport_atom

it looks like they are using GaN which is new tech that helps reduce the complexity of chargers. From a quick glance of this https://www.mouser.com/applications/advancing-power-GaN/ it’s definitely promising but I can see why Apple isn’t read to just adopt something so new especially when it comes to power. I only skimmed it and will ask my electrical engineer buddies what they think about this but as a techie I can see why Apple hasn’t jumped on the bandwagon and made all their chargers with GaN. I’m sure they are testing it internally but they have to go with some they know that works and will be provided to millions of people that they will use for years versus something you buy on your own at your own risk and if something happens that’s between you and the company who made it.

definitely ordering a powerport atom pd 1 and using it for traveling and whenever I can to see how it does overtime, Heat generated by the adapter, how it handles power from multiple outlets, how it handles surges or the “cleanness” (my word) of power based on a raw outlet vs surge protector, etc.

thanks for sharing the anker adapter. Totally didn’t realize they had something so powerful at such a small package :O

I love it, I went XS to 11 Pro Max. It’s great having the extra screen real estate again. Love playing Apple Arcade games. The camera is stupid good, love that wide angle. Loving the gold.
I was high last night and was looking at the back of the phone, holding it sideways and burst out laughing at the camera lens cause it looked like a face 😂

Consider the ringke fusion case. Have it on my 11 pro max. Not sure how much protection will give on concrete drops but it’s quite thin and helps make the phone feel less bulky to me.
