So I went to BB at 11:15 Central and explained that I had ordered online but my order was delayed. They said yes we have the iPhone 11 Pro Max 256 SG in stock, we are just really busy at the moment. I can take your name and number and we will text you within 45 minutes to an hour to come back. She assured me that they would be able to help me. I go back to the store an hour later and wait an additional 45 minutes. Then I get up to the counter and they log in to my account and they say "Oh I'm sorry, but its in shipping status so we can't cancel it." I clearly asked this before sitting here for an hour and 45 minutes. No one can tell me where my phone is aside from possibly a Best Buy warehouse waiting to be picked up by a carrier.

Sadly my in-store pickup order is still "In Progress" while also stating "Pickup available on Release Date: Fri, September 20". I stopped by my local store a little bit ago just to talk to a real person and see if my order was actually on premises. Unfortunately, the best the customer service person could offer is "maybe a UPS truck is running late". Basically, she didn't seem to know anything.

I'm glad other folks have had success with Best Buy. For me, though, the confidence that I'll have a phone in hand today, that confidence is beginning to sag.

Did you go the the mobile department and tell them you’re there to pick up your phone? Or just go ask a customer service employee when you’ll get the ready for pickup email?

Yeah now they are sold out of my make and model. And no email saying my preorder is ready. Losing hope that I will get one today. Oh well.

I’d personally just go to the store and tell them you’re there to pick up your pre order.

why are they activating it for you? I usually just pick it up and activate it my self. I am not about to sit there and unbox a phone and wait on some jackass to to take 45 minutes. I'm going to take it to my office, pop out the simcard, pop in my old phone simcard and carry on about my day. I do not understand why these companies still make everything such a giant hassle. If you can get your phone shipped to you then why the hell do you have to stand in a store and let some teenager activate your device you could have done yourself?

just got an apple watch notification saying "Iphone 11... Get it today and get it activated... all at bestbuy" Taunting me much?

It’s Best Buy, Walmart, and just about every other retailers policy now to activate the phone and make a test call before you leave the store. Never used to be that way until 3-4 years ago.

It’s stupid, but that’s why I order for delivery. So I can pop my own sim in.

After best buy told me last night they had no phone for me, I cancelled my Best Buy order for store pickup and walked out of the Apple store with one in hand this morning. Bestbuy won’t be getting another iPhone order from me in the future. Apple store was a good experience though. Can’t say best buy would have been smooth if they did have my order in stock.

Mobile department quickly directed me to customer service desk when I explained I had a pre-order. I just assumed they knew what they were doing and didn't think to go back to the mobile department.

ready in an hour my ass.... still not ready for pickup

and then literally 30 seconds after i posted that i got the email to pick it up. on my way there shortly.

Yep, it is on my way home so I will stop by in any case. I just am doubtful I will walk out with a phone.

Welp. This was fun! Picked up my 11 Pro Max in Midnight Green at 10am at Best Buy! Scanned my email barcode, checked my ID and was in and out in about 3 minutes! Hope you ll get your devices today as well!

Literally just walked in and walked out with my phone within three minutes and they did not unbox it there. Perfect pickup

Well, no luck here. I stopped in and they told me they didn’t have any phones and that they “might” get one in later tonight. Seeing as I knew they had phones in the store as of 11am, they failed to put one aside for me. I cancelled immediately. What is the point of a preorder if they just go ahead and sell my phone?

Called and spoke to a great customer service agent this AM regarding my delivery that was suddenly delayed at 1am today. She said would be delivered Saturday or Monday and to disregard the email As Oct 20th is a date they throw out 30 days from original date of delivery. She was accurate in telling me where my phone was and that it was UPS that dropped the ball as the phone was “waiting for carrier pick-up”. As she predicted, I just the email from Best Buy with tracking information and now my phone is slated to be delivered on Monday. Still bad business overall to neglect the ppl who preordered who really wanted the phones today, while giving all the people who were indifferent the phones upon walk in or pickup on day of release Or delivery on Saturday. And on top of that to not even have overnight delivery to stretch it out until Monday. I did get a 50 dollar gift card for my inconvenience and because I was nice to the lady who had probably been dealing with ******s all day.

Wish the nice customer service agent I spoke to would have offered me a gift card as well. 😉

The local store didn't blame UPS though. He said that the store it’s shipping from didn’t pick all the orders before the last UPS pick up last night.

Decided to upgrade from my X this morning on a whim. Checked Best Buy and they had one left of what I wanted in stock in my local store... 11 Pro midnight green 256gb. Great experience, the phone was ready in an hour and I was in and out in no time at all.

Both of my phones are being delivered on Monday, coming from Amarillo, TX (WTF), anyways, not much in a rush, just relieved that I don't have to wait a month to get them and I also was able to bypass the stupid deposit ($100+ for each phone) both Sprint and Apple was forcing their current customers to make. Anyways, happy for everyone who got their phones today, until next year!!!

I didn't have mine activated at Best Buy. Picked my phone up at the online order pickup desk. It had the sim taped to the box, ad I activated it when I got home later. Was only in the store for about 5 minutes.

Nice! Nice that they had stock on hand to let you do that.

Well, the Midnight Green Pro Max I had pre ordered was already set aside for me when I walked in at 10 am. I was going to be in and out quickly however I saw the Silver/White Pro Max in person and was having second thoughts. After handling the Midnight Green in my hands for an hour, I finally made the decision.

They had a LOT more stock than anticipated at my local Best Buy. I consider myself fortunate.

I got mine!! I’m so relieved, I thought for sure that I’d walk up to the desk and they’d say “oh sorry, that email was a mistake, we don’t have your phone in stock”.

the phone is amazing, I can’t believe how great the night mode camera is!! I took this picture in the complete dark today .. incredible. I hope you’ve all had good experiences, and if you haven’t, I hope they fix it ASAP and you get your phones soon!!
